Birds Of Prey Gets Early VOD Release As Coronavirus Shuts Everything Down

Birds Of Prey Gets Early VOD Release As Coronavirus Shuts Everything Down

DC’s big flop, Birds of Prey, is gettings its video-on-demand digital and home release date moved up as a result of the coronavirus.

The flick will barely crack $200 million – not enough to make a profit, according to reports – and was scheduled to open soon in Japan.

It’s announced Birds of Prey will become available through VOD starting next week on Tuesday, March 24.

The Gentleman, starring Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam, will also be available through VOD on Mar. 24.

The Invisible Man

Universal Pictures releasing movies early through VOD

With movie theaters closed around the world, studios are looking for additional outlets to release movies; Universal Pictures is releasing The Invisible Man through VOD early as well, starting this Friday along with the recent controversial flick, The Hunt, and Emma.

Universal’s Trolls World Tour was also scheduled to be released in theaters on April 10 and now will be released through VOD the same day.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Season 7

Other studios may follow suit

I also suggested Sony should release Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot early on digital, as the movie absolutely bombed at the box office, but nothing has been announced as of yet.

Depending on how long movie theaters are closed for, it’s probable more studios will release films through VOD.

Fans have also asked Disney and ABC to release the final season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD early, which has seen support from actors involved, including Clark Gregg who retweeted the following:

Black Widow movie

Coronavirus canceling movies, tv shows

The movie industry looks to be losing billions as release dates have been pushed back and production has stopped.

Release dates have been postponed for films such as James Bond: No Time To Die, Fast and Furious 9, A Quiet Place II, New Mutants, Mulan and more.

There is even talk of Disney delaying Black Widow and WB moving back Wonder Woman 1984.

Production has been delayed on flicks such as The Batman, The Matrix 4, and Marvel is reportedly losing upwards of $300,000 a day by halting production on Shang-Chi in Australia.

TV shows are also suffering as filming on The Flash, Supergirl and Batwoman are all on hiatus in addition to The Witcher Season 2 and more.

Tom Hanks, wife Rita Wilson, Idris Elba and Game of Thrones / The Witcher actor Kristofer Hivju have all tested positive for the coronavirus and are said to be doing okay with only mild symptoms.

Greetings from Norway! Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Corona virus. My familiy and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health – I only have mild symptoms of a cold. There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading. Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals. Please take care of each other, keep your distance, and stay healthy! Please visit your country’s Center for Disease Control’s website, and follow the regulations for staying safe and protecting not just yourselves, but our entire community, and especially those at risk like the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions. @grymolvaerhivju #fightcorona #solidarity #takecare #folkehelseinstituttet Thanks to @panoramaagency
