It’s AGAIN claimed that Wolverine is not in the X-Men movie which is said to be in development at Marvel Studios with Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie writing the script (there is no director or release date or official announcement).
The latest rumor, which follows the SAME rumor from September of last year comes via Daniel RPK who says exactly what was said a year ago.
Daniel RPK said on his Patreon that fans pay for: “I hear the current treatment for the MCU X-Men reboot does not include Wolverine, at all.”
Well, it’s exactly what was said by scooper CanWeGetSomeToast a year ago, who Marvel Studios recently shut down.
Why isn’t Wolverine in the X-Men movie?
Daniel RPK goes on to guess the reason there is no Wolverine in the X-Men movie is because Hugh Jackman is sticking around the MCU. It’s thought that possibly due to the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Hugh Jackman will at least play Wolverine up to Avengers: Secret Wars. However, Daniel RPK thinks it will be longer, and that is the reason for no Wolverine in the X-Men movie.
“[The] Rest of the team is similar to the X-Men ’97 cartoon plus some. But no Wolverine because Hugh Jackman is sticking around for now. Likely even post Secret Wars,” he said.
According to CanWeGetSomeToast, the reason there is no Wolverine in the X-Men movie is pretty simple: Wolverine wasn’t a part of the original X-Men team in the comics, and the MCU will build up to the MCU’s version of Wolverine.
“The current idea to reboot the X-Men in the MCU does NOT feature Wolverine on the team…” posted the account in September of 2023. “There’s a reason why Marvel is starting to push the X-Men so hard across all mediums, and will continue to push them until they’re on the big screen.”
A fan replied to the tweet and pointed out, “He is not an original member. Sounds fine. They find him.”
CanWeGetSomeToast agreed, “Exactly. The Weapon X program has to be formed before Wolverine joins the team, and Adamantium JUST appeared in the MCU. It honestly might be a while before Logan joins up with the X-Men.”
Also as I said, the bonus that Wolverine might not be a part of the X-Men for fans is that instead of getting Wolverine AND the X-Men in one project, likely there will be separate projects featuring both, so separate Wolverine projects and X-Men movies.
Again, whether it has to do with Hugh Jackman sticking around is just a guess. We’ve been told Henry Cavill is in talks to play Wolverine.
