Sony Tells Marvel To Back Off Spider-Man Miles Morales

Marvel boss Kevin Feige says a live-action Miles Morales isn’t happening anytime soon, and that’s because Sony told them to keep out.

Feige Says “That Is Nowhere”

For years, some fans have been pushing for Miles Morales to appear in the MCU. But during a recent press stop about the MCU, Feige confirmed there’s no development on a live-action version of the Spider-Verse character.

“That is nowhere,” said Feige, when asked about Marvel’s plans for Miles, via THR.

It’s Sony’s Call

Feige made it clear that the decision isn’t Marvel’s to make, as Sony owns the film rights to Spider-Man and all related characters.

“Sony has their brilliant, genius, incredible Spider-Verse animated franchise going and until that finishes, we’ve been told to stay away,” he added.

That means as long as Sony is cranking out its animated Spider-Verse movies—including the upcoming third installment—Marvel won’t be touching Miles Morales. It also means the fan theory that Liza Colón-Zayas is playing the mother of Miles Morales in Spider-Man 4 is likely not true.

What’s Next?

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has a June 25, 2027 release date. With Sony hanging onto the live-action rights, it looks like any potential crossover with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man or the broader MCU is on ice.
