Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Tease Goes Flat As Big Surprise Is Just Coffee

Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Tease Goes Flat As Big Surprise Is Just Coffee

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer hype just took a weird turn, as the Russo Brothers’ big Latveria tease appears to have led to coffee instead of footage.

After days of teasing the Latveria logo on Instagram, fans expected something big tied to Avengers: Doomsday. A trailer. A teaser. Maybe a first look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

Instead, images and video from SXSW London show a Dom Latveria Coffee pop-up in east London, complete with branded coffee bags, a menu, and Doom-themed marketing.

Major disappointment.

Update: Video shows Joe and Anthony Russo arriving at the coffee shop and signing autographs for fans, and video from their panel has been released. Joe Russo confirms Secret Wars is in pre-production.

Dom Latveria Coffee Opens In London

The pop-up branch of Dom Latveria Coffee is now open near the SXSW London festival.

In reality, it appears to be a rebranded Flying Horse Coffee outlet in Shoreditch. The address teased by the Russos lines up with Flying Horse Coffee when checked on Google Street View.

The coffee bags feature the same Latveria-style logo the Russos have been teasing and are labeled “Dom Latveria Coffee.”

The bag also reads, “The official coffee of world domination.”

Other text includes, “Approved by the ministry of morale” and “Resistance is delicious.”

Product info on the bag says the coffee is harvested from the “Finca Latveria Reserve” by “those who serve.” In reality, these appear to be standard arabica beans wrapped in Marvel marketing.

“Richards Was Wrong” Teases Fantastic Four

The pop-up does include one interesting Avengers: Doomsday tease.

A sign at the outlet reportedly reads, “Welcome to Latveria,” followed by the phrase, “Richards was wrong.”

That is a clear nod to Reed Richards, the leader of the Fantastic Four, played by Pedro Pascal in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie and Avengers: Doomsday.

The line suggests Marvel is starting to frame the movie’s conflict around Doctor Doom, Latveria, and Reed Richards.

Still, fans expecting a trailer probably wanted more than a coffee menu.

Fans Expected An Avengers: Doomsday Trailer

The Russo Brothers fueled the speculation by posting the Latveria-style symbol, the #DomLatveria hashtag, and a London address.

The post also said the event starts June 2 at 10am BST, with a “surprise” at 2pm BST.

Naturally, Marvel fans thought the Avengers: Doomsday trailer could be dropping.

Instead, the surprise appears to be a Doom-themed coffee pop-up.

It’s a clever marketing stunt if you are into coffee, but the hype might have worked too well. When fans are waiting for the first look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, a bag of coffee is not exactly going to break the internet. Watch the four previous teasers here.

Marvel May Be Saving The Trailer

Worth noting, Avengers: Doomsday is still around seven months away from release.

Marvel may be saving the first trailer for a bigger stage, possibly San Diego Comic-Con in July or Disney’s D23 in August, where the studio can control the room and make a bigger splash.

The Russo Brothers are directing Avengers: Doomsday, which gets released on December 18, 2026.

Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU as Doctor Doom.

The confirmed cast includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Letitia Wright, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Danny Ramirez, Hannah John-Kamen, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Channing Tatum, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Lewis Pullman, Robert Downey Jr., and Kathryn Newton.

For now, the Avengers: Doomsday trailer remains under wraps.

Doctor Doom has coffee, though, at least.
