Zelda Movie Gets New Release Date As Nintendo Moves It Up One Week

The Legend of Zelda movie is now arriving a little earlier.

Nintendo announced the live-action Zelda movie has moved its worldwide theatrical release date from May 7, 2027, to April 30, 2027.

The update came from Shigeru Miyamoto through Nintendo’s official X account, where he said the team is working together to get the movie to fans as soon as possible.

Miyamoto’s message confirms the new date applies to the worldwide theatrical release of The Legend of Zelda live-action movie.

The film was previously set for May 7, 2027. It will now open one week earlier on April 30, 2027.

“Team Zelda” appears to be moving ahead at full speed, with Miyamoto saying the movie is now less than a year away.

Miyamoto says the team wants fans to see it sooner

In the post, Miyamoto said the team decided to change the release date so the movie could be delivered to fans “one week earlier,” with the production moving forward together.

The message also thanked fans for waiting and asked them to hold on a little longer until release.

Nintendo has not announced any story details with the date change.

The Legend of Zelda movie stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda.

The live-action adaptation is directed by Wes Ball, who previously directed Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Nintendo and Sony Pictures are bringing the movie to theaters, with Miyamoto producing alongside Avi Arad.

The movie marks Nintendo’s next major theatrical push after the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
