Captain America 2

Watch: Russo Brothers React To Captain America: Winter Soldier Honest Trailer

Check out Joe and Anthony Russo below reacting to the Screen Junkies “Honest Trailer” of Captain America: Winter Soldier.

The brothers note that during creation of the script and in the writers room, they referenced the fact that the movie would get an “Honest Trailer” treatment and changed things up accordingly.

Likewise, Screen Junkies noted it was difficult finding things wrong with the movie, in which they had to knit pick certain things in order to create the video.

The Russo brothers counter some of the arguments and more.

It will also be interesting to see what happens with the Captain America: Civil War Honest Trailer.

You can also watch the Age Of Ultron Honest Trailer here as well.

Sebastian Stan Responds To Zack Snyder’s Marvel Bashing

Zack Snyder recently took a few jabs at Marvel (and Ant-Man) mentioning they are bubblegum movies and are the flavor of the week.

Now Sebastian Stan weighs in on Snyder’s Marvel bashing in the above video.

Yeah, I’m sitting here and I’m listening to you and I’m thinking, “Do I want to fire some shots at DC right now, at Zack Snyder?” I read some of those comments where he said something about Batman and Superman, I can’t remember where I read that, somewhere… Something about, “It’s not going to be your flavor-of-the-week Ant-Man.” And I was like, “Oh thanks, Zack. That’s great. Way to do something original.” But I would say we’re still making something very original in our own way. I mean, the Russos are coming in and taking something people are used to, and they’re shaping it up and changing it in a very different way. They’re not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that… I think Marvel is very away of its capabilties and brand.

Sebastian Stan returns as the Winter Soldier for Captain America: Civil War and also comments about potential complaints the movie might be an “Avengers 2.5”

I mean, I know everybody’s treating it like there are all these Avengers in it, like it’s Avengers 2.5 or something, and there’s an element of that, but it’s still at the end of the day very much a Captain America film. It’s different from The Avengers, it’s definitely its own entity, totally connects to the last Winter Soldierfilm, and the Russos’ stamp is all over it.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Captain America 2, Thor 2 & Guardians of the Galaxy Now On Netflix

Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy are now available to stream on Netflix.

However, the catch is the movies are streaming in certain foreign countries.

Users are reporting on Reddit that using the Chrome “Hola Better Net” extension, the movies are accessible anywhere.

How it works is, Netflix knows the location of where you are viewing the movies based on your cpu/internet provider settings, and only certain movies are available in select countries.

The Hola extension enables users to mask and change their location via a VPN. So for example, if you are in the U.S., you can use Hola to change your location to the Netherlands and view the movies.

Apparently, Netflix has been under pressure from the movie studios as they have caught on to the trick, and Netflix may be banning users who use VPNs to access the service.

It’s unclear where this falls under copyright laws as technically you are not downloading the movie, and it is “available” to stream.

So here is your fair warning: If you decide to go the Hola route, do so at your own risk.

Reportedly, the Marvel movies will be readily available on Netflix later this year.

Marvel Phase 2 Contains Same Star Wars Easter Eggs

It seems just about everyone missed this one as Kevin Feige has let it be known he included the same Star Wars Easter Egg in each of the Marvel Phase 2 movies.

Speaking with CinemaBlend, Feige said he is a big Star Wars fan and offered:

So is this a spoiler for Ant-Man… not really. I’m obsessed with Star Wars. Who’s not? I’m 40 years old. I’m in the movie business. I went to USC. So I’m obsessed with Star Wars – and it didn’t start out as intentional, but it became intentional, including that beat that you referenced. It sort of happens in every Star Wars movie, but I was sort of looking at it, ‘Okay, is Phase Two our Empire Strikes Back?’ Not really, but tonally things are a little different. Somebody gets their arm cut off in every Phase Two movie. Every single one.

Regarding the Easter Eggs:

Iron Man 3 featured Guy Pearce’s character, Aldrich Killian, getting his arm cut off by Tony Stark when he heats up Iron Man’s suit and the end of the movie.

Thor 2 features Thor getting his arm “cut off” by Loki.

Captain America 2 features a flashback where Bucky had his own arm cut off when he fell from the train in Captain America: The First Avenger.

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy also had a similar Star Wars Easter Egg with Gamora cutting Groot’s arm off (this might be the enigmatic Easter Egg Gunn keeps referring to that he says everyone missed).

Those are the Star Wars Easter Eggs known to date as The Avengers 2 is yet to be released – so be on the look out for someone getting their arm cut off just like Luke Skywalker from Empire Strikes Back.

Watch: The Visual Effects of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Industrial Light & Magic YouTube Channel has posted a visual effects featurette for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The footage features a sampling of ILM’s visual effects work for Captain America 2, which was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

Over 900 visual effects were created for the movie by ILM utilizing a crew of over 300 people.

A majority of the visual effects from ILM appear in the third act consisting of:

“The hellicarrier’s massive underwater hanger, their ensuing battle, and and the helicarriers themselves inside and out, sprawling digital Washington D.C. and Rosslyn environments including the Triskelion building complex on Roosevelt Island, highly detailed digital doubles for Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie).”

In addition to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, ILM has worked on every Star Wars movie, The Avengers, Iron Man, Indiana Jones, Transformers and lots more.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. To Tie In To The Avengers 2

In a no-brainer, it’s learned that The Avengers 2 will tie in to Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Specifics weren’t given, but SHIELD executive producer Jed Whedon told, “The Avengers is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we’re included in that.”

SHIELD previously tied into Captain America 2 as well as Thor 2, and indirectly with Guardians of the Galaxy as the blue alien in SHIELD is the same race as Ronan.

“I don’t think any movie has the potential to impact us in the way that Captain America 2 did,” executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen added, “but there will be connections.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. mid-season finale airs tonight on ABC at 9pm ET.

“The Avengers: Age Of Ultron” hits May 1, 2015 directed by Joss Whedon starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Paul Bettany as Vision, with James Spader as Ultron.

When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Frank Grillo Confirms Crossbones In Captain America 3 Civil War

Frank Grillo quickly became a fan-favorite following his debut as Brock Rumlow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Now it’s learned that Frank Grillo will be back for Captain America: Civil War, and judging from his conversation with EW, Grillo will be suited up as Crossbones.

“[Winter Soldier] was only a taste of what’s to come with the next film, and I couldn’t be more humbled and excited. They just kind of called and said, ‘What kind of shape are you in? We’re going to need a body scan.’ They scan your body so that whatever you wear fits you like a glove.”

Grillo also talked about the character of Crossbones.

“He’s a badass. He is just vicious. I like the idea that it’s no holds barred. I love the physicality. We all know what Crossbones represents in his world.”

Captain America: Civil War also stars Robert Downey Jr. and introduces Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther, with Grillo excited about the possibilities.

“I hear Iron Man is in Captain America 3—he’s got a big role—and the Black Panther. It sounds like this Civil War is going to be pretty interesting.”

Captain America: Civil War has a May 6, 2016 release.

On a side note, Grillo has been getting comparisons to The Punisher for his role in The Purge: Anarchy, which you may want to check out.

Guardians of the Galaxy Passes Cap 2; 3 Biggest Marvel Movie

Thanks to a great opening in China, Guardians of the Galaxy has now become Marvel Studios’ third best movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy has netted $69 million in China, which gives it a total gross of $732,636,000 passing by Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s $714,083,572.

Guardians of the Galaxy is also the #4 movie of the year overall, just shy of passing X-Men: Days of Future Past by about $14 million for the best grossing comic book movie of 2014 as well.

Currently, Transformers: Age Of Extinction ($1 billion), Maleficient ($757.2 million) and X-men: Days Of Future Past ($746.0 million) are ahead of Guardians this year for worldwide box office gross.

Iron Man 3 ($1.2 billion) and The Avengers ($1.5 billion) are at the two top spots for the Marvel Studios movies to date.

Domestically, Guardians of the Galaxy is the best performing movie with $327,836,000 million.

Marvel has given Guardians of the Galaxy 2 a July 28, 2017 release which will see James Gunn return to direct.

Captain America 3 Directors Said Civil War Is Highly Unlikely (Video)

Two days ago saw word hit that Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to star in Captain America 3, with the storyline adapting the Marvel Comics Civil War event that pitted hero vs. hero, and namely, Iron Man vs. Captain America.

Interestingly enough, the directors of Captain America 2 and Captain America 3, Anthony and Joe Russo, talked about Civil War being a part of the Marvel Studios universe about a month ago where Joe Russo stated it was too complex and highly unlikely.

You know it’s really a function of how much story can you fit into this universe. Certainly we know Thanos is coming. There is a a lot of story real estate that needs to be covered in order to tee up what is clearly going to be a massive storyline. Would something like Civil War ever fit into that? I don’t know. It’s complex. There is a lot of characters. Marvel doesn’t have ownership over some of the key players in Civil War. I would say it is probably doubtful, but you know I don’t run Marvel, so I can never say to you that it couldn’t happen, but I would say it’s probably highly unlikely.

The original report surrounding Captain America 3 and Civil War stated the event would play out into the Marvel movies for years to come. It also said there was some contention getting Robert Downey Jr. signed, which is possibly why Joe Russo was hesitant about talking about Civil War. Of course, it’s also possible that Joe Russo simply wanted to steer people away from the fact that Captain America 3 will feature Civil War and lead into The Avengers 4 and the other Marvel movies.

Regarding Marvel Studios not having the rights to the key players that took part in the comic book storyline, obviously similar to the other Marvel movies, the films would be an adaptation of the comic book event and go a different route.

Marvel has yet to officially confirm the news.

Robert Downey Jr. Says The Avengers 2 Is Better Than Guardians of the Galaxy

Robert Downey Jr. has been making the rounds promoting his latest movie, The Judge.

The actor has made mention of Iron Man 4 a few times, and now talks a bit about The Avengers 2, which hits next May.

In the below video, Robert Downey Jr. thinks that The Avengers 2 might be the best Marvel movie to date.

This new Avengers may well be the best Marvel movie. By the way, that is saying a lot because I thought Guardians of the Galaxy was great, and Iron Man 3 turned out great. Cap 2 was awesome. There will be some surprises in the next little while, too.

“The Avengers: Age Of Ultron” hits May 1, 2015 directed by Joss Whedon starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Paul Bettany as Vision, with James Spader as Ultron.

Punisher Cameo In Captain America 2

It’s learned that a certain vigilante apparently made a cameo in Captain America 2.

Co-director Joe Russo attended a signing event in Hollywood where he told Coming Soon about it.

When Nick Fury is being attacked in the streets, he gets the moment he needs to escape when a yellow Penske truck slams into his attackers. Later, when Agent Sitwell is thrown into traffic, guess what hits him? Not just a Penske truck, but the Russos reveal, the very same Penske truck.

“The man who drives that truck,” Joe deadpans, joking that the driver is a candidate for a future Marvel One-Shot, “Is very highly trained. He thinks on his own terms. He’s got a plan and a very specific skill set.”

Marvel Studios does have the film rights for Punisher, so hopefully Russo was joking too much and we’ll eventually get the Punisher back on the big screen.

Check out the Punisher short film that was released a couple of years ago, Dirty Laundry, featuring Thomas Jane:
