Watch: Dylan O’Brien Comment About Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19723:]]

Dylan O’Brien happens to be a big favorite to play Spider-Man for the new Sony Marvel venture.

The actor, known for Maze Runner and Teen Wolf, previously stated he hadn’t heard about Spider-Man professionally, but was aware of the rumors.

Now while discussing Teen Wolf, O’Brien is asked about potentially playing Peter Parker again in the below video.

O’Brien is asked if he could play Spider-Man while working on Teen Wolf, with O’Brien implying it probably wouldn’t work out with filming.

“Funny enough, probably not,” O’Brien responded. “But who knows. I have not even heard about this job other than like in these little interviews.”

It’s then remarked it’s a funny way to find out about stuff, with O’Brien agreeing and sarcastically stating, “I guess I’m Spider-Man.”

Jump to the 45-second mark to check out the comments.

It’s speculated Spider-Man will first appear in Captain America: Civil War, which will be followed by a standalone Spider-Man in 2017.

Asa Butterfield Wants To Play Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19617:]]

With Spider-Man rumored to be 15-years-old, the young actor most people think of first is usually Asa Butterfield, known for Ender’s Game, Hugo and Merlin.

Butterfield happens to be active on Reddit, and when a fan remarked Butterfield should play Spider-Man, the actor was all for it.

“I’M SO DOWN!” Butterfield enthusiastically responded.

Butterfield thinks he would make a good Peter Parker as well.

“I can do ‘thin little bespectacled dweeb‘ pretty good, not far from myself actually,” Butterfield added.

Butterfield’s response took place almost a month ago, which was prior to it said Sony and Marvel may want to go with a 15-year-old Spidey, but it was still said they wanted Spider-Man in high school.

Asa Butterfield is 17-years-old hailing from the UK.

Spider-Man is thought to be appearing in Captain America: Civil War May 2016 followed by a standalone Spider-Man movie in 2017.

Shailene Woodley Wants To Play Mary Jane In New Spider Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19577:]]

With Marvel and Sony rebooting Spider-Man, maybe Shailene Woodley will get a second chance to play Mary Jane.

Woodley actually filmed scenes for Amazing Spider-Man 2, but was cut from the film.

Now with the reboot, maybe she’ll be back.

“Oh. Yeah. I didn’t know that, actually. That’s amazing. Heck, yeah,” Woodley responded to Clevver Movies about playing Mary Jane for Marvel.

It’s unknown what direction Sony and Marvel are going with Spider-Man, but the most recent rumor stated they are going with a 15-year-old Spider-Man, so Woodley at 23 years of age might be too old.

Spider-Man is thought to be appearing in Captain America: Civil War in May 2016 and a standalone film in 2017.

New Spider-Man Said To Be As Young As 15-Years-Old

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19564:]]

Whether it’s Peter Parker, Miles Morales or a brand new version, it’s being said Sony and Marvel are looking for teenage actors to play the role of a 15-year-old Spider-Man.

Speculation surfaced earlier today when 21-year-old English actor Sam Strike tweeted he began training for a big U.S. movie, which many online thought for Spider-Man.

However, Latino Review is stating it’s probably for Fox’s Deadpool or X-Men: Apocalypse as, according to casting sources, Sony and Marvel are presently auditioning teenage actors for the role of a 15-year-old Spider-Man.

It’s previously been said the new Spider-Man would be in high school as well.

The question (at least on my mind) is if they do go with such a young Spider-Man, how are they going to get around a 15-year-old going into battle alongside the Avengers? I guess it’s possible the Avengers may not know Spidey is that young if he’s masked, but that lasting for three years until the new Spidey is an adult seems rather farfetched. I guess it’s also possible the new Spider-Man may not actually be fighting in Cap 3 (he was actually only in a few pages in the comic).

It’s unknown when the big Spider-Man announcement will now be coming as earlier saw Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn state Marvel will be not at this Summer’s Comic-Con

Captain America: Civil War is slated to begin filming this Spring. If the new Spider-Man/Peter Parker has more than a cameo, more than likely Marvel would have to announce the actor sooner rather than later.

Captain America: Civil War has a May 6, 2016 release; the new Spider-Man movie hits in 2017.

Dylan O’Brien Not Cast As Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19484:]]

A rumor hit the net in the past few days stating Dylan O’Brien has been cast as Peter Parker and Spider-Man.

However, it’s learned it isn’t true.

BuzzFeed caught up with O’Brien who shot down the rumor, with O’Brien even confirming he hasn’t auditioned.

“Professionally, I haven’t heard anything about it,” Dylan O’Brien said. “I’ve only heard from, like, [rumors] online.”

O’Brien continues flat out mentioning it’s not true.

“It makes me feel bad because I’m, like, disappointing a big chunk of fans across the nation,” he said. “You can tell them that it’s not true.”

While O’Brien may not have landed the role, his name along with Logan Lerman’s has been thrown around as potential new Spidey’s.

“It’s nothing but flattering. It’s never something I would want to get myself excited about, since I know I haven’t heard about it from a professional standpoint,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to play Peter Parker, obviously. I feel like any actor my age, that’s, like, a big thing. And my name being tossed with Logan Lerman’s is the coolest thing ever, too. I just think that kid is fucking fantastic.

“It’s really just, you know, I guess I’ll see if I even hear about it? But thank you, internet, for giving me false hope!” O’Brien laughed.

Spider-Man is expected to first appear in “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016 followed by a standalone film in 2017.

Russo Bros. Sign First-Look Deal With Sony

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19480:]]Anthony & Joe Russo At Captain America: Winter Soldier Premiere

Joe and Anthony Russo are developing The Gray Man at Sony, and now it’s learned the duo behind the likes of Captain America: Winter Soldier have signed a first-look three-year deal with Sony, which is set to kick off this April.

“Joe and Anthony Russo are terrifically exciting filmmakers with a sensibility that matches the tastes of audiences worldwide,” Sony producer Doug Belgrad said in a statement.

“Joe and Anthony Russo have demonstrated their ability to bring excitement, audacity and phenomenal commercial success to a variety of genres and endeavors,” added Michael DeLuca and Hannah Minghella, “and we are proud to add them to the family. Their original voices and fearless execution are a tremendous addition to our studio.”

“We’re thrilled to make a home at Sony Pictures, and to be partnering with the entire team,” Joe and Anthony Russo said in a joint statement. “The studio has created an environment that is not only collaborative, but truly filmmaker-friendly and we’re excited to begin developing both new and ambitious material with them.”

The Russo brothers are directing Captain America: Civil War for Disney/Marvel and The Avengers Infinity War movies.

Previous leaked Sony e-mails also revealed interest in Spider-Man by the Russo brothers. Sony has yet to announce a director on the new Spider-Man (or a new actor), but the Russo’s seem a perfect fit.

Drew Goddard Rumored To Write & Direct New Spider-Man Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19457:]]

It’s being said that Sony has hired Drew Goddard to write and direct a new Spider-Man movie.

The news comes from Latino Review, who also claim the new Spidey movies will be called “Spectacular Spider-Man.”

Goddard was attached to direct the Sinister Six movie, but the report says it’s been scrapped for a later time, with the Sinister Six to be introduced in the new Spider-Man movie.

It’s also claimed the new Spider-Man movie will see Spider-man battling Iron Man (meaning Robert Downey Jr.?) for most of the film, and then Spider-Man tries to pass an audition to join the Avengers. According to the report, there will not be an origin for Spider-Man; he is said to have existed from the beginning and will be in high school. It’s said they want a younger Spider-Man so they could have a bunch of movies, similar to Harry Potter.

While their plot information sounds like glorified fan-fiction – Avengers, Iron Man, six villains and high school kid joining the Avengers – Goodard can be considered a good choice to direct. Goodard co-wrote and directed Cabin In the Woods with Joss Whedon; is a producer and wrote episodes on the Marvel Daredevil Netflix series; wrote World War Z; wrote Cloverfield and episodes of Lost, Buffy and Angel.

Spider-Man is expected to first appear in Captain America: Winter Soldier in 2016 followed by the standalone film in 2017.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige and former Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal are producing.

Update: The reliable Hollywood trade sites are reporting it’s not a done deal.

Mark Millar Talks Civil War & Spider-Man Back At Marvel

Mark Millar recently attended the Glassgow Film Festival where he participated in a QnA with IGN about his Civil War Marvel comic book and Spider-Man returning to Marvel.

Millar offered the following about Spider-Man, and you can listen to more above where Millar compares writing the Civil War comic with juggling gasoline due to all the tie-ins, talks using the likeness of Samuel L. Jackson in the comic and more.

People kept saying to me ‘they can’t do [Captain America] Civil War‘ without Spider-Man,’ but in the actual book Spider-Man only appears in about six pages.

In the end what they’ve got is Spider-Man back, which is actually great as somebody who has been baffled by the last two Spider-Man films, the idea of Marvel getting it back does feel like ‘coming home’ a little bit. It’s not that they can do no wrong. Thor 2 wasn’t very good and Iron Man 2 wasn’t very good, so they have their misfires as well, but I think Spider-Man is like the holy grail for them. They are not going to mess this up. They are going to make it great. All eyes are on them, so they have to bring their A-game.

Mark Millar is known for Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and his Starlight comic is coming to the big screen with Star Wars writer Gary Whitta on the screenplay.

Now Michelle Rodriguez Says To Write Our Own Mythology & Stop Being Lazy (Video)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19427:]]

Lately, Hollywood has been replacing white characters with minority actors, and while their spiel is usually “the best actor got the job,” some think it to be a form of racial diversity.

Earlier saw Fast and Furious actress Michelle Rodriquez questioned about potentially playing Green Lantern, with Rodriguez laughing it off and suggesting Hollywood stop replacing white superheroes and come up with their own.

Now Rodriguez has taken to her Facebook page to further clarify her statements.

You can watch the video below or check out the text:

Yeah, guys, I want to clarify about my comment yesterday. I stuck my foot in my mouth once again, and I said that people should stop trying to steal white people’s superheroes. I guess it got taken out of context ’cause a lot of people got offended or whatever. I have a tendency to speak without a filter. Sorry about that.

What I really meant was that ultimately at the end of the day there’s a language, and the language that you speak in Hollywood is successful franchise. I think there are many cultures in Hollywood – that are not white – that can come up with their own mythology. I mean we all get it from the same reservoir of life. The fountain of life, and it doesn’t matter what culture you come from. I’m just saying that instead of trying to turn a girl character into a guy, or instead of trying to turn a white character into a black character or a latin character, I think that people should stop being lazy. People should actually make an effort in Hollywood to develop their own mythology. And you know what? If being American is your mythology, and the American culture is deep embedded into who you are and what makes you or the archetype that you are trying to portray in a Hollywood feature or in a comic book — so be that, but I’m just saying that the different cultures from around the world that are in Hollywood – latin, black, asian, so on and so forth – considered “minorities,” because there are not a lot of writers representing them, they should start focusing that on making that a serious priority.

It’s not about taking Catwoman or Superman or Green Lantern or whatever these characters are and trying to make them fit to whatever cultural background you are. I just feel like it should be more creative than that. I think that people need to stop being lazy. That’s what I meant by my comment. You know, I’m taking it to heart as well. I’m considering this while I am out there coming up with projects to do and things to write. I just think it’s time to stop. Stop trying to take what’s already there and try to fit culture into it. I think it’s time for us to write our own mythology and our own story. Every culture. That’s what I really mean, and I am sorry if it came off rude or stupid. It’s not what I meant.

So cheers.

Spider-Man Back In Trouble? Tom Rothman Named Head Of Sony Motion Picture Group

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19342:]]

It’s learned that Tom Rothman has replaced Amy Pascal and has been named the head of Sony’s motion picture group.

We’re not sure if or how this will affect plans for the new Spider-Man, but for comic book movie fans, red flags should be going off.

Rothman was recently said to have been let go from Fox due to a lackluster performance, with Rothman said to have interfered in the production of X-Men Origins: Wolverine without the director’s knowledge and apparently was also responsible for blocking the Deadpool movie (see below). Rothman was also behind X-Men: The Last Stand.

Regarding Spider-Man, Amy Pascal is spearheading the new direction as part of a new Sony venture production wing, so it’s possible Rothman’s input may be minimal. In addition, Marvel’s Kevin Feige is onboard as producer.

The Amazing Spider-Man movies ran into problems when the producers didn’t care much for director Marc Webb’s input, which obviously led to the current situation. Hopefully, history isn’t going to repeat itself with Rothman.

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld isn’t a fan and tweeted the following about the Rothman news:

Spider-Man Again Said To Be Non-White

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19337:]]

A couple of days ago saw it mentioned that Sony and Marvel’s new Spider-Man may be black or latino.

Now the source of the rumor is back at it stating while Sony is testing white actors for the role of Spider-Man, it’s thought Sony is wanting to cast a non-white actor.

The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider took to his Twitter to offer that: “White actors are still going out for Spider-Man but their reps are telling me they think Sony is leaning ‘ethnic.'”

There has been debate online as well regarding a black Peter Parker, with Marvel Comics writer Dan Slott adding his two cents on Twitter to the argument for a possible non-white Spider-Man.

Dan seems to think that the color of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is a non-factor and uses Luke Cage and Black Panther as examples of race being an integral component to the character. With that thought, Dan says that anybody can then have a chance to be Spidey.

It’s speculated that Sony needs to pick the actor soon as Spider-Man is said to first appear in Captain America: Civil War. Of course, it’s always possible Spidey could cameo in costume, and we could then see the Peter Parker actor in the Sony July 2017 Spider-Man movie.

Dan Slott Says A Black Peter Parker Spider-Man Is Possible

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19312:]]

With Spider-Man being shared by Sony and Marvel, there is question whether or not they will be using the classic version of Spidey (a white Peter Parker) or go with a version that would be black, latino, or both.

Rumors of a racially diverse Spider-Man kicked up when a reporter for the Hollywood trade site, the Wrap, stated he thinks that he’s 95% sure the new Spider-Man won’t be white.

Fans quickly reactied with mention that in the official announcement an exec for Sony mentioned they are using Peter Parker.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean a white Peter Parker.

A fan remarked the fact that Peter Parker is white to Marvel Comics writer Dan Slott, who recently stated he wouldn’t mind a Spider-man that is not white.

Dan’s response?

Dan replied back with an image of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. In the regular Marvel Comics universe, Nick Fury is white, but in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, Nick Fury is black (and in the movies).

Slott is obviously saying that anything is possible, and Peter Parker could end up black.

Slott also added along with the pic: “Story re-opened. Now sit your ass down.”

Slott continued tweeting defending the possibility of a non-white Spider-Man.

Here are some of Dan’s tweets:

New Spider-Man Rumored To Be Black

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19288:]]

With Sony and Marvel coming to a deal for Spider-Man, the question is whether the new Spider-Man will be Peter Parker or possibly a different version.

Now a reporter for the Hollywood trade site, The Wrap, is stating the new Spider-Man will be black or possibly Latino.

“This is not set in stone guys, but I’m telling you right now: Spider-Man is not going to be white,” Jeff Sneider said on a podcast. “Spider-Man is not going to be white. I am 95% sure. Spider-Man is going to be most likely black. But there is a chance he could also be Latino. 95% sure not white. I don’t think it’s going to be Peter ParkerSony has an opportunity to beat Marvel and DC to the punch with sort of a major black comic book character. Like I said last week, the e-mails that leaked were perceived to be racist in some quarters. I really think that is going to play into things.”

Marvel Comics does have a black Spider-Man with Miles Morales, which is a part of their Ultimate Universe (and what the movies seem to be more based on). Miles is of Puerto Rican and African American descent.

It’s thought the new Spider-Man will first appear in Captain America: Civil War, which is out May 2016, and a standalone Spider-Man film is schedulef for July 28, 2017.

Dan Slott Talks Spider-Man In Marvel Movies

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19277:]]

Writer Dan Slott is fast becoming known as the go-to guy for Spider-Man in the Marvel Comics universe having first written Spidey in an issue of Ren and Stimpy back in 1992 and most recently with the well-received Spider-Verse storyline.

As Marvel and Sony recently announced a joint venture for Spider-Man movies, who else is there better to go to regarding the cinematic version of Spider-Man than Dan Slott?

The Verge caught up with Dan Slott and asked which storyline would he like to see featured, with Dan recommending “Kraven’s Last Hunt” by J.M. DeMatteis. It should also probably be noted that former WB president Jeff Robinov, who is now at Sony, also recommended the Kraven storyline.

As a fan? If I had to discount anything that I’ve written — me and my gigantic ego — I would say the J.M. DeMatteis story “Kraven’s Last Hunt.” I would love for a screenwriter to mine that material.

This is something that comics fans get upset about when a movie is being made before they get a chance to see it. You have to change things for the movie. There are things that work in a comic, and then there are things that you can only do in a movie. But I think if someone, as a starting point, took “Kraven’s Last Hunt,” which is one of the greatest Spider-Man stories ever told, I think you could have a phenomenal movie.

Dan goes on to mention other possibilities for Spider-Man on the big screen as well.

And there are so many characters who haven’t had their chance yet. I think Mysterio would be one of the greatest movie villains. The guy’s powers are special effects. That means you could do anything you’ve ever seen in a movie in a Spider-Man. Anything. Blow up the White House. 10,000 aliens descending from space. Ghosts coming out of walls. Whatever you want! Matrix bullet time. I don’t care. Eye-popping, blow-the-back-of-your-head-out special effects. It gives you free rein. There are just so many characters we haven’t seen that are ripe to be the main character in a Spider-Man movie.

Slott also comments on the potential for Spider-Man to be of any race (there is Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales who is of Puerto Rican and African American descent):

…one of the things I’d be interested in seeing is, I hope they make the casting open for everyone. There’s nothing inherently white about Peter Parker. Peter Parker is a nerdy outcast. Anybody, from any walk of life, can be a nerdy outcast. One of the reasons why Spider-Man speaks to everyone around the world is that mask. I’ve met so many young Spider-Man fans over the years. People that grew up and are now old, but when they first met Spider-Man, they kind of didn’t know who was under that mask. And that gives him the freedom to be anyone. That gives him the freedom to be someone just like you. It’d be really nice to see that as a possibility. Even if they end up casting someone who, at the end of the day, looks just like Peter Parker. It would be nice if the door was open and they just [said] , “Spider-Man can be anybody.”

Spider-Man will first be featured in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016 before getting a new Spider-Man movie on July 28, 2017.

NINO Selling Under 20K: Bring Back Richard Rider As Nova

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19237:]]

NINO is now selling under the Marvel cancellation threshold (at least what used to be) as January’s issue #26 sold only 19,639 copies.

That number is, again, less than the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s 2007 Richard Rider Nova series, which sold 28,096 with the same issue back in June 2009.

Bear in mind, Marvel Editorial never gave DnA’s Nova (or Guardians of the Galaxy) any promotion or attention. And get this: When the Guardians of the Galaxy movie became known, Marvel editorial actually cancelled all of DnA’s cosmic stuff and sent them packing.

Both James Gunn and Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige have stated in interviews that Abnett and Lanning’s Guardians is the inspiration for the almost-billion dollar Marvel movie, and Gunn even had them visit the set and got them back on the movie tie-in comics.

Meanwhile, Dan Buckley, David Gabriel, Joe Quesada, Axel Alonso, Tom Brevoort, Jeph Loeb, Stephen Wacker and Brian Michael Bendis (IMO) put the screws to DnA and took over their stuff.

I’ve said it again, but it’s worth repeating: Marvel Comics must be such a nice company to work for – and what a great boss Alonso must be – when you get fired for inspiring billion dollar Marvel movies.

Getting back to NINO, there is speculation amongst fans that Marvel was attempting to create another Spider-Man as Marvel Studios didn’t hold any of the rights to the character. It’s suggested Marvel was trying to repeat Spider-Man’s success with NINO, which obviously didn’t happen. Now that Marvel Studios does have Spider-Man in part back, can we now end the failed experiment that is NINO?

With NINO now selling less than 20k, isn’t it time to bring back Richard Rider?

From a fan perspective, it’s obvious Richard Rider is the choice of Nova.

I would also say from a business perspective, the right choice would be to go with Richard Rider. It’s already known the Richard Rider Infinite action figure outsold all the Guardians of the Galaxy movie characters – and Nova wasn’t in the movie. Rider is the fan’s choice to be Nova in the Marvel Heroes 2015 video game, and now at Toy Fair, a new Richard Rider Nova action figure was just revealed.

Just think if DnA’s Nova – that outsold NINO – had received half the attention that NINO did.

NINO was featured in Marvel Infinite Comics, Avengers issues and tie-ins, big Marvel events, not to mention the Disney Ultimate Spider-Man series.

Nova didn’t receive any of that and still sold better.

Let’s bring back Richard Rider as Nova, Marvel.

Dylan O’Brien & Logan Lerman Eyed For New Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19145:]]

With Sony and Marvel casting a new Spider-Man, now it’s said Dylan O’Brien and Logan Lerman are eyed for the role.

Variety reports Sony has yet to approach any actors, but O’Brien and Lerman are among the list of actors that would play the new Spider-Man in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and the standalone Sony film.

It’s also said Sony needs to decide if they will even go with the classic Spider-Man and Peter Parker version or decide to go with the Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales, whose parents are African American and Puerto Rican.

According to the report, Sony is also seeking a new director, as Marc Webb is out, before finding the new Spider-Man.

Further information about the new Spider-Man again mentions Spider-Man set in Midtown High School, with it said to “spend more time in the setting and explore his awkward relationship with other students while fighting crime out of the classroom. Midtown is a major setting in the comicbooks, and Peter Parker also returns to the school to become a science teacher in storylines.”

Dylan O’Brien, known for Maze Runner and Teen Wolf, did state he would be interested in playing Spider-Man in an older interview: “…kinda nerdy dude in high school, then he gets to be a superhero running around new york city, doing spider webs and stuff… that’s basically my entire dream as a human being.. i like wanna be Peter Parker.”

Likewise, Logan Lerman, known for Fury and Percy Jackson, was up for Spider-Man prior to Andrew Garfield getting the role: “There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s [Spider-man] one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it.”

Both O’Brien and Lerman were on our Five Potential Actors For The New Spider-Man list.

Captain America: Civil War has a May 6, 2016 release date; the new Spider-Man is set for July 28, 2017.

Kevin Feige Not Involved With Spider-Man Spinoffs: New Spidey In High School

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19126:]]

Last night saw the news of Spider-Man being a part of the Marvel movie universe with the news Spidey set to appear first in a Marvel Studios movie followed by a Sony solo film.

The news also made mention that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would be onboard the new Spider-Man as a producer.

Now details regarding the Sony and Marvel deal have apparently come to light as Variety offers the following details:

It’s actually said to be a “free” deal as Marvel Studios won’t have to pay Sony for the use of Spider-Man in Captain America 3, an Avengers movie or any other film.

It’s also reported Marvel won’t be receiving a cut of the box office from Sony’s Spider-Man movies, and  also that Sony will not be getting anything for the Marvel movies.

It is said Marvel may benefit from the Sony Spider-Man films if the new Spider-Man movies hit certain box office milestones, with that deal being likened to more of a producer structure.

How the deal benefits both sides is that Spider-Man gives both Sony and Marvel a way to generate more exposure for their properties as Spider-Man is one of the biggest household superhero names.

The report also states that Spider-Man will be recast, and they are looking for a younger actor to play the role as Spider-Man will have his roots set in high school.

It’s further said that Kevin Feige will not be involved with the planned Spider-Man spinoffs, Sinister Six, Venom, and the female-centric Spider-Man spinoff, which are still on the table.

Captain America: Civil War has a May 6, 2016 release; the new Spider-Man movie is set for July 28, 2017.

Hugh Jackman Weighs In On Wolverine and Marvel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19121:]]

Last night saw Marvel announce Spider-Man will be a part of the MCU Universe first appearing in a Marvel Studios film before getting a new solo movie.

Now Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine for FOX, weighs in on Logan potentially joining the Marvel movie universe (via Geek.com).

There’s so many forces at play there, man, beyond what anyone would want. The thing I’ve always loved about the comic-book world is how the fun thing was how a writer of a comic book could just pull all these characters together and what became a Friday-night discussion of ‘it would be cool to see Batman fight Wolverine’ and bang, Monday morning they’re working on it, you know. But that’s an idealized world.

As Jackman seemingly says, any chance of Wolverine being a part of some big Marvel crossover obviously wouldn’t be up to him, but the “many forces at play,” – meaning the corporate executives.

Previous comments made by Jackman included he wanted to kick Robert Downey Jr.’s ass on the big screen; he said he wanted to join the Avengers and battle the Hulk, and also was optimistic about there being a shared movie universe.

Hugh Jackman is thought to be featured as Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse and in a sequel to The Wolverine which might see Logan teaming up with Patrick Stewart and Professor X.

Jackman will also be featured in Chappie on March 6th.
