Venom co-creator David Michelinie is backing fan favorite Alan Ritchson for Eddie Brock, and it turns out he’s been saying it for a while.
Michelinie — who also co-created Carnage, Ant-Man, and War Machine — was asked about Ritchson taking on the role.
In a surprising response, he revealed Ritchson was someone he’d already singled out as an ideal Eddie Brock.

Venom Co-Creator Backs Alan Ritchson
Michelinie explained he had previously posted photos of the Reacher star, including one shirtless shot and another of him yelling, noting he would be the “perfect Eddie/Venom.”
Via X: “I once posted pics of Ritchson—shirtless and one of him yelling—and said he’d make the perfect Eddie/Venom. So we’re on the same page.”
I asked David Michelinie, Co-Creator of Venom, what actor would be a faithful Eddie Brock and I suggested Alan Ritchson. Here's what he said:

Ritchson’s Superhero Buzz Extends Beyond Marvel
The fan casting doesn’t stop at Venom.
Ritchson has also been widely suggested to play Batman, and he’s openly said he wants a role in James Gunn’s DCU.
With both Marvel fans and creators now vouching for him, the actor is firmly in the center of the superhero conversation.

Venom reboot?
Sony’s Marvel universe is currently over, and Tom Hardy is done with the Venom role.
It’s been said Sony is concentrating on its Spider-Man-centric properties, which includes the Tom Holland movies, the Spider-Verse animated films, and the Nicolas Cage Spider-Noir series. A Spider-Punk project has also been rumored.
Venom is a fan-favorite character and Sony’s most successful of the spinoff franchises, so maybe Venom will be back sooner rather than later.
A Venom video game has also been in development.
