#RenewYoungJustice Trending Worldwide

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21788:]]

Trending worldwide earlier on Twitter was the hashtag: #RenewYoungJustice.

Young Justice writer and creator Greg Weisman and fans around the globe tweeted out support to bring back the Young Justice series that Cartoon Network cancelled rather abruptly in the Spring of 2013.

The retweets for support quickly numbered over 32,000 in just a couple of hours.

Weisman’s Twitter account is currently lit up with overwhelming support for bringing back the fan-favorite series.

“I hope the fandoms effort will bring the show back, it’s an amazing show!” one fan tweeted out enthusiastically.

“I had literal tears running down my cheeks,” another fan tweeted about the #RenewYoungJustice hashtag picking up steam. “Talk about intense.”

Likewise, Weisman responded to a fan’s question if he sees himself working on Young Justice in the future with: “I hope so.”

Weisman even provided the address that fans could write Cartoon Network to show their support, noting it should be a polite letter:

Cartoon Network
300 N 3rd St.
Burbank, CA 91502

Specific reasons why Young Justice was cancelled aren’t exactly known, but DC animated Paul Dini’s told Kevin Smith that network executives didn’t want girls watching the series.

Purple Man Teased For Jessica Jones Netflix Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21770:]]

Fans of the Marvel Comics know that David Tennant is playing Kilgrave in the Jessica Jones Netflix series, who in comics lore is also known as the Purple Man.

The Purple Man’s powers include using chemical pheromones to control and manipulate other people.

It’s unclear how close the Jessica Jones Netflix series will stick to the comic books, but the official Netflix page has been updated with a purple background (as well as the new Comic-Con logo), which may hint at the use of pheromones due to the cloudy nature of the image.

Likewise, previous set pics featuring Tennant revealed the actor in a purple suit as Kilgrave.

“Jessica Jones” premiers later this year starring Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Patricia “Trish” Walker), and Carrie-Anne Moss.

SyFy Cancels Haven

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21769:]]

SyFy has confirmed cancellation of Haven, with the 13-episode second half of season five being its last.

Showrunner Gabrielle Stanton noted the creative team was prepared for Season 5 to be the finish to the story, which should provide a satisfying conclusion.

“I’m sure as a fellow TV fan, there’s nothing more annoying than when a show kind of feels like it might be wrapping up, but they just don’t address it, they don’t come to any kind of satisfying conclusion,” Stanton told The Wrap. “I always think that’s cheating the audience a little bit, of a nice satisfying ending. So we really looked at these 13 episodes as if… If we were indeed going to end, what would be the best ending we could possibly do for Haven?”

Stanton does note a TV movie following the finale is always possible if there’s enough demand from the fans.

“I think it will feel satisfying on its own as a finale for a series as a whole,” she said. “But if fans wanted a TV movie after that, I bet you’d find some actors and writers who are very amenable to that.”

It’s also noted Haven could survive at another network or Netflix, with there being interest on the part of the creators and cast.

“I’m sure that [the show’s production companies] eOne and Piller/Segan/Shepard are out there looking at that option, which is out there now. It’s so cool, that that option now exists where it never used to. I can’t speak to it personally because I’m not involved in those discussions.”

“Haven” resumes Oct. 8 at 10/9c.

We see the Punisher is all bruised and beat-up after following some sort of fight scene. Wonder what the other guy looks like?

Daredevil and The Punisher are said to be more at odds over their personal philosophies for handing out justice in Season 2, rather than The Punisher being a straight-up villain. It’s been said due to the events at the end of Daredevil Season 1, that a power vacuum has occurred leaving Hell’s Kitchen open for a vigilante killing spree by The Punisher.

Friday The 13th TV Series Described As True Detective and Twin Peaks On Acid

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21737:]]

Recently it became known that a new Friday The 13th TV series is in development at The CW, and now new details have become known.

The new series was previously described as: The ongoing quest of a detective’s search for his missing brother that is somehow tied to Jason Vorhees, a long thought dead serial killer who has now returned to wreak havoc in the new Crystal Lake.

Legion Of Leia caught up with Steve Mitchell,  writer on the new Friday 13th series, who offered the following tidbits:

• The feel of the show is described as a “cross between the first season of True Detective and Twin Peaks on acid.”

• They didn’t want to do a weekly show about a guy wielding a machete chasing scantily clad women.

• They reinvented Crystal Lake as more of a thriving town similar to a Silicon Valley filled with young rich people who have a lot of time on their hands, and at the same time there are old people who grew up there (and remember Jason).

• The new Crystal Lake is said to be similar to the town from Jaws or Amityville 20 years later.

• The cop discovers his lost brother was looking into Jason: “Is this Jason or is this a copycat? Is it possible that Jason has been around all these years? Is Jason a monster? Is he real? Is he a serial killer? And really exploring who and what Jason is, is part of the whole thrill of the show.”

• The movies will be acknowledged in that the movies were made following the events of Jason; however, the young people just know Jason from the movies, while the older people there know what happened.

• Mitchell added: “The underlying thematic of the whole thing is that Jason is a monster in this town. He openly wears a mask. But everybody in this town wears a mask. Underneath those is the monster.”

“Powerless” DC Comedy TV Series Coming To NBC

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21736:]]

NBC decided to forgo Season 2 of Constantine for some reason, but now it’s learned they are not done with DC just yet.

Deadline reports NBC is developing a new DC comedy series said to be in the vein of The Office, but with super heroes, titled Powerless (and a lot similar to Marvel Comics’ Damage Control).

It’s said Powerless will be a half-hour single-camera comedy from A To Z creator Ben Queen and Warner Bros. TV based on characters from DC Comics that is a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics.

The show is about the “reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.”

It’s currently unknown which DC characters will appear on Powerless, but the report mentions not to expect the DC heavyweights like Batman or Superman (i.e. movie properties).

The focus of the series is on the ordinary, “power-less” folk working at the insurance company who often envy the men and women outside their window who make headlines with their supernatural powers.

No More DC Spinoffs For The CW: Open To Supergirl Crossover

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21695:]]

With four DC shows on the slate (Arrow, Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, iZombie), it’s learned The CW is putting a hold on anymore spinoffs or series from DC Comics.

The LA Times reports CW president Mark Pedowitz stated there are no plans for additional series at the Television Critics Association press tour.

“There is no intention, at this point, to spin anything else off,” Pedowitz said.

It’s also learned that The CW passed on Supergirl, which went to CBS, as The CW was intent on increasing their male viewership, which is why they decided to go with The Flash. The CW was actually approached with Supergirl before The Flash, but the article notes The CW didn’t want to “commit to another superhero series because it would detract from its overall mission to broaden out.”

While Supergirl is on another network, it’s created by the same team behind Arrow and The Flash; Pedowitz did note the three series will have cross-promotions, and Pedowitz also noted the possibility for a Supergirl/Arrow/Flash crossover is there.

“We’re open to crossovers,” Pedowitz said. “It’s [EP Greg Berlanti’s] call because he understands his shows.”

Jay Garrick was first teased with his helmet during Season 1, and it’s recently been learned Teddy Sears will be playing Jay Garrick for The Flash Season 2.

The poster also apparently gives a first look at Jay Garrick’s costume in Season 2 of The Flash.

Watch: Matt Ryan Confirms Constantine For Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21682:]]

Arrow has saved Constantine.

While the series may not be returning, it’s confirmed that Matt Ryan will be reprising as Constantine in an upcoming episode of Arrow.

Matt Ryan took to his Twitter account to post the following video that the rumors are true.

Likewise, Stephen Amell took to Twitter to respond with: “Hey, Matty… Welcome to Arrow!”

When NBC recently cancelled Constantine, Stephen Amell came out supporting the series stating he would even guest star on the show if it ended up getting picked up at another network. While that didn’t happen, at least Constantine will live on for one more episode this season on Arrow.

Update: EP Marc Guggenheim offered the following details (via TVInsider.com):

“We are super-crazy excited about this,” Guggenheim said of the “one-time-only deal,” which is currently scheduled for the fifth episode of Arrow‘s upcoming season. “Each year on the show, we have added and expanded the mythology with different elements. In Season 2 we introduced the idea of superpowers, last year brought in the League of Assassins, and for Season 4, we always had a plan to introduce magic and mysticism. We were already swimming in those waters and that’s why Constantine is this great organic little development.”

Guggenheim teases Constantine is brought into the series as a result of Sara Lance’s resurrection through use of the Lazarus Pit.

“Unlike Thea, who wasn’t fully dead, the consequences of using the pit on someone as dead as Sara was creates some unforeseen difficulties…and John Constantine is uniquely suited to help our team deal with those,” Guggenheim offered.

Guggenheim also says Matt Ryan will look like his usual hell blazing self, and that an original director is on board Arrow to helm the episode.

“The trench coat, the tie, the shirt…the whole wardrobe is being taken out for storage and shipped up to Vancouver.” Guggenheim said, adding tht John Badham, a director on Constantine, is also on board to direct the episode. “He is familiar with Constantine and Matt Ryan, so it’s a wonderful combination.”
