Oscars Tease Marvel Reunion As Avengers: Doomsday Stars Join Lineup

Oscars Tease Marvel Reunion As Avengers: Doomsday Stars Join Lineup

The creative team behind the 98th Oscars held a press conference on Wednesday, teasing a few surprises planned for Sunday night’s ceremony.

Executive producer Katy Mullan said the show will feature a couple of “huge reunions,” including one aimed directly at superhero fans.

“There’s also going to be a Marvel reunion for the superhero fans, so we’re gonna have superstars and superheroes,” Mullan said. She also teased “an extraterrestrial on the stage,” without saying who it is.

New presenters include Pedro Pascal, Lewis Pullman, Channing Tatum

A new presenters announcement confirms the following names joining the show: Rose Byrne, Nicole Kidman, Jimmy Kimmel, Delroy Lindo, Ewan McGregor, Wagner Moura, Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman, Lewis Pullman, Channing Tatum, and Sigourney Weaver.

Matt Berry is also set as this year’s Oscars announcer.

Marvel overlap points straight to Avengers: Doomsday

The Marvel reunion tease hits right as the presenter list now includes a run of MCU stars who all have Avengers: Doomsday connections.

A previous announcement already confirmed Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as presenters.

Now added: Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic in Fantastic Four), Lewis Pullman (The Sentry in Thunderbolts), and Channing Tatum (Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine).

Downey Jr., Evans, Pascal, Pullman, and Tatum are all set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday later this year, which makes the Oscars “Marvel reunion” line sound a lot less mysterious.

Star Wars connections show up too

Sigourney Weaver is also now confirmed as a presenter and stars with Pascal in The Mandalorian & Grogu, which hits May 22nd.

Ewan McGregor is also on the list and is best known to fans for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The “extraterrestrial” could be Grogu (just a guess).
