Black Panther Fails To Win Producers Guild Award

As the Oscars race continues, similar to the Golden Globes, Black Panther fails to win an award at the Producers Guild of America Awards.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was nominated for “The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures,” with the award going to Green Book producers Jim Burke, Charles B. Wessler, Brian Currie, Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga.

The Golden Globes saw Black Panther nominated for three awards, but it failed to pick one up.

Disney has been campaigning hard for Black Panther to win at the Oscars for Best Movie, Best Director, Best Visual Effects and a host of other categories.

“I would like to see the hard work and the effort and the vision and the belief of the talented filmmaker Ryan Coogler, who sat across the table from us a few years ago and said, ‘I have been wrestling with questions about my past and my heritage and I think I really want to tell a story within this movie,’ ” Kevin Feige recently said. “And that he did it so unbelievably well and with so much impact … seeing that potentially being recognized is what excites me the most. I think it would be wonderful. The people behind the camera, the people on screen that acted in the movie, any of them being recognized would bring us great joy because they did tremendous work. And it’s always nice when tremendous work is recognized.”

The 2019 Oscars will take place Sunday, Feb. 24 live on ABC with the Avengers in attendance.
