Insomniac’s Wolverine video game is still slated for a 2026 release, with reports confirming it won’t arrive until at least the start of fiscal year 2026. That means fans shouldn’t expect it before April of that year.
Development Priority
According to mp1st.com, which also reported on that Venom video game info, the Wolverine project remains the priority at Insomniac, which makes sense given how early the rumored Venom game is in comparison.
It was also previously reported that development is said to be progressing well, with positive early feedback from internal testers, via Insider Gaming‘s Tom Henderson.

What We Knew From the 2023 Leaks
The 2023 Insomniac breach exposed a lot of early material, including gameplay snippets, the title screen, and the cast list. Characters tied to the project include:
- Leech
- Davina
- Tyger Tiger
- Mystique
- Callisto
- Omega Red
- Sunfire
- Sabretooth
- Nathaniel Essex (Mr. Sinister)
- Sasquatch
- Lady Deathstrike
It was also revealed that Liam McIntyre, the Australian actor known for Spartacus, The Flash, and voice roles in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Gears of War 4, would be playing Wolverine.

Current Status
The new reporting aligns with what was already suspected: Wolverine will arrive no sooner than fiscal 2026, meaning the second half of the calendar year is most likely. Nothing official has been announced by Sony, but the game remains firmly on track.
Following the leaks, the Wolverine video game did receive backlash for character depictions, particularly Jean Grey, so it remains to be seen how much from the leaks makes its way into the final version.
