Teenage Alien Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fans Will Go Apesh-t When They See It Says Director

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1029:]]With news that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be having an alien origin, the internet has exploded!

Quick recap: Producer on the movie Michael Bay let loose the following:

“When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable.”

Now with that, various people related to the TMNT mythos have been taking sides. Various voice actors and creators have come out and offered their thoughts etc.

The latest (via ComingSoon) is from the director on the new TMNT movie, Jonathan Liebesman, of Battle Los: Angeles fame, and the upcoming Wrath of Titans.

“I heard about it, and I’m glad there’s such a passionate fanbase–I think that was good news for everyone–but literally, I’ve just been locked in a room with Kevin Eastman. I think what we’re developing, the fans will love. I’m a fan, and I love what we’re doing. It’s a lot of stuff Kevin’s been thinking about for a long time and just hasn’t done. Anything we expand will tie right into the mythology, so I think fans will go apesh*t when they see it.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is slated for a Christmas Day 2013 release.

Teenage Alien Mutant Ninja Turtles: “Could Be Whole Planet Of Them” Says Co-Creator

A bomb in the form of Michael Bay was dropped on the internet earlier with news that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would have an alien origin.

Things started to get nasty when one voice-actor mentioned something about “sodomizing” (true!), with still another – perhaps looking for a job – stating it was a good idea.

Regardless, Bay himself took to his message boards and told the fans to chill out!

Now, TMNT Co-Creator Peter Laird, who sold the rights off to Nickelodeon in 2009, weighs in on the idea and attempts to look at the positive side of things.

Laird points out on his blog (where he sketched the below pic) the obvious as he states, “[T]he reason I say it could be a ‘genius’ idea is that — for the first time — someone has come up with a way to have as many freakin‘ Turtles as they want. I mean, if the TMNT are actually members of an alien race, there could be a whole PLANET of them!”

A whole planet of Turtles?!

Laird does state he tried adding a fifth turtle at one time, and when he did create more in the form of the “Super Turtles,” he made sure they were different than the “Ninja” ones.

However, would Bay do the same?!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is slated for a Christmas Day 2013 release.

Michael Bay Responds to Fans About Teenage Mutant Alien Ninja Turtles

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:956:]]Earlier, video surfaced from Nickelodeon Upfront with Michael Bay, producer on the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, stating the turtles would have an alien origin.

Well, suffice to say this wasn’t well received.

Now, Bay has responded to the fans on the forums on his official site with the following:

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.
