Russell Crowe Confirms Plans For Multiple Superman Movies Were Scrapped

At one time, Zack Snyder and David Goyer planned on having a Man of Steel sequel prior to Batman Vs. Superman.

That all went down the tubes when Man of Steel didn’t hit a billion dollars (sound familiar?).

Now Russell Crowe is asked about why he didn’t appear in Batman Vs. Superman while chatting with Digital Spy in which he offers multiple Superman movies were at least being thought about at one time.

“No,” Crowe responded when asked if there was any talk about him returning for Batman v Superman. “I think once they made the decision that… Because originally, I could be completely wrong, I think there was a number of Superman movies, but I think they made the decision to go to… jump past those and go to the idea of having Batman and Superman in the same film. So no, I didn’t have any discussions about that at all.”

Crowe also says he hasn’t seen Batman Vs. Superman.

At one point Russell Crowe stated he was interested in doing a Superman prequel Krypton movie as well. Now it seems Goyer has taken that idea to SyFy with the Krypton series.

To date, WB has yet to announce a new Superman movie, though they did just kill the character and butcher just about everything related to his mythology.

It’s also been said that in addition to new solo Superman movies, new solo Batman movies would have been released prior to Justice League. Guess we now know which was the right way to go.

SyFy Greenlights Superman Prequel Krypton Series

SYFY GREENLIGHTS SUPERMAN PREQUEL KRYPTON TO PILOT

— Origin Story Based on the DC Comics Characters Is From Executive Producer David S. Goyer and Warner Horizon Television –

Syfy today announced it has greenlit to pilot KRYPTON, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. KRYPTON will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

KRYPTON will be executive produced by David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Dark Knight” trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner. Damian Kindler (“Sleepy Hollow”) will serve as executive producer/showrunner; Colm McCarthy (“She Who Brings Gifts,” “Peaky Blinders”) is set to direct and co-executive produce the pilot. The pilot teleplay and story is written by David S. Goyer & Ian Goldberg (“Once Upon a Time,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”). KRYPTON will be produced by Warner Horizon Television and is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC Comics.

“KRYPTON is one of the most iconic stories in the comic book universe,” said Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “In the talented hands of David S. Goyer and the DC Entertainment/Warner Horizon Television team, this exciting Syfy project will take viewers back to Superman’s home to show how the timeless legend began.”

KRYPTON comes on the heels of the pilot greenlight for PROTOTYPE, written by Tony Basgallop (“24: Live Another Day”) and currently in production. Additional high-profile scripted projects in development at Syfy include an adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s classic novel BRAVE NEW WORLD from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, and HYPERION, with executive producers Bradley Cooper, Graham King and Todd Phillips.

In 2016, Syfy’s powerhouse lineup includes HUNTERS, from “The Walking Dead” executive producer Gale Anne Hurd; the second season of the thriller series 12 MONKEYS; INCORPORATED, from Matt Damon, Ben Affleck & Jennifer Todd’s Pearl Street Films; the Halloween anthology series CHANNEL ZERO: CANDLE COVE; and critically-acclaimed first seasons of THE EXPANSE and THE MAGICIANS (both set for second seasons in 2017).

Henry Cavill Says Thank You For Superman & Justice League Support

Henry Cavill has taken to his official Facebook page to thank fans for all their support. Cavill posted the above image of himself lifting weights.

“You helped raise the bar on Superman training today!” The Man of Steel actor posted. “I did 1 million reps in honour of you guys…just kidding, it wasn’t anywhere near that many but I did want to say thank you for the continuous support you have shown for the things that are dear to my heart!”

Cavill also tagged the post with: “#ThankYou #SupermanTraining #Superman #JusticeLeague.”

Following Man of Steel and Batman Vs. Superman, Henry Cavill returns for Justice League, which is currently filming in the UK.

Both Cavill and Justice League co-star Aquaman Jason Momoa have been hitting the weights pretty hard as of late. It’s thought we’ll see a duel between the Last Son Of Krypton and the King of the Seven Seas at some point in the film.

“Justice League” has a November 17, 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Wilem Dafoe in an unknown role.

Kent Farm House Returning For Justice League

It’s learned the Kent Farm House looks to be returning in some form for the Justice League movie.

The Superman Home Page reports locals have seen movement in the area where the Kent Farm is located in Yorkville, Illinois.

It’s said security is patrolling the area and boards have been taken down from windows.

More than likely crews are preparing the Kent Farm House for filming Justice League at a later day. The farm house was specially created for Man of Steel, and then used again in Batman Vs. Superman.

With the Kent Farm House returning, it’s probably a safe bet Superman’s mom, played by Diane Lane, will be back for Justice League as well.

Perhaps something at the house plays into how Superman comes back to life?

Zack Snyder recently joked in an interview that Kryptonians decay slower or differently than humans. Well, Zod didn’t come back from a broken neck, but Superman is going to be able to return from getting a big whole punched through his heart? Should be interesting to see what happens. Any theories?

“Justice League” has a November 17, 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. SyFy & David Goyer’s Krypton Series Is Almost A Go

While not much has been heard as of late in regards to the David S. Goyer Krypton series other than mention it’s in development, now it’s reported the series is closer than ever to getting green lit at SyFy.

Variety reports SyFy is nearing completion of a deal on the pilot order for the Krypton series, which will be written by Goyer and Ian Goldberg.

The Krypton series is described as: “set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s titular home planet, would tell the story of the Man of Steel’s grandfather as he fights to restore the family honor of the House of El after it has been shamed.”

It’s unclear if Kryprton will be set within any of the DC TV universes, but Goyer previously hinted a connection.

Goyer is also on board Krypton as executive producer. Colm McCarthy will direct the pilot. Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hallow, Sanctuary, Stargate) will serve as showrunner.

Henry Cavill Says Superman Is Better Than Captain America

The DC vs. Marvel Flame Wars have officially begun.

Following comments made by Chris Evans that no one can copy a Marvel movie, now Henry Cavill fires back on Facebook by stating Superman is better than Captain America, and uses an image of Scarlett Johansson to get his point across.

Cavill posted an image of himself as Clark Kent with a microphone holding it up to an advertisement with Johansson’s image.

“Reporting in from the Huawei P9 launch event in Shanghai and according to my sources Superman is indeed better than Captain America,” Cavill added, along with tagging the post with: “#P9 #Huawei #Shanghai #ScarlettJohansson Chris Evans #girlscoutcookies.”

Regarding Evans’ comments, he recently said about Marvel: “They’ve got a monopoly on it, they’re doing it and no one else can try and copy it.”

The battle between Captain America and Superman will officially come to a head when Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th. Batman Vs. Superman saw a huge opening weekend with $166 million. Will Cap be able to top that?

Henry Cavill has also started filming on Justice League, which opens November 17, 2017.

While Cosmic Book News is siding with Team Cap for Civil War, we might have to go with Team Superman when it comes to the battle of the boy scouts.

Batman Vs. Superman To Be Less Profitable Than Man Of Steel

I just reported how Batman Vs. Superman is currently peforming 40% less than Man of Steel at the box office, and now it’s being said the Dawn of Justice will be less profitable for Warner Bros. as well.

Bloomberg reports Batman Vs. Superman will bring in a profit of $278 million to Man of Steel‘s $300 million, according to industry analyst Wade Holden.

Though there have been a slew of rumors suggesting Warner Bros. may make adjustements to their Justice League universe, the article notes WB is still pretty happy, otherwise they wouldn’t have announced release dates for two new DC Movies, with one thought to be Batman.

It’s also said Batman Vs. Superman will not reach a billion, and for BvS to be as profitable as the lower budget Man of Steel, it would have needed Avengers numbers: a gross of $1.15 billion worldwide.

“They have to be pretty satisfied; they probably aren’t elated,” said Matthew Harrigan, an analyst at Wunderlich Securities, who also thinks profits on Batman Vs. Superman will be lower than the estimated $278 million mentioned above.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is currently in theaters. “Justice League” starts filming April 11th.

Batman Vs. Superman Performing 40% Less Than Man of Steel At Box Office

For those keeping track, the last four days have seen Batman Vs. Superman perform less than Man of Steel at the box office in the U.S.

Batman vs. Superman is actually now performing 40% less than Man of Steel following both movies’ second weekend release.

Batman Vs. Superman has totaled $12,842,495 from this past Monday to Thursday.

Back in 2013, Man of Steel netted $18,847,309 on the same four days.

The difference is $6,004,814.

It’s currently a toss up whether or not Batman Vs. Superman will remain #1 for the third weekend in a row as it faces competition from Melissa McCarthy’s The Boss, which is currently doing pretty well.

Man of Steel for its third weekend netted around $20.7 million. If Batman vs. Superman continues the current trend, it will do considerably less for its own third weekend.

Currently, Batman vs. Superman has a $723,550,542 worldwide total: $273,250,542 in the U.S., with $450,300,000 internationally.

Man of Steel finished at $668,045,518 worldwide: $291,045,518 in the U.S, $377,000,000 in foreign markets.

Zack Snyder Reveals New Batman Vs. Superman Deleted Scene

Zack Snyder reveals a new deleted scene for Batman Vs. Superman, which I guess sort of explains why the Man of Steel didn’t find his mother when Lex Luthor kidnapped her.

Honestly, it’s a pretty weak argument from Snyder as we already know Superman could find Lois Lane half way around the world when she was held hostage by terrorists in Africa.

Here’s what Snyder revealed to IGN:

“I think all the way – to me, from Metropolis to Smallville is probably just on the edge of his range of hearing” he explained. “Also the clutter of the city makes it difficult as well.”

“We had a scene that we cut from the movie where he tries to look for her when he finds out that Lex has got her,” Snyder continued. “It was a slightly dark scene that we cut out because it sort of represented this dark side. Because when he was looking for his mom he heard all the cries of all the potential crimes going on in the city, you know when you look.

“I kind of like the idea that he’s taught himself not to look because if he looks it’s just neverending, right? You have to know when, as Superman, when to intervene and when not to. Or not when not to, you can’t be everywhere at once, literally you can’t be everywhere at once, so he has to be really selective in a weird way about where he chooses to interfere.”

As noted, it’s unknown if the deleted scene will make its way in to the Batman Vs. Superman director’s cut.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is directed by Zack Snyder starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves.

Zack Snyder Rumored To Lose Justice League Control; Adjustments Made Following Batman Vs. Superman

With Batman vs. Superman getting such mixed reviews, and it now looking likely the movie won’t reach that magic billion dollar mark, the rumors are starting to fly.

The first rumor actually came out prior to the release of Batman Vs. Superman, which stated execs at WB were worried about the film and future of the Justice League universe. Looking back at it now, the rumor may hold merit, and now it’s also suggested Zack Snyder may no longer be in charge of Justice League (see below).

The second rumor – which turned out to be true – is that WB decided to do Suicide Squad reshoots. Now whether it’s to add in more humor like the rumor stated or more action like Jai Courtney offered is unclear, but reshoots are happening nonetheless.

The latest batch of rumors courtesy THR:

A new producer could be brought on to WB DC’s universe to take control over from Zack Snyder:  “…maybe add a new producer? — rather than allow BvS director Zack Snyder to proceed with the two-part Justice League.” However, the article notes: “But sources with firsthand knowledge of the situation say the studio has no such plans.”

(my thoughts: What’s up with Geoff Johns? Certainly he has to realize the movies aren’t in line with the comics, especially what they did with Superman in the last two movies. The bad news: Johns was on “Green Lantern.” The obvious problem could be is that Geoff Johns’ opinions hold no weight. Is anybody listening to Johns at WB?)

It’s rumored Batman Vs. Superman may make little profit:  “…competitors say the film may turn a profit but hardly will be the money gusher studios hope for when they pour massive resources into making a giant tentpole with a big star — with a budget in this case said to be in excess of $300 million, and Ben Affleck.”

DC movies are not like Marvel movies: “The biggest problem is that it is not turning [DC] into Marvel,” a rival studios head is quoted as stating. “The audience has communicated, as have the critics.”

Something is wrong with Batman v Superman:  The movie should be hitting a billion because Batman and Superman are two of the most iconic characters, and Jurassic World did hit a billion:  “…you can’t tell me Batman v. Superman is so much less valuable…” an agent argued.

• WB execs are clueless: “Warner Bros. executives were convinced they had the goods with BvS and were shocked when negative reviews began pouring in.”

(my thoughts: herein may lie the problem: The WB execs are obviously clueless about comic book movies and properties. Did they see the same movie as we did? Why not create a DC writer’s/consultant group consisting of Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, etc.? Use assets from DC properties that are already successful — animated and video game universes.)

• WB is said to dismiss the rumors: but will “naturally evaluate what went wrong with BvS.”

Regarding Justice League, WB says: “…we’re not going to take a movie that’s supposed to be one thing and turn it into a copycat of something else.”

“Instability” at WB: is a result of the ouster of Alan Horn (who is seeing huge success at Disney) and Jeff Robinov (who was in charge for the Nolan movies, Harry Potter, etc).

Superman Man Of Steel 2 Not On The Table; But Possible (Video)

I just went over possible details for Man of Steel 2 yesterday that included Zack Snyder revealing a possible ending, and now we hear from Snyder, Henry Cavill and Batman producer Charles Roven on the potential for another Superman movie.

The bad news is that no new Superman movie is on the table, but both Zack Snyder,  Henry Cavill and Charles Roven offer it’s a possibility down the road.

I’ll say after what Snyder did with Superman in Batman Vs. Superman, I hope WB brings someone else on board who understands and is a fan of the character. Snyder is 0-for-2 in my book.

You can watch the video below as well (via IGN).

Snyder: I think if we can get a good script, it would be great to get a standalone Superman movie. I think that would be fun to do.

Cavill: I do believe it depends on the success of this movie.  If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. for a standalone Superman movie.  But they’ve got their plans set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies, so it’s about finding the time, really.  It’s something that I would be very keen to do.

Roven: We’re in the process of looking at that, but we don’t have it on the schedule at the moment because we’re quite busy with the movies that we have scheduled.

Sndyer: Part of the reason we didn’t announce a standalone superhero movie this time was to support some of the events of [Batman vs Superman].

zack-snyder-reveals-man-steel-2-ending
Movie News

Zack Snyder Reveals Man Of Steel 2 Ending

Following the initial release of Man of Steel, there was talk of doing another Superman movie, which didn’t include Batman.

Obviously, that didn’t happen, but now a new detail is learned about Man of Steel 2 that references the Dark Knight.

In the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Art of the Film book, Zack Snyder reveals an ending discussed for Man of Steel 2.

“Originally, it was going to be a straight Superman movie,” Snyder explained. “One of the ideas was that at the end of the movie, a crate of kryptonite would be delivered to Wayne Manor. That didn’t happen, but once Batman was mentioned, he wouldn’t go away. It couldn’t be undone.”

Other details we know about the what-could-have-been Man of Steel 2 movie is that it featured an older Lex Luthor. Zack Snyder recently revealed they spoke with Bryan Cranston for the role, and Snyder told Total Film magazine a while back they had to tweak the Batman Vs. Superman script to accommodate using a younger 32-year-old Jesse Eisenberg.

“We talked about the usual suspects that you would imagine; any actor who has been bald, probably,” Snyder previously told Entertainment Weekly. “Bryan Cranston would have been great, right? And by the way, he’s an amazing actor. Can you imagine how different the movie would be?”

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice art book also reveals that Chris Terrio wrote (or rewrote from David Goyer’s script) scenes involving Laurence Fishburne’s Perry White, another Superman character.

“Chris Terrio has done such a great job of continuing what we’ve established with Perry White, but just turning him up a notch,” co-producer Curt Kaneomoto offered. “It’s really, really fun to see how he takes these gentle and not so gentle stabs at Clark in the film.”

The book even mentions the neon LexCorp sign seen in Batman Vs. Superman belonged to Lex’s father, and that Lex featured the sign in the lobby as a trophy over his victory of taking the company from his father, among their troubled relationship.

“Zack wanted Patrick [Tatopoulos] to come up with this gigantic old neon sign that maybe belonged to Lex’s father,” Batman Vs. Superman art director Gregory S. Hooper said. “It was on a rooftop. So, our graphic artist designed an enormous sign. I went down to Cleveland and had that built and installed, and it looked amazing.”

Details are also mentioned that under Lex Sr., LexCorp was more focused on Wall Street or The Big Three automakers. When Lex Jr. came on board, Lex Corp was then modeled on Silicon Valley.

The various details for Man of Steel 2 that we can put together are rather interesting as:

Obviously Man of Steel 2 would have solely focused on Henry Cavill’s Superman/Clark Kent.

• Would not have featured Batman (or any other Justice League characters most likely).

• Would have featured an older Lex Luthor.

• Would have featured Kryptonite.

• The ending would have seen a crate of kryptonite delivered to Wayne Manor, which we can speculate:

• Batman would have obviously taken notice of whatever happened in the movie and had the crate delivered to himself.

Or

• Lex Luthor Sr. delivered the kryptonite crate to Bruce Wayne (which is similar to what happened in Batman Vs. Superman), and this also would have revealed Lex Sr. knew about Bruce being Batman (and possibly other metahumans, again similar to BvS).

There were also rumors following Man of Steel that WB was going to do a solo Batman movie (possibly with a younger Bruce Wayne). It’s possible we could have had Man of Steel 2, a new solo Batman movie, possibly Batman vs. Superman or Batman AND Superman, then Justice League.

Or, for that matter, following Man of Steel 2 and a standalone Batman movie, right to Justice League.

Going the Man of Steel 2 route seems as if the Justice League universe may have been built up more slowly (compared to the Batman Vs. Superman cameos), and that Superman would have been the lead.

Dean Cain Reviews Batman Vs. Superman

Who better to ask about Batman Vs. Superman than the Man of Steel himself, Dean Cain?

Dean Cain (go Bills!) starred as Superman on ABC’s Lois & Clark: The Adventures Of Superman back in 1993 for four seasons.

THR caught up with Dean Cain to get his thoughts on the Dawn of Justice. Overall, it seemed like Dean Cain enjoyed the movie, but he did note his son hated it. Some excerpts:

Yes, my son and I went to see it. My son hated it because Superman died. It made me very happy that he took it so personally and that he has such a strong connection to the character (laughs). The movie obviously was so well made; the effects were incredible. It was too long, though, and I admit, I dozed off a tiny bit, but maybe that’s because I was tired after a lot of traveling. Ben was great as Batman and Henry is a very good Superman. This incarnation is so dark compared to the lightness of the Superman I’ve grown to know and love, as seen in the two versions that I grew up with — Christopher Reeve and myself. That’s the only difference to me. [This movie] inhabits a dark world and Superman is such an alien in that world. Wonder Woman is really easy on the eyes, and I love that they introduced the other guys, the Justice League, because those stories are very cool. I loved how they did that. But I don’t see how you have a Justice League without Superman.

The suit looks fantastic; the suit is amazing! I would call him lucky to get that suit instead of the Lycra that I had. Henry is a big, physical guy, and he looks “super,” if you will (laughs). I’ve met him before and he has that Superman special something. This is a different incarnation, as I’ve mentioned. My favorite of all time will always be Christopher Reeve. He’ll always be Superman in my eyes.

It’s odd for me to watch that because of that incredible strength that he possesses. Whenever I played him, I played Superman as if I had a secret that nobody else knew. That secret is that you could always win. It seemed that Superman didn’t have that in this film. That was different for me. I don’t like seeing him get kicked around so hard. But what I did like a lot is that Superman was so heroic in this film and sacrificed himself before anything or anyone else. That is definitely in tune with the Superman that I know and love.

Dean Cain also happens to play Kara’s father in CBS’s Supergirl.

Kevin Smith Wasn’t A Big Fan of Batman Vs. Superman

Kevin Smith, who was actually involved in promoting Batman Vs. Superman, apparently wasn’t a big fan of the movie, particularly in regards to the story and Superman.

Smith, who will be directing an upcoming episode of The Flash, goes on to say on his podcast (via Geek Tyrant) that while the visuals of the film looked good, Superman was off (which we agree with).

“Remember before when we were talking about Flash, and that it has heart, humor, and spectacle. The movie I felt like didn’t really have a heart. It was certainly fucking humorless, there was nothing funny going on in that world whatsoever, but it had lots of spectacle. Like you can’t take that away from Snyder. Boy, he knows how to like compose a frame and how to setup a shot. Beautiful visual stylist but you need more than just the pictures, you need like characterization and these characters seemed off character, particularly Superman.”

Smith is also a big Batman fan and went on to joke about Affleck’s portrayal comparing Bruce Wayne and Batman to Donald Trump. You can listen to the podcast below.

Garman: He just wasn’t that bright.

Smith: Certainly not the world’s greatest detective! More like Bat-Trump.

Garman: He was Bat-Trump. A rich guy with a bad attitude. Who really hated immigrants.

Smith: He hates immigrants in a big bad way!

Garman: I’m gonna build a wall around Krypton, and I’m gonna make them pay for it. I’m going to build a wall around the Hall of Justice, it’s what I do. I build walls and they’re huge.”

Christopher Nolan Was Against Batman Vs. Superman Spoiler Ending

Not only did Christopher Nolan argue against the controversial ending to Man of Steel, but Nolan also argued against the Batman Vs. Superman ending.

Warning: Major Batman Vs. Superman SPOILERS follow

The end of Batman Vs. Superman saw Superman kill Doomsday, but DD also killed Superman (more on that here, with Zack Snyder commenting on the return of Superman in Justice League).

The Collider caught up with Zack Snyder and asked when and where did that decision come about, and what did WB think about the decision to kill Superman.

It was pretty early, and [Christopher] Nolan and I had long conversation about it, a really great, sort of philosophical conversation about it. He was really cool because he played an amazing devil’s advocate about why not to do it, and then in the end was like, ‘No you’re right, it’s better to do it.’”

Zack Snyder continues with mention of an alternate ending to Batman Vs. Superman that didn't see Superman die, but yet Snyder didn't specifically explain what it was, instead giving a different example (which resembles Captain America and Hulk).

We had a version that we talked about where [Superman] just—this isn’t it, but where he got frozen and shot into space or something, so he’s kinda gone. Because one of the big things I wanted to make sure of was that as we went into Justice League, Bruce Wayne was the one who was gathering the Justice League. I thought it was really important to have Bruce Wayne be the samurai who goes and finds the other samurai, that to me was important. And with Superman around it’s kinda hard, because Superman’s Superman so it’s kinda hard for Bruce to be like, ‘Yeah I wanna put a Justice League together’. It’s like, ‘Okay, but maybe Superman should be doing that. You’re just a guy. You’re a cool guy, don’t get me wrong, but you’re just a guy.’

Snyder also says another reason he wanted Superman to die was so it would be more relatable to humanity.

“I thought for the evolution of Superman’s character, there’s a crucible that he has to go through to really embrace his humanity or find what is the ultimate thing about being human? The ultimate thing you face is your mortality, and that’s a thing that I think is really cool about this.”

Regarding Warner Bros. reaction to the death of Superman:

“The studio was like, ‘What?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah but, how about I called the movie Dawn of Justice?’, and they’re like ‘Okay, okay, I like what you’re doing, I see what you’re doing.’”

Snyder then talks about bringing Superman back:

“I’m gonna say this: the second you do the first part of it, the death and resurrection are the same thing in a weird way. You have to know. The reason I wanted to do it the way we did it is because I don’t want the audience completely off the hook with it. They still have to go like, ‘What the fuck? Are you kidding me?’. There’s a way to signal towards a more definitive resurrection concept, but I didn’t wanna do that because I want that to be real for them when they see it, I want the experience to be real and then the sort of need to be real later on. Suffice it to say there is a plan, but that’s gonna be—you need to wait and see.”

Zack Snyder Explains Batman Vs. Superman SPOILER Ending & Justice League

MAJOR SPOILERS follow for Batman vs. Superman. We’ll start the article – with spoilers – following this image.

The end of Batman vs. Superman saw Superman sacrifice himself while taking on Doomsday, who could basically not be beaten as any time he was attacked, he would evolve to overcome the offensive. As Wonder Woman attacked Doomsday with her sword and cut off DD’s arm, DD grew a spike in its place. Superman grabbed the Kryptonite spear that Batman had created and plunged it into Doomsday’s chest. Doomsday had a hold of Superman, and likewise, plunged his spike-arm into Superman’s heart (obviously they couldn’t snap each other’s necks like the comic because Superman just did that to Zod in Man of Steel). So both Doomsday and Superman were killed. Following that, we see a funeral scene with Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince. Bruce says they need to form a team because a threat is coming etc. We see Lois and Ma Kent by Clark’s grave etc. Then dirt rises over Clark’s coffin, which is similar to what happened in Man of Steel when Clark first took flight.

EW.com caught up with director Zack Snyder who explained his reasoning behind killing Superman, with the obvious question in most fans’ minds being: What about Superman in Justice League?

SPOILERS follow for Justice League as well.

Regarding killing Superman, Snyder says:

“I felt like we had to kill Superman in this movie in order for us to have been serious with the entire premise of the film. And that’s not to say that he clearly is gone forever.”

Another reason why Snyder wanted Superman gone is so Batman can be the one to form the Justice League:

“I wanted Bruce Wayne to build the Justice League. I felt like with Superman around, it’s a different conversation when you create the Justice League, right?  It’s like, ‘Me and Superman, we want to make a Justice League.’ [Other heroes would be] like, ‘Okay, yeah, I’ll join!’ I just feel like Bruce Wayne having to go out and find these seven samurai by himself, that’s a lot more interesting of a premise.”

“I also I felt like, without Superman, there is definitely a vulnerability to the team that they’re gonna need to figure something out, you know?  Superman does represent the powerful. He’s the Michael Jordan of heroes, he’s gonna score.”

Zack Snyder then explains a reason why the Justice League forms:

And a part of the reason they team up is to find a way to bring Superman back.

Regarding bringing back Superman in Justice League, Snyder teases something more than the sun will have to do the job:

“He comes very close to death in space and the reason why we did that is because I wanted to show — and keep the idea in the viewer’s mind — that he can come pretty close to death and the sun can revive him, or he can be revived.,” Snyder says, although after Doomsday, the Justice League is going to have to take more drastic measures of resuscitation. “I think something more is gonna need to be done.”

Snyder then drops a bomb that Superman might be different when he comes back:

“I felt like there’s a mythological journey for Superman,” Snyder says. “There’s the birth, death, and resurrection thing. And when you bring him back, who knows what he is when he comes back.”

Our speculation:

It’s possible Superman might be a bad guy when he comes back as Henry Cavill has previously hinted his Superman is going to do battle with Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. If we put what Cavill has said with what Snyder says above together, it seems the Justice League might revive Superman, but something might initially go wrong, so they are forced to fight Superman. Recall what the Ezra Miller Flash cameo told Bruce : something about how Bruce was right all along, that Lois was the key, and to find the others. Another clue that Superman might go bad in the Justice League movie is that The Flash scene resembled the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game, which features a bad Superman after Lois dies.

Justice League starts filming April 11th for a November 17, 2017 release.

Now Zack Snyder Kills Of Major Superman Character In Batman Vs. Superman (Spoilers)

After watching Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice, anybody else think Zack Snyder isn’t a big fan of Superman?

Spoilers follow.

Fans may recall during Man of Steel many thought Zack Snyder replaced Jimmy Olsen with Jenny Olsen; however, that turned out not to be the case.

As it turns out, Jimmy Olsen actually appears in Batman vs. Superman.

No, it’s not Scoot McNairy.

You probably missed it, but Jimmy Olsen appeared early on in Batman Vs. Superman, but wasn’t specifically mentioned by name.

Jimmy Olsen was the photographer with Lois Lane in Africa that was working for the CIA, played by Michael Cassidy.

And the photographer that was shot in the head and killed.

So Zack Snyder killed off Superman’s best friend, Jimmy Olsen.

Snyder tells EW.com:

“We just did it as this little aside because we had been tracking where we thought the movies were gonna go, and we don’t have room for Jimmy Olsen in our big pantheon of characters, but we can have fun with him, right?”

Snyder does reveal that the Batman Vs. Superman R-rated director’s cut will name-drop Jimmy Olsen.

“He comes up to her and he goes, ‘Lois Lane, I’m Jimmy Olsen, photographer, obviously … You know, I’ve been assigned to you for this mission.’ But it turns out that Jimmy Olsen is a spook for the CIA.”

It’s also learned Jesse Eisenberg was initially going to play the small role of Jimmy Olsen in order to wow the audience.

“I thought, if it were Jesse Eisenberg and he got out and he goes, ‘I’m Jimmy Olsen,’ you’d be like, oh my God, we’re gonna have Jimmy Olsen in the whole movie, right?’” Snyder says. “And then if he got shot, you’d just be like, ‘What!? You can’t do that.’”

I think it’s a shame they killed off Jimmy Olsen. In doing so, now a director down the road for another Superman movie won’t be able to use him. I haven’t been too thrilled with what Snyder has done with Superman in both his movies. I’m hoping someone that gets Superman eventually comes on board.
