Patrick Stewart Officially Done With X-Men

Though Patrick Stewart seemed to hint at a return to the X-Men movie universe, the 76-year-old actor has now announced he is done with the X-Men movies following Logan.

Patrick Stewart appeared at an event alongside Hugh Jackman and James Mangold and stated Logan is his last time as Professor Xavier, with the movie also marking Hugh Jackman’s last time as Wolverine.

“I was so moved by it, much more moved than I had been the first time of seeing it,” Stewart said (via EW). “…[After the screening,] we were going to be taken up on stage, but not until the credits were over. We had some time to sit there and, as I sat there, I realized there will never be a better, a more perfect, a more sensitive, emotional, and beautiful way of saying au revoir to Charles Xavier than this movie. So, I told [Hugh] that same evening, ‘I’m done too. It’s all over.’”

Both Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman debuted together in Bryan Singer’s 2000 X-Men movie.

While Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman are done with X-Men, the franchise moves forward with more Deadpool movies, New Mutants, X-Men: Supernova, X-Force, and the X-Men and Legion TV series.

Logan opens this Thursday.
