Watch: Alice Through the Looking Glass Extended Spot

Disney has released a new extended spot for Alice Throught The Looking Glass, which stars Johnny Depp.

Alice Through The Looking Glass a May 27, 2016 release directed by James Bobin also starring Matt Lucas, Ed Speelers, and the voices of Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman, Toby Jones, Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, Paul Whitehouse, and Barbara Windsor.

Synopsis:

In Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” an all-new spectacular adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories, Alice returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter. Directed by James Bobin, who brings his own unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in 2010 with “Alice in Wonderland,” the film is written by Linda Woolverton based on characters created by Lewis Carroll and produced by Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd and Tim Burton with John G. New Ghostbusters Reboot Toys Hint At More Of The Big Bads

Cosmic Book News previously posted a first look at the Funko Pop! Ghostbusters figures, which may have further offered a look at the villains in the movie.

One in particular we suggested might be the new version of “Slimer” (a friendly ghost of some sort perhaps); however, a few of you simply thought it might be a Funko based on the ghost used in the logo.

Now new Ghostbusters toys are revealed at Toy Fair which suggest the ghost is actually a baddie in the movie.

Check out pics below where the ghost can be seen with an evil smile with sharp teeth.

We also see what looks to be some sort of demon (or dragon) — as well as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man!

Again, it’s unknown if these are directly for the Ghostbusters reboot or just for the merchandise line.

A LEGO set also offered a potential look at a villain.

We may know more on March 3rd when the Ghostbusters trailer officially gets released.

Watch: Star Wars: Episode VIII Begins Filming & Cast Announcement

Disney has announced that filming has begun on Star Wars: Episode VIII, releasing the above video as well as announcing the cast.

If you haven’t seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet, you may want to skip the above video as it contains a spoiler.

The new cast members include Benicio Del Toro (note: who won’t be returning for Guardians of the Galaxy 2), Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.

Returning cast members include Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis.

Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.

Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.  New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski. How about Kevin Nash For Cable in Deadpool 2?

With Deadpool being such a success and a sequel already green lit, who could play Cable in Deadpool 2?

Stephen Lang has already taken to Twitter to offer he wants to play the role, Rob Liefeld has previously offered up Jon Hamm, and other fans have recommended everyone from Liam Neeson to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ron Perlman.

One new name that I haven’t really seen on anyone’s list is WWE Superstar Kevin Nash.

Nash, aka “Big Sexy,” isn’t a stranger to the Hollywood scene as he had supporting roles in John Wick, Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL. Nash might be a good choice to be paired with Reynolds as he isn’t that well known of an actor, he does look the part, and his type of attitude and humor he is known for in the WWE (and honestly in real life) would probably work for Cable and the Deadpool sequel.

Plus it’s probably safe to say that Nash is just too sweet.

James Gunn Responds To Hollywood Exec About Deadpool

Deadpool has blown away all expectations and has amassed the February box office opening weekend record netting $132.1 million for its three day opening ($150 million when President’s Day is accounted for).

The numbers fly in the face of just about every movie studio executive out there and especially Fox Studios who was hesitant (like 11 years hesitant) to movie forward on an R-rated superhero flick. Only after the test footage was “leaked,” did Fox finally see the light of day — and potential for cash in their wallets.

In their attempt to spin blame away from the studios dropping the ball about Deadpool’s success, Deadline has a quote from a non-Fox studios executive who offered the following reason:

“The film has a self-deprecating tone that’s riotous. It’s never been done before. It’s poking fun at Marvel. That label takes itself so seriously; can you imagine them making fun of themselves in a movie? They’d rather stab themselves.”

This has caused Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn to respond with a lengthy post blasting Deadline and the studio exec, which reads in part: 

Deadpool wasn’t that. Deadpool was its own thing. THAT’S what people are reacting to. It’s original, it’s damn good, it was made with love by the filmmakers, and it wasn’t afraid to take risks.

For the theatrical experience to survive, spectacle films need to expand their definition of what they can be. They need to be unique and true voices of the filmmakers behind them. They can’t just be copying what came before them.

The film has a self-deprecating tone that’s riotous. It’s never been done before. It’s poking fun at Marvel. That label takes itself so seriously, can you imagine them making fun of themselves in a movie? They’d rather stab themselves.”

That’s a quote from Deadline Hollywood, attributing it to a Hollywood “suit.” I love Deadline and get a lot of my film business news from them. And I love Deadpool even more – the film is hilariously funny, has lots of heart, and is exactly what we need right now, taking true risks in spectacle film – but COME THE FUCK ON. That’s no reason to rewrite history. This quote has to have been said by the dumbest fucking Hollywood exec in the history of dumb fucking Hollywood execs.

Let’s ignore Guardians for a moment, a movie that survives from moment to moment building itself up and cutting itself down – God knows I’m biased about that one. But what do you think Favreau and Downey did in Iron Man? What the fuck was Ant-Man??!

Come on, Deadline.

After every movie smashes records people here in Hollywood love to throw out the definitive reasons why the movie was a hit. I saw it happen with Guardians. It “wasn’t afraid to be fun” or it “was colorful and funny” etc etc etc. And next thing I know I hear of a hundred film projects being set up “like Guardians,” and I start seeing dozens of trailers exactly like the Guardians trailer with a big pop song and a bunch of quips. Ugh.

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

Deadpool wasn’t that. Deadpool was its own thing. THAT’S what people are reacting to. It’s original, it’s damn good, it was made with love by the filmmakers, and it wasn’t afraid to take risks.

For the theatrical experience to survive, spectacle films need to expand their definition of what they can be. They need to be unique and true voices of the filmmakers behind them. They can’t just be copying what came before them.

So, over the next few months, if you pay attention to the trades, you’ll see Hollywood misunderstanding the lesson they should be learning with Deadpool. They’ll be green lighting films “like Deadpool” – but, by that, they won’t mean “good and original” but “a raunchy superhero film” or “it breaks the fourth wall.” They’ll treat you like you’re stupid, which is the one thing Deadpool didn’t do.

But hopefully in the midst of all this there will be a studio or two that will take the right lesson from this – like Fox did with Guardians by green-lighting Deadpool – and say – “Boy, maybe we can give them something they don’t already have.”

And that’s who is going to succeed.

WB Worried About Batman Vs. Superman Because of Popcorn Marvel Movies?

A couple of days ago saw word hit that Warner Bros. is worried about Batman Vs. Superman and the Justice League universe.

Now it’s being said the blame is not with the quality of the movie itself, but with the audience.

According to Batman On Film, WB is indeed worried about how audiences will react to Batman Vs. Superman and how the film will perform at the box office (isn’t any studio when a new movie is coming out?).

The site goes on to suggest WB may be nervous that since Batman vs. Superman isn’t “popcorn fluff” (meaning a Marvel film) that audiences won’t understand the movie, but the site states not to worry because the Christopher Nolan Batman movies definitely weren’t “popcorn” and they were a big success (note: Nolan apparently isn’t involved with Batman Vs. Superman at all).

Regarding the previous rumor that stated a new standalone Ben Affleck Batman movie could replace Justice League, Batman On Film says they can’t shoot that rumor down as obviously if Batman Vs. Superman doesn’t perform up to expectations, things could change (which is why Batman was added to the Man of Steel sequel — more on that below). 

It’s further said there is a group at WB who want Batman to be the focus and are concerned about Batman being a part of a team-up film.

I can also corroborate what they say about Batman being added to the Man of Steel sequel as I’ve been told WB wanted Man of Steel to hit a billion dollars at the box office. Immediately following Man of Steel‘s opening, there was talk of a straight up sequel wih Superman being the focus; however, as Man of Steel‘s box office performance slowed, that’s when Batman came into the picture.

I was told essentially a Man of Steel sequel script was combined with a Batman script for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We do know that Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck brought Chris Terrio on board to rewrite the David Goyer script, which I am guessing was the Man of Steel sequel. We also know Lex Luthor’s part was rewritten to accomodate Jesse Eisenberg (a younger Lex Luthor instead of Goyer’s older version).

All that said – again like any other movie – if Batman Vs. Superman performs well at the box office, all the rumors will be proven just to be speculation and nothing more.

The Batman Vs. Superman Good Morning America event which was originally planned for Monday, February 15th has been switched to Tuesday, February 16th.

Both Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are confirmed to be appearing, and it’s thought new footage will debut as well.

Haunted by her past, and coping with unimaginable loss and regret, the story explores Michonne across a three episodes of miniseries event. In this premiere episode, ‘In Too Deep,’ Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship The Companion as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies. The Batman that is a part of the Suicide Squad line also offers a slight, but not surprising spoiler. It’s also unclear if the Lex Luthor figure is for Batman Vs. Superman or just a part of the regular line, but it does look a lot like Jesse Eisenberg.

Taron Egerton Rumored For Jason Todd In Batman Vs. Superman Justice League Universe

A new rumor has hit the net regarding Jason Todd in the DC Cinematic Universe.

The latest has it that the star of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Taron Egerton, is being eyed for the role of Jason Todd in the Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League movie universe.

In the comics, Jason Todd also happens to be Nightwing as well as the Red Hood.

An earlier batch of rumors suggested the Ben Affleck solo Batman movie may feature the Red Hood in an adaptation of the DC Comics Batman storylines “A Death in the Family” and “Under The Hood.”

“Jason Todd has returned from the grave as the Red Hood, working in the shadows to make people think he’s Batman, while making Batman look like a criminal,” the previous rumor stated in part.

The current Taron Egerton Jason Todd rumor comes from The Daily Planet DCEU Rumors Twitter feed, which also states other actors may be up for the role, but that Taron Egerton is the current favorite to play the role.

Watch: “Will Batman v Superman Suck?” Screen Junkies Video Causes Controversy

Following the final Batman Vs. Superman trailer (watch below), the Screen Junkies YouTube channel posted one of their “Movie Fights” that asks “Will Batman V Superman Suck?”

The video was created on the date the trailer dropped, but interestingly enough, was posted following the recent controversial rumor that WB is worried about Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League.

The video itself is not without its own controversy as fans are now accusing Screen Junkies of being Marvel shills and intentionally trying to create negative feelings surrounding Batman Vs. Superman.

A petition has also been launched asking fans to unsubscribe from their channel.

All of you complaining about the title – Why not watch the fight first? 🙂 Because guess what….No one says it’ll suck! Wonder Woman Amazon Casting Descriptions & Italy Locations Revealed

Following filming in the UK, Patty Jenkins is taking Wonder Woman to Italy to flim scenes in April.

Now a casting call reveals descriptions for Amazons, and some of the locations have also become known.

The Italian site sassilive (translated via Bing) reveals a casting call for Amazons was held a few days ago requesting women between the age of 18 and 60 years old. The description reads women are wanted who are “skinny, natural, elegant, of different ethnicities,” and with a height of at least 5 feet 8 inches. It’s further said they wanted the women in “tight-fitting clothes, like leggings and top,” in order to “evaluate whether they can play the role required.”

A Twitter user also posted some location images for Wonder Woman said to be filming in Apulia, Italy in April.

Wonder Woman is filming under the working title “Nighingale” and is also said to be filming in Matera, Italy.

Wonder Woman has a June 23, 2017 release directed by Patty Jenkins starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis , Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis and Connie Nielsen.

Dan Amboyer Confirmed For Batman Vs. Superman & Role Revealed: Green Lantern?

Following rumors, it’s confirmed Dan Amboyer has a role in Batman Vs. Superman.

Pop Sugar spoke with the actor who talked about filming the movie where it’s revealed Dan Abmoyer is playing a character named “Lieutenant Christie.” iMDB also lists Amboyer as playing a “Drone Pilot,” and the latest rumor stated Amboyer is actually Green Lantern (you can read more about that here).

What was the set like?

It was awesome. I got there right at the beginning of shooting and it was crazy because my first day people were showing me around and all of a sudden the Superman suit comes by — and it’s giant. It’s not something you can hang up. So that was insane. But what I thought was really interesting was that they filmed a lot of it on film, not digital. So a lot of the sets were actually built. So, all of a sudden, you’re on another planet, literally. Everything is so intricate and perfect. You think so much of that is just CGI and postproduction, but it was actually there. 

On working with Zack Snyder:

 It was interesting. He was a cool guy. I don’t know if people know this, but he’s really big about fitness on set, even as far as catering. So, he’s always encouraging healthy food, which is great. He even makes you do push-ups in between takes.

On what scenes he filmed:

 Um, I don’t know what I can say that’s not spoilery. So, let’s just say, I filmed good ones.

Amboyer reveals he auditioned for two other DC superheroes:

I auditioned to play Superman in Man of Steel originally and I auditioned for The Flash. I’ve constantly been coming back to these characters.

Confirms other cameos in addition to Wonder Woman and Doomsday:

 It’s hard for me to keep up with what’s officially been announced, but yes, there are some other possibilities.

Aboyer seems to indicate his name in the movie is used for undercover work (which obviously may mean he has a different name):

 Oh, yes. It does appear, but it’s kind of an undercover thing. The name appears on me at one point.

Amboyer is teased about his favorite color being green.

No? Blue. Definitely blue, but I appreciate nature as well and everything green.
