The details include that Keanu Reeves will be reunited with director Francis Lawrence who made his directorial debut on the original film.
Akiva Goldsman is writing the screenplay and is known for lots of projects including Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, A Beautiful Mind, I Robot, the Fringe TV series, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Dark Tower, and episodes of Star Trek: Discovery, Titans, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Picard, most of which he also produced.

It has been reported that J.J. Abrams’ original plan for a new Constantine project was for a series on HBO Max featuring a POC actor as Constantine, but now Variety offers that project is dead along with Abrams’ Madame X series.
Deadline also adds the new Keanu Reeves Constantine movie came about as a result of David Zaslav’s choice to head Warner Bros. films, Warner Bros Pictures Group Co-Chairs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.
Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Erwin Stoff are also executive producing.
Fans and Keanu Reeves have wanted more Constantine for years
The first Constantine was released in 2005 and made over $230 million worldwide where it has quite the cult following.
Fans and even Keanu Reeves have wanted more Constantine for years.
“I love playing Constantine. John Constantine,” Reeves filled in Esquire last year. “I’ve played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don’t even know. I think it’s over ten. But anyway, I’d love to have the chance to play Constantine again.”
Constantine was recently played by Matt Ryan in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow where it has been reported Ryan was phased out of the role due to the Abrams version.
A version of the character is also featured in the Neil Gaiman Sandman series on Netflix, played by Doctor Who‘s Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine.
