Longtime Batman producer Charles Roven says he’s curious to see how James Gunn’s DC reboot turns out, calling the upcoming Superman movie the moment of truth.
Roven, who worked on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and numerous DC films, said of Gunn: “He’s a very talented man… The truth is going to be in the pudding pretty soon.”
Roven and Gunn go way back, having first worked together on the live-action Scooby-Doo films. While Roven isn’t directly involved in Gunn’s new DC Universe, he offered a respectful take, saying he wishes Gunn and Warner Bros. the best as they attempt to rebuild the brand. Gunn’s first major test will be Superman, hitting theaters next month and starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan.
What did Charles Roven say?
Speaking with Deadline, Roven was asked what his take is with Gunn in charge of DC:
I’m interested to see what James (Gunn) does. I’ve known James for a long time. We started working together on the live action Scooby Doo movies. He’s a very talented man, and I know he’s in the process of trying to reboot the DC Universe to his own vision. And you know, the truth is going to be in the pudding pretty soon (when Gunn’s Superman releases next month).
I wish him the best, and I wish Warner Bros the best. I’ve done many movies with them. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when they break the company apart.
Regarding the company breaking apart, Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced the company is splitting into two companies, Streaming & Studios and Global Networks.

What’s next for Batman?
