Fandango: Superman Tops 2025 Ticket Sales, Beats Fantastic Four
We get official word from Fandango that James Gunn’s Superman is already showing serious momentum. According to Fandango, the Amazon Prime Early Access screenings on July 8 just became the platform’s best first-day ticket seller of the year, outpacing every other movie’s ticket launch in 2025, including Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps.
It should also be said that those Amazon screenings also had a limited number of theaters available, as they were only for IMAX and 3D screenings, I believe.
Also, I pointed out in my video that a simple check of movie ticket sites reveals those Amazon Superman screenings are filling seats, while the same can’t be said for Fantastic Four.
Tickets also went officially on sale today for Superman for all dates with the release of the final trailer, so it will be interesting to see if the seats fill up or if all the hardcore fans are going to the Amazon screenings. It’s safe to say both movies are going to need the normies to show up in full force to be a big success.
Strong Early Interest for Superman
Fandango also recently revealed Gunn’s new Man of Steel movie is voted one of the most anticipated titles of the summer in their 2025 Moviegoing Trends & Insight Study, which is based on over 5,000 surveyed moviegoers.
The study revealed fans are especially looking forward to Nicholas Hoult’s turn as Lex Luthor. In a separate survey of more than 9,000 ticket buyers, Fandango also named Hoult’s role as one of the most anticipated new performances of the year.
$100M Opening Buzz Begins
While there have been claims of a possible $175 million opening, which would be huge, we get word via Deadline that no official tracking data has been released; however, the site does confirm early projections and industry chatter do suggest Superman could be headed for a $100M+ domestic opening weekend. That would put it among the top debuts of the year if it holds.
Early Screenings Land July 8, General Release July 11
Amazon Prime members can catch Superman early on Monday, July 8. General ticket sales and full release are now happening. Tickets are now available on Fandango and through your favorite apps and movie theaters.
