X-Men Return Not Going To Happen Says Anna Paquin

What should probably come as no surprise seeing how Disney recently purchased Fox Studios, and in addition to the franchise recently being rebooted, Anna Paquin says a return to the X-Men is not going to happen.

The actress most recently played Rogue in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which saw the timeline fixed, and with new actors and characters introduced in various movies, any further films featuring the original actors looks to be long over with.

“If there was a way that it made sense for my character to be in the world, of course. I feel like that’s my film family, because I’ve been making those movies since I was 16,” Anna Paquin explained to Variety. “But there’s been so many spinoffs and reboots and TV shows, so I’m not sure where Rogue or the other original characters fit into the current plotlines, so it’s probably not going to happen.”

Anna Paquin made her debut back in the 2000 X-Men alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, James Marsden as Cyclops and Halle Berry as Storm, but Fox Studios introduced new actors and characters in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Apocalypse.

Simon Kinberg is currently filming X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is thought to be the final movie featuring the newer actors and characters, and rumor has it that the New Mutants flick may never get released.

Regarding Disney purchasing Fox Studios, the deal is set to go through next year, which means the X-Men will be back at Marvel meaning characters such as Deadpool, Wolverine, the Fantastic Four and more will be able to cross over with the Avengers. It’s already been said some of the X-Men characters will be a part of Marvel TV as well, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said he is just waiting for the call.

Rumors also have it that Marvel wants to move forward with their X-Men universe ASAP, and that they are especially looking forward to recasting Wolverine.
