Hasbro Only Cancels Gina Carano Action Figures; Spin Is In

This, here, is what we call spin and it comes courtesy of Hasbro and Deadline in regards to the cancellation of the Gina Carano action figures of Cara Dune for The Mandalorian.

Over the weekend, it became known that Hasbro had canceled production on the Gina Carano Star Wars Car Dune action figures and wouldn’t be fulfilling any of the orders, which saw all the preorders get canceled.

It’s said the Black Series and the Vintage Collection series figures of Cara Dune have been canceled but the Retro Collection version will still be released (see below), which reportedly has sold out and is going for a lot of dinero on eBay.

Hasbro comments on Gina Carano action figure cancellation

Hasbro has finally commented on the topic but came up short when addressing the cancelations (via Deadline):

News went wild over the past two days about the action figure, spurred by a customer service note from fanboy toy retailer BigBadToyStore. However, Hasbro hadn’t provided a specific statement or confirmation about the toy no longer being available.

“We’re thrilled to have the privilege of creating products featuring characters and stories from The Mandalorian for our fans. Hasbro has completed development of all season 1 and 2 product featuring Cara Dune, and there are no current plans to create more. We are actively working with our retail partners to address existing orders,” Hasbro SVP Global Communications Julie Duffy said Tuesday.

Deadline attempts to spin things but gets caught

Deadline also adds the following from their shill “insiders” and attempts to make Disney, Star Wars, and Hasbro look good by offering:

Some insiders told us we weren’t apt to see a lot of Season 2 Mandalorian action figures since the series isn’t coming back for a while; spinoff The Book of Boba Fett will be dropping this fall instead. It sounds like that’s the case as Hasbro is specifically canceling Cara Dune toys.

So, Deadline tries to spin things that since The Mandalorian Season 3 isn’t coming out for who knows how long that Hasbro has opted not to release new toys and canceled Cara Dune?

Yeah, okay, that’s pure BS. Disney and Hasbro don’t want fans to stop buying Star Wars merchandise as they did following The Last Jedi, so Deadline spins this nonsense. The merch is finally seeing an uptick due to the popularity of The Mandalorian, but Disney and Lucasfilm again can’t help themselves and continue to screw up Star Wars.

Hasbro cancels Cara Dune, none of the other figures

Checking Hasbro’s official info they sent me back in September of 2020 that listed the figures, we see the Gina Carano Cara Dune figures are the ONLY ones that are canceled. The other figures listed are already out or are confirmed for preorder and are coming out this year:

It’s just as I said in my last article, according to the official info, the figures were all supposed to be released Fall 2020, but I’m guessing that since Disney wanted to fire Carano for a while, they put the kibosh on Hasbro producing new Cara Dune action figures, but the Retro Collection version had already gone into production, so it’s getting released.

Again, only the Cara Dune figures have been canceled, according to the list of figures above.

And here is a bonus for collectors: As part of the info above released back in September by Hasbro, a MONOPOLY STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN Edition has also been released which happens to feature a Gina Carano Cara Dune figure, and right now it can be found at or below its normal price.
