Christopher Lee Dies At 93

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20951:]]The Hobbit director Peter Jackson says good-bye to Christopher Lee on set December 2014

Christopher Lee has died at the age of 93.

Lee, known for iconic villain roles in Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Dracula, passed away in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London on Sunday after being treated for respiratory problems.

According to reports, the decision to release the news days after Lee’s death was due to his wife of 50 years Birgit Krøncke’s desire to tell family members first.

In 2001, Lee played the evil wizard Saruman in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and Sith Lord Count Dooku in 2002’s Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and 2005’s Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Christopher Lee most recently appeared in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in 2014 and has one more movie to be released with Angels in Notting Hill.

Lee was also known for his love of heavy metal having released “Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing” this past Holiday season.

Doctor Who, Scooby Doo, Ghostbusters, Simpsons Coming To LEGO Dimensions

Joining Batman and Gandalf in LEGO Dimensions is a slew of new characters, which includes Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, The Simpsons and more.

Check out a new trailer above with new screenshots below.

Info:

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed today that LEGO Dimensions, the upcoming entertainment experience that merges physical brick building with interactive console gameplay, will include gameplay from The Simpsons, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, Portal, Jurassic World, Midway Arcade, LEGO Chima and Scooby Doo! These fan favourite worlds, most of which have never before been in a LEGO videogame, will converge with the previously announced DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, The Wizard of Oz, LEGO Ninjago and Back to the Future worlds in one thrilling adventure playable with the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack.

For gamers that want to customise their LEGO Dimensions experience, Level Packs, Team Packs and Fun Packs based on these fourteen brands will provide new buildable characters, vehicles and gadgets, as well as compelling game content with mission-based levels and unique in-game abilities. All expansion packs will provide players the opportunity to use everything interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game.

It was also revealed in a new trailer that every LEGO vehicle and gadget can be physically built and then rebuilt twice for a total of three different objects that do entirely different things in the digital game for massive variety. Once players earn a building achievement, they will get in-game instructions that show them how to use the same physical LEGO bricks to rebuild vehicles and gadgets into different objects that provide all-new abilities.

For example, the LEGO vehicle bricks that come in the Starter Pack can be used to build the LEGO Batmobile that enables players to activate accelerator switches. The Batmobile can be rebuilt and transformed into the LEGO Batblaster which adds Sonar Smash, a sonar gun that has the ability to break LEGO sonar bricks.  The vehicle can then be rebuilt again as the LEGO Sonic Batray which adds a special attack in the form of a missile barrage.  Players can fuse an upgraded vehicle to the LEGO Toy Tag, enabling them to take it and any new abilities with them to a friend’s game or wherever they’d like to play. Players can do this with every vehicle and every gadget from every pack.

Launching September 27th, 2015, LEGO Dimensions will be available for Xbox One, the all-in one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment systems and Nintendo´s Wii U system.

Viggo Mortensen Thinks Peter Jackson Uses Too Much CGI

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:15432:]]

Seems Viggo Mortensen isn’t a big fan of digital effects in movies, or at least the overuse of them, as it sounds as if he isn’t too thrilled with The Hobbit movies.

Of course, Mortensen played Aragorn for Peter Jackson in the Lord Of The Rings, and he even says the sequels for LOTR even started to get out of control.

Here is what he had to say about it to The Telegraph:

Peter was always a geek in terms of technology but, once he had the means to do it, and the evolution of the technology really took off, he never looked back. In the first movie, yes, there’s Rivendell, and Mordor, but there’s sort of an organic quality to it, actors acting with each other, and real landscapes; it’s grittier. The second movie already started ballooning, for my taste, and then by the third one, there were a lot of special effects. It was grandiose, and all that, but whatever was subtle, in the first movie, gradually got lost in the second and third. Now with The Hobbit, one and two, it’s like that to the power of 10.

I guess Peter became like Ridley Scott – this one-man industry now, with all these people depending on him. But you can make a choice, I think. I asked Ridley when I worked with him (on 1997’s GI Jane), ‘Why don’t you do another film like The Duellists [Scott’s 1977 debut, from a Joseph Conrad short story]?’ And Peter, I was sure he would do another intimately scaled film like Heavenly Creatures, maybe with this project about New Zealanders in the First World War he wanted to make. But then he did King Kong. And then he did The Lovely Bones – and I thought that would be his smaller movie. But the problem is, he did it on a $90 million budget. That should have been a $15 million movie. The special effects thing, the genie, was out of the bottle, and it has him. And he’s happy, I think…”

James Cameron Updates Avatar 2; Talks Release Date & Peter Jackson Had It Easy

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:6176:]]We get an update from James Cameron on the status of Avatar 2 as he speaks about the sequel while discussing his latest movie, Cirque du Soleil 3D.

James Cameron informs LifeGoesStrong.com that he’s working on both Avatar 2 and 3, and also jokes that his friend Peter Jackson had it easy for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

“I’m working on ‘Avatar 2’ and ‘Avatar 3.’ I was talking the other day with Peter Jackson and said, ‘You had it easy dude. You had the books when you did the second and third ‘Lord of the Rings.’ I have to create my own books in my head and extract a script from it,” Cameron said and continued with an update on the movies. “I’m deep into it and I’m living in Pandora right now. There is that start up torque where you feel it’s coming to you. Then you build up momentum. That’s when it gets fun. The characters talk and it’s writing itself. I’m almost there right now. It’s building fast.”

As Avatar grosses $2 billion plus at the box office, the Oscar-award-winning director is asked if there is any pressure with the follow-up, in which he replies that there is none.

“Pressure, no. It’s a little daunting because sequels are always tricky,” Cameron said. “You have to be surprising and stay ahead of audience anticipation. At the same time, you have to massage their feet with things that they know and love about the first film. I’ve walked that line in the past, so I’m not too worried about it. At the same time, I definitely have to deliver the goods…As for a release date that will be determined by when I get the script out. No pressure!”

Avatar arrived in 2009 and took movie goers by storm amassing the largest gross for any movie with $2.02 billion worldwide with a U.S. gross of just over three-quarters of a billion dollars. It’s first three opening weekends saw the film average around $70 million.
