James Gunn wants fans to know Robert Pattinson isn’t going anywhere, and that Matt Reeves is still on board, and his vision for The Batman franchise is a top priority.
While promoting his upcoming Superman movie, Gunn told Entertainment Weekly that he hasn’t yet cast the new DCU’s Batman or Wonder Woman. But he made it clear that Pattinson remains firmly in place as The Batman in Reeves’ corner of the DC universe:
“[Robert Pattinson] is still there.”

Reeves’ Batman is really important
Despite numerous delays and even rumors that the film could be canceled or that Reeves is exiting, both Reeves and Pattinson are still set to return for The Batman: Part II. Reeves is currently wrapping up the script, with Gunn revealing:
“What Matt’s doing is still really important, despite all stories to the contrary. We’re supposed to see that script shortly, and I can’t wait.”

The Batman: Part II Script Is Nearly Finished
This update follows a recent report from The Wrap that Reeves has been writing the script for over six months and is expected to turn in a full draft soon.

Matt Reeves Committed to Telling His Batman Crime Saga
Matt Reeves previously spoke with Josh Horowitz about the direction of The Batman franchise, emphasizing his commitment to telling a grounded, story-driven arc he’s calling the “Epic Crime Saga.”
“It really comes down to whether or not it makes sense,” said Reeves. “What’s been great is there was a story that I wanted to tell that we’re calling The Epic Crime Saga which is the thrust of what we wanted to do. It’s been important to me to be able to play that out. James and Peter have been really, really great about that and they’re letting us do that.”
Reeves continued, “What the future brings, I can’t really tell you. I have no idea right now except that my head is down now about getting The Batman Part II shooting and to make it something really, really special which is, of course, the most important thing.”
