Boyd Holbrook To Play Wolverine 3 Villain

The sequel to The Wolverine has founds its villain with Boyd Holbrook.

Deadline reports Boyd Holbrook, known for roles in Narcos, Gone Girl and Hatfields & McCoys, will play the lead villain opposite Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

Boyd Holbrook’s character is described as: “a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise who is set against Jackman’s clawed Wolverine/Logan hero.”

It’s been said the movie is supposed to be based on the “Old Man Logan” Marvel Comics storyline; however, as some of those characters are owned by Marvel Studios (Red Skull, Abomination, Hulk, Hawkeye, etc.), it’s possible Holbrook’s character could be an original character created for the movie.

The untitled Wolverine movie has a March 2, 2017 release, so it should begin filming soon, which will be Hugh Jackman’s list, and it’s also been said the film may be rated-R. James Mangold returns to direct.

Hugh Jackman Holding Out Until Last Wolverine Is Done Right (Video)

Earlier saw Hugh Jackman recommend Tom Hardy as the next Wolverine, and now in the above video Jackman talks about his last time as the adamantium clawed bersker.

First Hugh Jackman comments on Patrick Stewart reprising as Professor Xavier offering he wants to see something from Professor X that hasn’t been done before with mention of a father/son relationship with Logan. Jackman also mentions the script isn’t complete, but the treatment is, which he is “90% happy” with.

Here is the Patrick Stewart blurb:

“I’ll be really honest with you, the actual script in its full form we’re up to about page 60. Obviously there’s a treatment, so it’s not fully done yet. We’re not fully there. Patrick does figure in it, that’s for sure. I think it’s a really important relationship, but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas.”

As Jackman mentioned the script isn’t complete, he says he isn’t committing to the movie unless he is sure everything is going to be done right. Jackman does mention he is currently in training and dieting for the role, and if everything goes right, they should start shooting next year.

“…this is the last time I am playing him. I’ve just made the commitment to myself really, and told everyone until that script is perfect, until it is that perfect way to sign out, I’m not going to start shooting…

“I’m trying to do something with this that is a little special, a little different. I’ve got a very, very strong idea of what that is. I really have known for quite a long time how I want to finish this, sort of odyssey that I’ve been on, this amazing journey, and I won’t let it fall anywhere in between. I won’t fall short of it.”

The untitled Wolverine sequel has a planned 2017 release with James Mangold returning to direct.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21700:]]

Patrick Stewart is confirmed for the sequel to The Wolverine.

Stewart will be back as Professor Xavier along with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine one last time as the actor confirmed the news to Collider.

“I can tease them in the following way. I think what you say is true. There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me. And the idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great. So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better,  if that’s the case.”

The untitled Wolverine sequel has a March 3, 2017 release date with James Mangold returning to direct as well.

Watch: Blunt Talk Trailer Starring Patrick Stewart

Star Trek and X-Men’s Patrick Stewart stars in a new series coming to Starz this month with Blunt Talk.

Check out the trailer above.

Blunt Talk follows Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering American nightly cable news and his mostly misguided decision-making, on and off the air.

The series premieres August 22 9P ET/PT.

Info:

“Blunt Talk,” a 10-episode half-hour series, set in Los Angeles, follows Walter Blunt, played by Patrick Stewart, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. Through the platform of his nightly news show, Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave.

Besieged by network bosses, a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives, children of all ages, and his own well-intentioned, but sometimes misguided decisions, Blunt’s only support is in the form of the heavy-drinking, devoted manservant he transplanted from the U.K.

The cast is led by Patrick Stewart in the role of Walter Blunt, Jacki Weaver as Rosalie, Blunt’s tough and motherly producer-manager and Adrian Scarborough as Harry, Blunt’s manservant. Patrick Stewart Visits X-Men: Apocalypse Set

Check out a photo Bryan Singer posted on Instagram of Patrick Stewart and Jason Reitman visiting the set of X-Men: Apocalypse.

Before you get your hopes up for Stewart reprising as Professor Xavier, apparently Stewart, Reitman and Michael Fassbender were a part of a live reading of The Big Lebowski later on that night.

The second set image below is of a destroyed Cairo, Egypt, the home of Storm.

Stewart is currently rumored to be reprising one last time as Prof. X with Hugh Jackman in the sequel to The Wolverine.

X-Men: Apocalypse has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Isaac.

Patrick Stewart In Talks For The Wolverine 2; Ian McKellen In X-Men: Apocalypse

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19100:]]

Patrick Stewart previously made it known that he would not be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, and now Stewart again confirms the news, but this time offers he might be in the sequel to The Wolverine.

Stewart spoke with Oregon Live where he also confirmed Ian McKellen’s Magneto will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Yes, I understand that it seems to be very unlikely that I will be in the next “X-Men” movie, which is almost getting ready to start shooting in Montreal.

[LAUGHS] But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it. And what I’m very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of “X-Men” from the four movies that I’ve already done.

Fox has slated the next Wolverine movie for a March 3, 2017 release, which will see James Mangold return to direct.

The Wolverine made over $400 million in 2013.

X-Men: Apocalypse has a May 27, 2016 release.

No Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen For X-Men: Apocalypse

It’s learned the next X-Men movie will be without Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.

Larry King recently interviewed Patrick Stewart and asked the first Professor X if he was going to be in X-Men: Apocalypse, which comes out in 2016.

“No,” Stewart responded. “Nor is Sir Ian McKellen, either. I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters. And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.”

Yahoo got a first peek at the interview with Stewart from Larry King, with their article also noting that Patrick Stewart hasn’t rules out being a part of an X-Men spinoff film like Deadpool or Gambit.

X-Men: Apocalypse has a May 7, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and James McAvoy as Charles Xavier.

Casey’s Dune Hollywood Film Draft: Cameron, Stewart, Hemsworth, Connery, Nicholson

(Editor’s Note: The following is part of The First Cosmic Book News Fantasy Hollywood Draft)

 [[wysiwyg_imageupload:2736:]]

By: Casey Gordon

Director: James Cameron – Jimmy C, as I like to refer to him, is a relatively well known director, responsible for such cult hits and underrated classics like The Abyss, Titanic, and Avatar. Now, can he handle Dune? Good question. I think the answer is yes. He has dealt with licenses in several of his past productions, such as the Titanic (that one museum place owns it maybe, but I mean, he didn’t make it up. The Titanic hit an ice cube and sank. Oops), Rambo, and Aliens. And that group turned out well enough. Perhaps his biggest hits were mostly his creations, like Avatar, and not sourced from elsewhere, but that doesn’t mean he can’t make Dune. Referencing Avatar again, that film also showed that he could lead a team to create a believable (if you’re into believing stuff) alien world, and then bring it to life. And maybe sand doesn’t sound exciting. But it is. Or maybe I should have picked Peter Jackson. But then the already long walking across Arrakis would become even longer. And Jimmy C’s milkshakes bring all the boys to the theatres.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2737:]]Gurney Halleck? Well, Patrick Stewart of course. What? You say he already has done it? DAMN RIGHT! And he hasn’t really changed at all. And the man is a muse. And he knows how to use a sword. I’m not going to explain it any more either. So there.

Duncan Idaho. He was a pretty cool guy. Until he died (OR DID HE? He did. But not really). But he is the Swordmaster in residence, the ladies loved him, and he killed record amounts of the Emperor’s Sardaukar. He is Chis Hemsworth. I mean, this is the role for him to play, look at his role as Thor, or the Huntsman (decent, but that movie…I shake my head).  He can easily be a warrior who enjoys his Spice beer a bit too much, but can easily hold his own in a fight. He could do it.

Stilgar. He’s the stalwart leader of Sietch Tabr. The leader of the desert nomads; the Fremen. And he is Sean Connery. He is at the age where he can command respect, but has the appearance of one who has fought for many hard years in the past before he reached this place. And while he may be old, the fight hasn’t left him yet. Is he retired from acting? Not when he hears of his casting. A proper crazy Ivan this will be.

Baron Harkonnen will be Jack Nicholson. Now maybe he isn’t fat enough to be in a suspensor suit, but minor detail. He certainly has villainy under his [[wysiwyg_imageupload:2738:]]control, such as the commanding Colonel Jessup, the crazed Jack Torrance, or the dastardly Daryl van Horn. All of whom have characteristics that would combine to make one fantastic Baron. A sadistic, scheming old man with everything he needs, but nonetheless has lust for ever more power.

Next up is Tom Felton as the Sting. I mean Tom Felton as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. Tom Felton is mainly known for one role, that of Draco Malfoy, which is how he came into consideration for this role. He has had plenty of practice at being a bad guy, but as an accessory to the main evil, not as his own menace, which is almost exactly what Feyd is. He can act the haughty heir, raised the sadistic heir of the Harkonnen family, as he did for the Malfoys. And while we all know what happens at the end, until that point, he’s had this role for 10 years. Now let it be used for a better franchise.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2739:]]The Lady Jessica is Cate Blanchett. The Lady Jessica is a respected role. She is the mother of Paul Muad’dib, the concubine of Duke Leto Atreides, and a Reverend Mother of the Fremen. She is in almost a regal position in the world of Dune. And Cate Blanchett’s filmography has helped prepare her for the role, as Queen Elizabeth I, Galadriel, and Katherine Hepburn. And all of those roles are of powerful, regal women, as is the Lady Jessica.

And finally we come to Paul Muad’dib Atreides. To be cast as Paul is Josh HutchersonHutcherson has had a solid acting career since the age of 10.  Most recently, he was cast in the Hunger Games in the leading position as Peeta Somelastnameoranother.  And with that, he can become Paul. And while he might have been beaten up a bit in that film, he would kick way more ass on Dune. And he could do it. He’s a strong young actor, and this would cement his place in history.  In addition, it seems that his hair could be styled the same way that MacLachlan had his hair as Paul in the 1984 Dune film directed by David Lynch. Because that is the official Atreides heirstyle (get it?).
