Joining Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, Frederick Schmidt will be being play Metallo.
EW.com describes Metallo in Supergirl Season 2 as: When international assassin John Corben is badly injured after taking on both Supergirl and Superman, he is reborn by a shadow organization into the Kryptonite-powered supervillain Metallo.
Frederick Schmidt will be featured as Metallo in the Supergirl Season 2 premiere. The actor is known for Starred Up, Snow In Paradise and Patient Zero.

Following up on the last batch of DCEU rumors, which interestingly enough did list Doug Liman as directing a DC movie (but not Justice League Dark), now the latest rumors also include DC TV shows.
Worth a mention is that the rumors state WB may be eyeing more serious takes on DC TV characters akin to Game of Thrones with shows on HBO. It’s also said some of the new rumored TV series might tie into the DC movie universe as well.
Other rumors mention Zack Snyder off Justice League 2; Man of Steel 2 definitely happening and without Snyder; George Miller eyed for a Jack Kirby property (New Gods was previously rumored); Suicide Squad 2 in the works; the Green Lantern Corps movie would be based on Geoff Johns’ Sinestro War (would be awesome!), and lots more.
Obviously take these with a grain of salt as a reddit user put together the following list from 4Chan:
Booster Gold is still in the works, treated more as a Deadpool February release film. No production date set.
Lobo is currently up in the air, being eyed as a potential TV series set in the DCEU movie universe.
Deathstroke no longer in the works. Ayer wanted to use him in Suicide Squad 2, will have an antagonist role.
Metal Men being eyed as a start for animated DC movies. If Lego Batman is successful, Warner plans to push forward development and Warner Animation Group will create the movie.

Sandman movie currently being developed. Giving it as much time as it needs to develop. Could very well be canceled. Joaquin Pheonix approached after Joseph Levitt left.
Sam Raimi being courted to direct a DCEU movie.
100 bullets still in development, although will not at all be marketed as a comic-related movie. Will have the Vertigo banner, but will be along the lines of Kingsman. Was envisioned as a “Sin City” type film, but is currently now a singular story. Will focus on one man’s story with the gun, and have appearances throughout by the Minutemen and the Trust.
The Question being developed for HBO as a smaller scale “gritty noir” show.
Suicide Squad 2 production begins soon, Ayer started writing the script in July, expected to shoot late-spring 2017. Will reportedly be dialed back from SS1, with less CGI, a more human threat, and no pop music at all. Slightly lower budget.
George Miller attracted to making a Jack Kirby property movie, working on Mad Max sequel in-between potential DCEU movie.
Man of Steel 2 is happening, Snyder not returning to direct.
Snyder no longer wants to return to direct JL 2, has opted out. Plans to direct a smaller scale movie for next project.
Shazam to be a one-off movie unless it does extremely well.
Cyborg currently up in the air. If he’s a breakout character in JL, he will get a movie, if not, it’ll be repurposed.
Legion of Superheroes canceled. Deemed “too early” to be developed.
Darkseid could potentially be saved for JL 3, having more background development in other movies for New Gods and Apokolips. New Gods property being heavily eyed as a film.
Green Lantern Corps will be an adaptation of Sinestro Corps War. Will have Guy Gardener, John Stewart, and Hal Jordan as the only human lanterns. Red Lanterns won’t appear but will be teased.
JSA was originally being worked on, expected to be teased in Wonder Woman with them being in WWI instead of WWII heroes. The idea was scrapped due to it not fitting the general plot of Wonder Woman. It was decided to relegate these characters to the CW shows.
Scalped being worked on by WGN network. Was held up with Doug Jung working on Star Trek movie. Jung expected to show run the series. Geoff Johns wrote the pilot.
WB wants to keep a 3-year release schedule with solo movies for A-listers . Wants to keep diversity in the lineup and keep filmgoers interested without being fatigued. On DC Animated movies, plans are to increase production to 4 movies per year. Doing “event” animated movies with a limited theater release ala Killing Joke will probably happen yearly.
Old scripts being revitalized as animated movies might still happen. Batman Beyond script by Boaz Yakin has been floating around.
It’s probably safe to assume that the new Tyler Hoechlin Superman for Supergirl Season 2 won’t be snapping anyone’s neck, killing anybody or even meeting his maker.
Zack Snyder can have that for the DCEU.
Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreiseberg fills in Collider what to expect from Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman. It’s learned they are going with a more classic route with the Man of Steel as their version is inspired by Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain and George Reeves and is more experienced than the Henry Cavill Big Blue.
I think our take on him is probably something a little bit more traditional. There’s certainly a little bit of the “Aw shucks” about him, but he’s been Superman for awhile, so there’s a savviness about him as Superman and as Clark. If he’s been Superman for 12 years, that also means that he’s been Clark Kent for 12 years. He knows how to interview somebody. He knows how to get a story out of someone.
As always, with any of these things, we’re never doing a direct adaptation of a specific comic book. We cherry pick the best parts and things that we love. So, there’s a little bit of the Christopher Reeve Superman in there, a healthy dose of the Superman animated series, which we’re huge fans of, a little bit of Lois & Clark, a little George Reeves, and a little Super Friends.
And as far as finding the right guy, as soon as we said we were going to do Superman, Greg [Berlanti] mentioned Tyler [Hoechlin]. We’ve been fans of his for years, and when we sat down with him, he is Superman. Not just with the looks, but he’s such a good guy, such a nice guy, and he’s so open and forthright and brimming with life. You just feel better when you’re around him, which I think is part of the secret of Superman. He is that ideal, but not in an unattainable way. Superman should make you feel like you can do anything, even though he’s the one that can do anything. And Tyler just had all that in spades. So, it was less a question of us reaching out. It was more a question of hoping he would say yes. After Tyler, I’m not sure what we would have done.
Regarding what happens between Supergirl and her cousin, Superman, Kreisberg offers:
That’s a lot of what’s happening in those first episodes. Kara is caught a little bit in the middle between Clark, who’s her family, and Alex, J’onn, Winn and James, which is this amazing family that she’s made for herself. There’s definitely conflict that arises that puts Kara squarely in the middle, which we’re excited about.

Check out two pieces of concept art from a cancelled animated Superman series that was going to be developed by Genndy Tartakovsky.
Tartakovsky is a veteran animator known for a plethora of work including Hotel Transylvania, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Powerpuff Girls, Batman: The Animated Series and lots more.
The art is done by Scott Wills also known for Star Wars: Clone Wars, Samurai Jack and Monsters vs. Aliens.
“Genndy Tartakovsky, Justin Thompson and I were very excited to do our take on an animated Superman but unfortunately it was pulled from us just as we were starting,” Wills posted on his blog.
The Superman animated series was going to be a part of DC Nation, which also included Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated series. DC Nation lasted frm 2012-2014 but was axed by Cartoon Network.
Superman next surfaces in animated form as part of Cartoon Network’s Justice League Action series.

We get a first look at Henry Cavill in Justice League as set pics have surfaced on Instagram.
The Justice League set images reveal Henry Cavill back in the red and blue costume. Cavill recently teased the Superman black costume for Justice League, which is thought to be similar to the “return of Superman” comic book version.
Henry Cavill can also be seen in the Justice League set images sporting the classic Superman curl, with green screens in the background which is used for CGI.
The Instagram user notes, “Superman gives the best hugs!”
Henry Cavill is currently filming Justice League in the UK.
Last we saw of Henry Cavill and Superman, the last son of Krypton had fallen in battle while defending humanity against Doomsday in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Superman sacrificed himself to stop the Kryptonian hybrid creature with the help of fellow Justice League members Batman and Wonder Woman. Superman was buried in Smallville; however, as we all know — you can’t keep a good Man of Steel down.

A new batch of DC movie rumors has hit the net.
They come from 4 Chan so obviously take this with a grain of salt, but at least they’re rather fun.
We see J.J. Abrams is listed as a contender to do the second Superman Man of Steel 2 film. Abrams did write the Superman: Flyby script around 2002, plus he has had success reinventing the Star Trek and Star Wars‘ franchises. Maybe Superman needs a reinvention as well?
Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is said to be up for Dwayne Johnson’s Shazam, which isn’t a bad choice at all. It’s possible Sam Raimi may want another crack at a superhero franchise following the disappointing Spider-Man 3, and also there is the fact that his Spider-Man 4 never got made.
George Miller, who was said to be directing Man of Steel 2, is listed as directing a New Gods movie. Miller is also rumored to be a producer on Justice League.
Gravity‘s Alfonso Cuaron is said to be in talks for the Green Lantern Corps movie. Cuaron also directed Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
It’s said Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins may be directing Justice League 2, which would mean Zack Snyder wouldn’t be returning for the sequel.
The rumors also include a list of release dates for upcoming DC movies. Worth a mention is that a Cyborg movie is missing. It seems a majority of the rumors coming out of 4Chan seem to insinuate a Cyborg movie might be off the table; however, earlier yesterday saw the news that Cyborg is being included in Justice League and The Flash to increase interest in the character and the planned 2020 Cyborg movie.
The release dates list below also has Ben Affleck’s solo The Batman movie hitting in 2019, which may hold some merit as Affleck and Geoff Johns may be taking their time to get the script right.

Looks like the black Superman costume is a sure thing for the Justice League movie.
Henry Cavill took to instagram to show off an up close look tagging the picture with “#Superman.”
In the comics, following the “Death Of Superman” DC Comics storyine, the Man of Steel returned with a black costume.
I wonder how they will explain the black costume in the Justice League movie? In the comics, Superman was brought back to life through Kryptonian technology, with the indirect help of the Eradicator. Maybe something similar?
Interestingly enough, Man of Steel gave us a glimpse of the black Superman costume in that Superman and Zod nightmare scene. Check out concept art below for that.

It’s reported Man of Steel 2 starring Henry Cavill is in active development.
Despite not hearing much about a sequel to the 2013 Superman Man of Steel movie, The Wrap reports sources close to WB filled them in that “Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.”
The article mentions no release date or director involved with Man of Steel 2, but WB does have two untitled DC films to be released on October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019. The report also mentions the solo Ben Affeck The Batman movie will most likely be released prior to Man of Steel 2 as well.
It was said George Miller was involved with Man of Steel 2 at one point, but Miller said while he was involved in talks with DC, regarding Man of Steel 2 it probably wasn’t true.
Back a few months ago saw Henry Cavill make it known he would do Man of Steel 2 as well:
“I do believe it depends on the success of [Batman vs. Superman],” Cavill offered. “If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. for a standalone Superman movie. But they’ve got their plans set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies, so it’s about finding the time, really. It’s something that I would be very keen to do.”
Zack Snyder also offered that “part of the reason we didn’t announce a standalone superhero movie this time was to support some of the events of [Batman vs Superman].”

Originally, it was going to be a straight Superman movie. One of the ideas was that at the end of the movie, a crate of kryptonite would be delivered to Wayne Manor. That didn’t happen, but once Batman was mentioned, he wouldn’t go away. It couldn’t be undone.

With yesterday’s set images revealing Luthor Corp, it’s now learned Supergirl Season 2 will feature Lena Luthor.
TV Line reports Katie McGrath (Dracula, Merlin, Jurassic World) will play the sister to Lex Luthor (who hasn’t been cast for Supergirl), with the character described as:
“Beautiful, powerful, and enigmatic, Lena arrives in National City on the heels of brother Lex’s incarceration hoping for a fresh start. Lena has taken over as CEO of her family’s billion-dollar-tech company, Luthor Corp, which has been tarnished by Lex’s evil infamy. Her goal? To re-brand the empire as a force for good. Set video shows off Superman duking it out with a villain that has a green orb in his chest, though for some reason Superman doesn’t seem too fazed if it is kryptonite.

With Tyler Hoechlin joining Supergirl Season 2 as Superman, now it’s revealed that not only will Metropolis be featured in the series, but possibly Lex Luthor as well.
Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers is located in National City and apparently will visit her cousin Kal-El in his hometown.
New set images on Twitter out of Vancouver reveal Metropolis PD and emergency response vehicles as well as a Luthor Corp logo and banners.
Lex Luthor has not yet been cast for Supergirl, and I’m also beginning to wonder if they could be getting a new Superman spinoff TV series eventually.

If everything was on the table? I love Superman, I think Superman would be amazing. There’s so many; it’s such an insanely rich universe, there’s so much depth to it. You could literally open up the encyclopedia of characters and stab your finger at a page and you’d have an amazing character.
And his thoughts on Batman vs. Superman:
I liked it a lot. I love Zack; he is probably the biggest fan of DC Comics. He has an incredible passion in a very specific way, a specific take on it. He’s a smart guy, and I think he heard everybody, he heard them loud and clear, and you grow and you evolve. I thought it was a stunning movie, absolutely stunning. I wish I could get some of those shots in the can. The guy’s an amazing visualist.

Synopsis:
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Supervillains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. Check out the latest set images out of Vancouver for new Superman Tyler Hoechlin in Supergirl Season 2.
Though Tyler Hoechlin has been catching some flak online for seemingly being a “skinny” version of Superman (I’ve never thought of Superman jacked myself), we see the the producers are taking a page out of the source material.
Check out Supergirl set images revealing Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent unbuttoning his shirt to change into the Man of Steel (something that hasn’t happened on the big screen with Henry Cavill).
According to the Canadagraphs Twitter account, these images are from the first episode of Supergirl Season 2.
It will also be interesting to see if they give Superman theme music on Supergirl.
The CW also starts re-aring Supergirl Season 1 today with double episodes.

Following the first official image, now set photos and video reveal Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and Clark Kent for Supergirl Season 2.
Tyler Hoechlin joins Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers in the series.
Supergirl Season 2 airs on The CW in October.

Superman Henry Cavill recently posted two videos on his Facebook page from Comic-Con.
The first video apparently shows Henry Cavill getting his picture taken for CG-work in Justice League (or a promo), which borrows a song from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, perhaps signifying it’s cosmic-related.
“Heading home now…Thank you Comic Con. #JusticeLeague #SDCC2016 #BeamMeUp,” Cavill posted.
The second video sees Henry Cavill donning a V For Vendetta mask hitting the Comic-Con floor and surprising an unexpected Will Smith and the cast of Suicide Squad.

The image shows Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel paired with his cousin, Kara Danvers, played by Melissa Benoist.
I know as of this past weekend’s Comic-Con that Tyler Hoechlin hadn’t tried on the Superman costume for Supergirl, so this may be more or less a promo shot. I guess it’s possible Hoechlin may have tested the Superman costume within the past few days and hence the picture.
Hoechlin also teased the Superman curl at the SDCC Supergirl panel for the crowd, which we don’t see in this pic as well.
Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman costume looks similar to the design of Supergirl’s, and we see that, similar to the Henry Cavill costume, it’s missing the classic red trunks.
Supergirl Season 2 airs starting in October on The CW.

Some of the Easter Eggs included is that Barry Allen apparently was inspired by Superman as we see the Man of Steel chest symbol on Barry’s Flash board; a glimpse of the Mother Box apparently from the past (scene may feature Atlanteans); Cyborg/Victor Stone attends Gotham City University (not high school); Batman might have a darker costume, and more.

In addition to the reveal of the Suicide Squad toys, Mattel has shown off a batch of new images for upcoming toys which includes Daredevil, Punisher, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, TMNT, Star Trek, Ghosbusters, Thundercats, Monster High and She-Ra.

In addition to Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman, WB is bringing Batman vs. Superman to Comic-Con.
Video and images have surfaced on social networks of the Superman statue being put up, apparently “rebuilt” following the battle between Superman and Doomsday!
WB is holding a Batman Vs. Superman Fan Experience at the Omni MLK Promenade (Southeast of Gaslamp Square Park, behind the Omni Hotel) where fans can visit Heroes Park and see the Batmobile along with exclusive giveaways and a daily scavenger hunt.
