Yesterday saw it announced that composer Hans Zimmer will be returning to DC with the Wonder Woman 1984 movie, and with that comes a few other updates including X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Back in January saw it announced Han Zimmer will be scoring X-Men: Dark Phoenix for Fox Studios, but now it’s learned the composer has really no idea what is going on as massive reshoots are said to be underway.
The Hans-Zimmer.com website provides an update.
“X Men, he’s been working on that for a long time. But since the film seems to be under heavy reshoots all the time, he doesn’t even know when the whole thing is gonna be finished (it will have to, at some point ! lol),” the site posted along with the Wonder Woman 1984 news.
A fan followed up with a question asking if Hans Zimmer is considering leaving X-Men Dark Phoenix with all those massive reshoots going on, which saw the site offer Zimmer is on board for the long haul.
“As for X-Men, no, he’s definitely NOT quitting it, no matter what’s going on with the production,” the site confirms.
The site also offered the reason Hans Zimmer couldn’t score the first Wonder Woman movie is because he was in the middle of a tour, says the composer won’t be back for another Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Widows is completed, and Zimmer is currently working on Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Lion King.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix
Regarding the X-Men: Dark Phoenix reshoots, the film is said have had its third act (ending) rewritten by director and writer Simon Kinberg who recently started filming the new scenes in Canada. The reshoots, while initially said to take place for three months, are actually said to take only a couple of weeks. Simon Kinberg also recently teased the reshoots by releasing a set photo.
At one time it was even rumored that X-Men: Dark Phoenix was going to be canceled along with New Mutants as a result of the recent Disney purchase of Fox Studios, but now the rumor has it that only New Mutants will be canceled. X-Men: Dark Phoenix looks to be released prior to the Disney deal going through, but New Mutants is supposed to come out August 2019 following the Disney deal. It’s been said Marvel Studios wants to move quickly on their new X-Men universe and doesn’t want the problems associated with X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants weighing things down.
The movie has a current release date of February 14, 2019 and stars Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Xavier), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), and Evan Peters (Quicksilver), with Jessica Chastain.
