Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD Gets Renewed & Clark Gregg Offers Potential Spoiler

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24601:]]

Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD gets a fourth season as ABC has confirmed a renewal for this coming Fall.

The series returns with new episodes on Tuesday, and Clark Gregg recently offered a potential big turn for Phil Coulson.

“I don’t think he comes back with any easy answer. I think in the moment, it felt like the only course of action possible to him,” Clark Gregg told TV Guide about Coulson’s decision to kill Agent Ward in the mid-season finale. “I don’t think he’s going to know for some time if this was a terrible mistake that changes him and maybe turns him into a super-villain – it becomes, really, a show about a team run by a super-villain – or not.”

While Coulson may or may not become a super villain, the fate of Agent Ward was recently revealed.

Agents Of SHIELD airs Tuesdays on ABC at 9pm ET.

Ian McShane Cast In Starz & Neil Gaiman’s American Gods

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24588:]]

IAN MCSHANE CAST AS MR. WEDNESDAY IN STARZ AND FREMANTLEMEDIA’S “AMERICAN GODS”

The Golden Globe-winning Actor Will Play Mr. Wednesday in the Adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Blockbuster Fantasy Novel

Bryan Fuller and Michael Green Serve as Showrunners

Starz and FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) announced today that Ian McShane (“Deadwood,” “Ray Donovan”) has been cast as Mr. Wednesday in the upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed contemporary fantasy novel, American Gods. The series will begin shooting in April.

Neil Gaiman said, “When you write a beloved character (beloved with, or despite, or because of all his faults) like Mr. Wednesday, you get to watch the internet trying to cast the role. I’ve seen a hundred names suggested, but few make me grin like Ian McShane does. I’ve already been lucky enough to have him in one film (he was bright blue in it, animated, and probably Polish). Now I count myself even luckier: he’s made the journey from ‘Lovejoy’ to ‘American Gods.’ Yesterday was Super Tuesday. Today is Wonderful Wednesday.”

Commented Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, “Actor. Icon. And now god. It is a goddamn delight to be collaborating with the incomparable Ian McShane — again and for the first time — on a story about faith and belief, with the utmost faith and belief in Mr. McShane as our Mr. Wednesday. A wonderful Wednesday indeed.”

Playing Mr. Wednesday, McShane joins Ricky Whittle, who was recently announced to play Shadow Moon in “American Gods.” Mr. Wednesday is a crafty and endlessly charismatic con man, full of perverse wisdom, curious magic, and grand plans. He hires ex-con Shadow Moon to be his bodyguard as he journeys across America, using his charms to recruit others like him as he prepares for the ultimate battle for power.

Acclaimed British actor McShane catapulted to American TV stardom by playing the ruthless frontier kingpin Al Swearengen on “Deadwood,” for which he was nominated for both Emmy and SAG Awards and won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama and the Television Critics Award for Individual Performance. He also starred in Starz’ “The Pillars of the Earth,” for which he received a Golden Globe Nomination for Best Actor in a Mini Series. Across film, he is best known for his portrayal as ‘Blackbeard” in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and as “Teddy Bass” Sexy Beast. Other television appearances have included “Ray Donovan,” “American Horror Story,” ““The West Wing” and “Lovejoy.” This year he will appear in “Game of Thrones” and “Dr. Thorne” and can be seen in the upcoming films John Wick: Chapter 2, The Hollow Point and Bolden. McShane is also an accomplished and award-winning stage actor appearing in productions on Broadway, in the West End and Los Angeles throughout his career.

American Gods been translated into over 30 languages and earned numerous accolades including Hugo, Nebula and Bram Stoker Awards for Best Novel. The plot posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.

“American Gods” is produced by FremantleMedia North America. Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal,” “Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”) and Michael Green (“The River,” “Kings,” “Heroes”) are writers and showrunners. David Slade (“Hannibal,” “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”) is directing the pilot and additional episodes. FMNA’s Craig Cegielski and Stefanie Berk are executive producing the series along with Fuller, Green, Slade and Neil Gaiman. Senior Vice Presidents of Original Programming Marta Fernandez and Ken Segna are the Starz executives in charge of “American Gods.” Starz retains all network pay TV and SVOD rights to the project. FremantleMedia is distributing the series worldwide.

Ian McShane is represented by ICM Partners, Gallant Management, Independent Talent Group and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Trailer For Doctor Who David Tennant & Catherine Tate Audio Adventures

David Tennant and Catherine Tate return to Doctor Who in the form of new audio adventures.

Listen to the trailer above.

Official info, images and a video with Tennant and Tate talking about the series can be found below.

Info:

David Tennant is returning as the Tenth Doctor alongside Catherine Tate as his companion Donna Noble in three Doctor Who Audio Dramas!

David Tennant portrayed the Doctor on screen from 2005 until 1 January 2010, returning to play alongside Matt Smith and John Hurt in the 50th Anniversary special The Day of the Doctor in 2013. Catherine Tate made her debut as Donna in December 2006, and after a series and two festive specials she made her last appearance alongside David on 1 January 2010. Their on-screen partnership is generally regarded as one of the great high-points of the enduring science fiction phenomenon.

‘I still remember the sense of joy I had when I heard that David had been asked to play the Doctor,’ says Big Finish executive producer Jason Haigh-Ellery. ‘We were all so pleased for him — as we knew how much Doctor Who meant to him. And now David comes full circle, back doing Doctor Who with Big Finish — except that this time he’s playing the Doctor! It’s the same but different — it’s wonderful to have him back!’

The series opens with Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Technophobia by Matt Fitton, which is set in a London slightly in the future, where mankind is gradually losing its ability to use everyday technology. Could there be an evil force at work?

In Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Time Reaver by Jenny T Colgan the Doctor and Donna arrive on Calibris – ‘An entirely mechanical planet. Catch, hitch, fuel, fix, buy, pretty much any kind of transportation in existence.’ It’s also a world full of scoundrels, where a deadly black market has opened up in a device known only as the Time Reaver.

Finally, in Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Death and the Queen by James Goss, Donna is swept along in a fairytale romance and meets the man of her dreams in the beautiful land of Goritania. What can possibly go wrong? And why has the Doctor never heard of Goritania?

‘I’ve enjoyed working with all the Doctors on TV, but David is the only one I’d known before he became the Doctor,’ says executive producer Nicholas Briggs. ‘I’d worked with him on our Dalek Empire series for Big Finish and had such fun. So along with the excitement of directing new Tenth Doctor adventures, I’m so happy to be working with an old chum again.’

Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures is produced by David Richardson, script edited by Matt Fitton and James Goss and directed by Nicholas Briggs.

‘This is one of those dream projects where I’ve spent months pinching myself. I’m covered in bruises,’ says David. ‘With two major international stars in place, and the legacy of this era of the TV show to live up to, we’ve worked our socks off to try and make some very special stories for this box set. Expect adventure, fun, scares… and some tears too.’

Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures will be released in May 2016 – exclusively on the Big Finish website. Each of the three titles are available to pre-order separately today for just £10.99 on CD or £8.99 to download. A bundle of all three titles is also available for £25 on CD and £22 to download!

All three stories are also available in the Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 1 – Limited Edition set. Limited to just 5,000 copies and available exclusively from bigfinish.com, and the lavish book-sized box set includes exclusive artwork, photography, articles and a one-hour documentary featuring interviews with the stars and production team. You can pre-order the set today at the special price of £30 on CD or £25 to download – offering a £5 discount against the standard price!

New Robert Kirkman TV Series Announced With “Five Year”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24537:]]

Robert Kirkman, the creator behind The Walking Dead, is launching a new Korean-based TV series with Five Year, a pre-apocalyptic series, about a family living under the threat of a deadly meteor headed toward Earth.

The series will first debut on Korean TV and to the rest of the world on the digital global TV site Viki.

Find more details below.

Info:

Viki, the global TV site powered by fans, today announced that it is partnering with Skybound Entertainment to produce “Five Year,” a series based on an original story by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman. The pre-apocalyptic series, about a family living under the threat of a deadly meteor headed toward Earth, will be filmed as a Korean drama.

“This has been a story I have wanted to tell for quite some time, but David [Alpert] and I wanted to make sure it found a proper home where it could grow and breathe creatively. Looking at what Viki has done in not only the dramatic series space, but transforming the way viewers consume and translate media, we knew immediately ‘Five Year’ had found its home,” said Robert Kirkman, CEO and co-founder of Skybound Entertainment and creator of “Five Year.”

The series will debut its first 16-episode season on Korean broadcast television and worldwide on Viki. The series will take place over the course of five years with five seasons anticipated. Filming will begin later this year.

“As devoted fans of Korean cinema, television, and culture, we’re thrilled to be launching what we hope is the first of many collaborations with the Korean entertainment industry. “Five Year”, which tells the story of one family dealing with the impending apocalypse, is the perfect property to launch our partnership. It highlights the intense interpersonal moments that Korean dramas capture so well, and sets them against the epic backdrop for which Skybound has become known,” said president and co-founder of Skybound Entertainment David Alpert.

“In many ways, Viki and Skybound represent the future of global entertainment, particularly with Hollywood-Asia collaborations and VOD platforms like Viki leading distribution and fan-building,” said Tammy H. Nam, CEO of Viki. “We’re thrilled to be working with the creators and executive producers of one of the most popular TV series of all time. The fact that David and Robert wanted to make ‘Five Year’ as a K-drama is a testament to the massive global popularity and quality of Asian programming.”

“Five Year” is the second original series produced by Viki. “Dramaworld,” a 10-episode miniseries set in Los Angeles and Korea with a multinational cast and crew, will debut spring 2016 on Viki.com. “Dramaworld” is a co-production with China’s Jetavana Entertainment, EnterMedia Contents, and Third Culture Content.

Spike has ordered a production pilot from Dimension Television based on the classic Stephen King novella, “The Mist.” The Spike original scripted series tells a harrowing story about a seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town and creates immense havoc. This will be the first production pilot for a Spike scripted dramatic series since the network’s shift towards general entertainment.

Megan Spanjian, VP of Scripted TV, was instrumental in finding and bringing Torpe to the table and will oversee the project for Dimension TV along with Matthew Signer, EVP of Production and Creative Affairs, and Keith Levine, SVP of Production and Development. Torpe is repped by ICM.

Levy, Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series, and Lauren Ruggiero, Senior Director, Scripted Programming will oversee the project.

One possible Easter Egg that you might have missed is a reference to Green Lantern.

Oliver mentions a warehouse that stores all of Felicity’s old tech. The warehouse happens to be located on “Adams and O’Neill.”

As Den Of Geek points out, the Green Lantern and Green Arrow team-up comic was written and drawn by Denny O’Neill and Neal Adams.

Other Easter Eggs from the episode include the one-arm Green Arrow from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns and Slade Wilson’s son, who is Ravager in the comics.

Arrow’s Stephen Amell Wants To Appear On Supergirl

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24465:]]

With Grant Gustin appearing as The Flash in an upcoming episode of Supergirl, it makes sense to have the face of DC appear some time as well.

While speaking with IGN, Arrow‘s Stephen Amell mentions he wouldn’t mind appearing on Supergirl.

Sure! In this iteration of the DC Universe, the “Television Universe” as it were, I’m the guy that’s been around the longest, so I always feel — whether I’m on a show or I’m not on a show — I always feel as though I can in some way, shape or form represent them, and I always want them to be wildly successful and last for many more years than we end up lasting, because I just want to see people have success. So I would love to go over to Supergirl. That would be a blast, if for no other reason than I miss shooting in Los Angeles. [Laughs]

The Flash / Supergirl episode airs Monday, March 28th on CBS and is titled “Worlds Finest.”

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8pm ET on the CW.
