Andy Serkis and Warner Bros. have released a first look at the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim anime movie.

Serkis surprised fans at the Annecy Animation Festival with the first footage, and Warner Bros. has also released first-look images.

“The fans are gonna go nuts for this. You are the first people to see this, and boy, it’s an extraordinary piece of work,” Serkis said. “There is only one word to describe a movie with Lord of the Rings and anime at the same time, and that is precious.”

Andy Serkis isn’t directly involved with the anime, but recently saw the big announcement that Serkis and Peter Jackson are returning for two new live-action Lord of the Rings movies.
