DC Comics has revealed the last page spoiler to Green Lantern Corps #14.
Guy Gardner is forced to resign from the Corps after a battle wipes out his fellow Lanterns, with himself as only the survivor!
In “Nothing Man,” Guy Gardner and his team are forced to confront the Third Army, who have just been unleashed onto the Corps. As an epic battle commences, they discover that this hostile alien threat is practically immune to anything they can construct from their power rings. The Green Lanterns fight valiantly but all fall in battle … except Guy Gardner.
Faced with the consequences of his choices, Gardner retreats back to Oa and is asked to report to the Planetary Citadel to meet with the Guardians. There, the Guardians tell him he has brought shame to the Corps by disobeying direct orders and leaving his teammates to be brutally murdered and/or recruited to the Third Army. As punishment, Gardner is informed that he has only one choice left: to resign from the Corps.
Our own Chris “DOC” Bushley raved about Green Lantern #14 in his review:
“This tale, of a broken Corps, solidifies itself as one of the best in this series. It makes characters question the very reasons behind their decisions and puts them at odds, not against an enemy, but with themselves. Part mystery play, part internal character piece, Tomasi has out done himself in the deconstruction of the Green Lantern Corps! There is dissension, slight of hand and, most importantly, fear that is creeping through this book. And by the final page, one Corps members decisions will have him severed from the rest of the Corps!”
Speaking of that final page, here it is!
“Rise of the Guardians” continues in next week’s Green Lantern: The New Guardians #13.
