Alan Ritchson Wants To Play Batman

Reacher star Alan Ritchson is apparently rumored to play Batman, and the actor who is no stranger to superheroes says he would love to play the Dark Knight.

Alan Ritchson played Aquaman on Smallville and recently Hawk on the live-action DC Titans series so he would be right at home playing a new version of the Caped Crusader.

The actor, who looks like a version of the Hulk, is currently starring in Prime Video’s Reacher which just debuted Season 2 as the first three episodes are now available.

While talking about the new season, Alan Ritchson addressed playing Batman.

“With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman,” he told the Fortress of Solitude.

Regarding the rumors, talk about Alan Ritchson playing Batman came about when Kevin Smith recently referred to the actor’s version of Reacher as “Batman without a cape.”

“You know, [Batman without a cape] is a great analogy, actually,” said Ritchson. “But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler.”

The actor also talked up Reacher vs Batman.

“But I mean, Reacher would be harder to go down in a fight. Just him and his toothbrush, and [Batman] be like, “Damn, he’s holding on. It’s been 30 minutes.” So, it would be fun,” he said.

Regarding playing Batman, James Gunn is going with a new version for his DCU in the Brave and the Bold movie, so Gunn will indeed need a new actor to play the role. Gunn did cast David Corenswet as his new Superman who also happened to be a favorite to play the new Man of Steel by fans.

Zack Snyder has also said he would return to DC to adapt Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. That version of Batman is pretty jacked, so Alan Ritchson fits the bill.

Ritchson is also starring with former Superman Henry Cavill in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare where he said Henry is the “top man.”

New episodes of Reacher Season 2 are released on Fridays on Prime Video.
