Coming out of this weekend’s Brazil Comic-Con, Sony has released poster art for the Venom movie which teases the classic line from the comics, “We are Venom.”
The Brazil Comic-Con also saw Tom Hardy and Ruben Fleischer make a surprise appearance via live satellite where they revealed the Venom movie is in part based on the Venom: Lethal Protector comic book storyline.
In addition to the promo art, Tom Hardy was spotted wearing a Venom t-shirt, and the audience at the Brazil Comic-Con held up a huge Venom movie banner.
The Marvel Comics Venom: Lethal Protector story sees Venom and Spider-Man come to a truce as long as Venom commits no crimes. Venom then leaves for San Francisco, but Spider-Man eventually catches up with Venom thinking he’s gone back to being a bad guy only to eventually team up with Venom against five symbiotes who are the offspring of Venom: Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.
It remains to be seen how close the Venom movie will adapt the comic book story as Spider-Man won’t be featured in the movie, but Carnage will.
