WB Worried About Batman Vs. Superman Because of Popcorn Marvel Movies?

Batman Vs. Superman Final Trailer

A couple of days ago saw word hit that Warner Bros. is worried about Batman Vs. Superman and the Justice League universe.

Now it’s being said the blame is not with the quality of the movie itself, but with the audience.

According to Batman On Film, WB is indeed worried about how audiences will react to Batman Vs. Superman and how the film will perform at the box office (isn’t any studio when a new movie is coming out?).

The site goes on to suggest WB may be nervous that since Batman vs. Superman isn’t “popcorn fluff” (meaning a Marvel film) that audiences won’t understand the movie, but the site states not to worry because the Christopher Nolan Batman movies definitely weren’t “popcorn” and they were a big success (note: Nolan apparently isn’t involved with Batman Vs. Superman at all).

Regarding the previous rumor that stated a new standalone Ben Affleck Batman movie could replace Justice League, Batman On Film says they can’t shoot that rumor down as obviously if Batman Vs. Superman doesn’t perform up to expectations, things could change (which is why Batman was added to the Man of Steel sequel — more on that below).

It’s further said there is a group at WB who want Batman to be the focus and are concerned about Batman being a part of a team-up film.

I can also corroborate what they say about Batman being added to the Man of Steel sequel as I’ve been told WB wanted Man of Steel to hit a billion dollars at the box office. Immediately following Man of Steel‘s opening, there was talk of a straight up sequel wih Superman being the focus; however, as Man of Steel‘s box office performance slowed, that’s when Batman came into the picture.

I was told essentially a Man of Steel sequel script was combined with a Batman script for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We do know that Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck brought Chris Terrio on board to rewrite the David Goyer script, which I am guessing was the Man of Steel sequel. We also know Lex Luthor’s part was rewritten to accomodate Jesse Eisenberg (a younger Lex Luthor instead of Goyer’s older version).

All that said – again like any other movie – if Batman Vs. Superman performs well at the box office, all the rumors will be proven just to be speculation and nothing more.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Taron Egerton Rumored For Jason Todd In Batman Vs. Superman Justice League Universe

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24344:]]

A new rumor has hit the net regarding Jason Todd in the DC Cinematic Universe.

The latest has it that the star of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Taron Egerton, is being eyed for the role of Jason Todd in the Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League movie universe.

In the comics, Jason Todd also happens to be Nightwing as well as the Red Hood.

An earlier batch of rumors suggested the Ben Affleck solo Batman movie may feature the Red Hood in an adaptation of the DC Comics Batman storylines “A Death in the Family” and “Under The Hood.”

“Jason Todd has returned from the grave as the Red Hood, working in the shadows to make people think he’s Batman, while making Batman look like a criminal,” the previous rumor stated in part.

The current Taron Egerton Jason Todd rumor comes from The Daily Planet DCEU Rumors Twitter feed, which also states other actors may be up for the role, but that Taron Egerton is the current favorite to play the role.

Watch: “Will Batman v Superman Suck?” Screen Junkies Video Causes Controversy

Following the final Batman Vs. Superman trailer (watch below), the Screen Junkies YouTube channel posted one of their “Movie Fights” that asks “Will Batman V Superman Suck?”

The video was created on the date the trailer dropped, but interestingly enough, was posted following the recent controversial rumor that WB is worried about Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League.

The video itself is not without its own controversy as fans are now accusing Screen Junkies of being Marvel shills and intentionally trying to create negative feelings surrounding Batman Vs. Superman.

A petition has also been launched asking fans to unsubscribe from their channel.

Screen Junkies has also commented about the controvery surrounding their video:

All of you complaining about the title – Why not watch the fight first? 🙂 Because guess what….No one says it’ll suck! BUT to ignore the fact that DC has a tougher road to travel here is silly – many assume it will, and given the much more divisive feedback BvS has received over Civil War, the question is fair to ask. Oh and for the record: Batman and Superman are my favorite superheroes of all time 🙂 so OF COURSE we will be doing a “Will Civil War Suck episode” when a final trailer drops. CW comes out in May guys, BvS comes out in March! But it doesn’t matter what I say does it?? #HatersGonnaHate Oh but I do wanna thank the Schmoes! They made this an awesome fight !! Peace & Love @andysignore

Update: Following the uproard, Screen Junkies changed the name of their video to “Will Batman v Superman Be Great?”

We changed the title. It upset too many of you, and therefore wasn’t worth the extra views it may have warranted, and so we apologize. It’s never our goal to fan this unnecessary Marvel / DC flame war, and seeing the comments this title was too much. We’re here to talk and speculate about movies we’re ALL excited for. The truth is, we can’t wait to see BOTH #BatmanVSuperman AND #CivilWar. What a time to live! We hope more than anything that BOTH movies are amazing! And the verdict is still out on both of them. The intent of our original title WAS click-bait… And that’s because our “Will Blank Suck” fights are typically our highest viewed. Views are important for our channel. Given the heat on this film, we were merely attempting to copy the format & success of last year’s Jurassic World battles. We did NOT do it for any “Secret DC Hatred”! Those of you that actually watched the episode (which was a really fun one! You should try it!) will see that all the panelists said it wouldn’t suck. Also don’t forget that we’ve tackled numerous positive BvS topics in previous MovieFights (Look up our “Best Moment in the BvS trailer” or “Who would win in a fight Batman v Supes v WW” etc etc). While we’ll never be able to prove this to some of you, the truth is: We are NOT #DCHaters – We’re all critics with our own opinions, that are sometimes different from others. Opinions, everybody’s got ’em! That’s the beauty of this show. Its a chance for all views to be shared, and you get to root for the fighter you agree with most – or decide your own answer! Whether you agree with the verdict or not – its always the discussion that matters most. And in this discussion below, too many of you didn’t like the title and thought it was unfair. You were right, so we adjusted it. We listen to guys, and always want you involved in the discussion! So thanks for the feedback, and please keep it coming!! Peace & Love @andysignore

Dan Amboyer Confirmed For Batman Vs. Superman & Role Revealed: Green Lantern?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24336:]]

Following rumors, it’s confirmed Dan Amboyer has a role in Batman Vs. Superman.

Pop Sugar spoke with the actor who talked about filming the movie where it’s revealed Dan Abmoyer is playing a character named “Lieutenant Christie.” iMDB also lists Amboyer as playing a “Drone Pilot,” and the latest rumor stated Amboyer is actually Green Lantern (you can read more about that here).

What was the set like?

It was awesome. I got there right at the beginning of shooting and it was crazy because my first day people were showing me around and all of a sudden the Superman suit comes by — and it’s giant. It’s not something you can hang up. So that was insane. But what I thought was really interesting was that they filmed a lot of it on film, not digital. So a lot of the sets were actually built. So, all of a sudden, you’re on another planet, literally. Everything is so intricate and perfect. You think so much of that is just CGI and postproduction, but it was actually there.

On working with Zack Snyder:

It was interesting. He was a cool guy. I don’t know if people know this, but he’s really big about fitness on set, even as far as catering. So, he’s always encouraging healthy food, which is great. He even makes you do push-ups in between takes.

On what scenes he filmed:

Um, I don’t know what I can say that’s not spoilery. So, let’s just say, I filmed good ones.

Amboyer reveals he auditioned for two other DC superheroes:

I auditioned to play Superman in Man of Steel originally and I auditioned for The Flash. I’ve constantly been coming back to these characters.

Confirms other cameos in addition to Wonder Woman and Doomsday:

It’s hard for me to keep up with what’s officially been announced, but yes, there are some other possibilities.

Aboyer seems to indicate his name in the movie is used for undercover work (which obviously may mean he has a different name):

Oh, yes. It does appear, but it’s kind of an undercover thing. The name appears on me at one point.

Amboyer is teased about his favorite color being green.

No? Blue. Definitely blue, but I appreciate nature as well and everything green.

WB Rumored To Be Worried About Batman Vs. Superman & Justice League Movie Universe Future

Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. recently released the final Batman Vs. Superman trailer, which was better received than the last.

Now it’s being said Warner Bros. is worried.

The info comes from HitFix‘s Drew McWeeny who talks about the latest Batman Vs. Superman trailer and the Justice League universe.

“I do think this is the moment now for Warner to make the case,” McWeeny offered. “Sort of pulling the curtain back a little bit, Warner is a little bit worried. This movie [Batman v Superman] is starting to scare them. And it’s scaring them because they are starting to show it to people now. People are starting to lay eyes on the film and the response has been not exactly what I think they wanted.”

McWeeny goes on to speculate that he thinks Suicide Squad will be a hit; that Wonder Woman will be finished the way they are planning, but McWeeny goes on to say he will be surprised if Justice League starts filming when it’s supposed to, and also that he will be surprised if Zack Snyder directs it.

McWeeny continues with mention that he has talked with enough people close to the studio that his guess is Justice League will get pushed back, and the Ben Affleck Batman standalone movie will take the place of Justice League Part 1 in 2017.

“My guess is they’re gonna throw whatever money it takes at Ben Affleck to make that Batman film happen sooner rather than later,” McWeeny said. “Because they are going to need to rebuild again. They are going to need to win people back over. They are going to need to lay some different ground work. I don’t think this is going to be the springboard for the Justice League they wanted it to be.”

McWeeny also says the two things he hears that are working for WB is that Ben Affleck’s Batman is said to be “very good,” and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor “is great.”

It’s also suggested the reason for the problems surrounding the movie is that it was rushed, as two days prior to the Comic-Con announcement was when they decided to do Batman Vs. Superman. It’s further said the WB Justice League movie universe is suffering from not having someone at the head of it – similar to Marvel’s Kevin Feige – and that if Batman Vs. Superman doesn’t make a billion dollars at the box office to expect a lot of changes following the movie’s release.

McWeeny also goes on to to state to look for promotion to shift toward Ben Affleck and Batman.

Max Landis Responds To Zack Snyder’s Superman Is Canon In Man Of Steel Claim

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24170:]]

Zack Snyder is drawing some heat online regarding his recent statement about his Superman in Man of Steel being comic book canon.

“If you actually read Comics, you know I didn’t change Superman,” Snyder told the Hall Of Justice podcast.

Now big-time Superman fan, Hollywood screenwriter, and writer of the DC Comics Superman: American Alien comic book, Max Landis, takes to Twitter to comment on Snyder’s remarks.

Below you can check out the tweets, which includes mention Snyder’s remark is: “…one of the strangest claims I’ve ever heard a director make: that they did the ‘canon’ version of a multicanon character…”

Regarding Snyder’s comments about keeping the characters in the movies “canon,” we can’t help but ask does the same apply to Doomsday and Aquaman?

Anyway… below you can also check out Landis’ popular “Death and Return of Superman” pitch as well as his Man of Steel reaction video following the tweets.
