Anthony Mackie teases what’s ahead for Avengers: Doomsday, confirming filming is kicking off and hyping the return of the Russo brothers and classic Marvel vibes.
Mackie recently played Captain America in Brave New World; however, it seems Mackie as Cap has failed to resonate with MCU fans, as Brave New World is among the lowest-grossing MCU movies to date.
Fans, and it seems Mackie, are hoping all that changes with Avengers: Doomsday.
“That old Marvel” feeling returns
“Yeah, man, we’re kicking on down the road, so everybody’s getting excited, and we’re getting the band back together,” Mackie told IGN while promoting the upcoming release of Peacock’s Twisted Metal Season 2.
Mackie continued, “We’re supposed to go out this week and we’ll be out there doing it. Everybody’s excited. I feel with the script and having the Russo brothers back, it’s going to be great.”
Mackie added, “I’m really excited for what this project is going to be. It’s going to give the audience that old Marvel feeling that they always had.”
Excited for Spider-Man
Prior to the release of Brave New World, Mackie also seemed to confirm the return of Tom Holland as Spider-Man for Avengers: Doomsday; however, Holland wasn’t named as one of the 27 members of the cast, a list that does feature Mackie.
“Hey, Tom. Looking forward to seeing you when I get to London, baby. You’re beautiful,” said Mackie at the time.
Following the casting announcement, Robert Downey Jr. and the official Marvel Studios social media accounts did tease more actors who haven’t been confirmed, so the list will likely grow. Rumors offer Chris Evans is returning along with Hayley Atwell.

Plot
The official plot hasn’t been released, though a recently leaked set video offers a big clue which seems to line up with the Secret Wars comics involving Doctor Doom and Battleworld.
