James Gunn Praises Superman 3D: ‘Just Incredible to See’

When those Amazon screenings first went on sale, the IMAX theaters were mostly filled up in my area, so to get a seat front and center, I went with Superman in 3D.

Normally, I never see 3D, but I want to see James Gunn’s new Man of Steel movie ASAP.

The good news is that, like me, if you have been on the fence about seeing Superman in 3D, worry no more, as Gunn says that the 3D version of Superman is something special.

Superman 3D: “great way to see the film:

In a post on Threads, Gunn revealed he’s just seen the final version of the film in 3D and gave it high praise. The full trailer released shows David Corenswet’s Superman punching someone’s teeth out, which should look especially good in 3D:

“Just saw the final version of Superman in 3D and oh wow… just incredible to see. If you have a taste for 3D, this is a great way to see the film.”

In another posted on Threads, Gunn also posted the Superman IMAX poster and thanked the teams that helped bring his vision to life:

“Thankful for our partners across the industry who have helped make an incredible viewing experience for movie-goers.”

Amazon screening release

The Superman early Amazon screening drops on Tuesday, July 8. Tickets are available for Amazon members via amazon.com/superman.

General tickets are also on sale, which includes the Father’s Day Hero Set, and the Collector’s Bundle.

In Theaters This Summer

Superman hits theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025, and internationally beginning July 9. The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and introduces new DC heroes played by Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, and Anthony Carrigan.

This will be the first feature film under the new DC Studios banner led by Gunn and producer Peter Safran. Gunn also wrote the screenplay.

Whether you catch it in standard format or spring for the 3D, Superman is shaping up to be one of this summer’s biggest theatrical releases.
