Brent Spiner Cast As Riddler For Justice League Action

It’s learned that Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Brent Spiner will provide the voice of the Ridder for the new Cartoon Network Justice League Action animated series.

Spiner, who previously voiced the Joker for Young Justice, told Comic Book Central (via Newsarama) in a podcast that he is voicing Riddler as Mark Hamill wanted to once again voice Joker.

“There’s a new Justice League coming on, and Mark [Hamill] decided this time he wanted to the Joker, so I ended up doing the Riddler,” revealed Spiner. “I’ve only done one episode, but then I only did one episode of the Joker, too.”

The new Justice League Action series is set to debut this Fall and also stars Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman, James Woods as Lex Luthor and Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold.

Brent Spiner played Data in ST: TNG.

Synopsis:

Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman lead the DC Comics Super Heroes against their most infamous foes in adventures packed with relentless thrills, fun and action. No need to wait for the good stuff to start, each eleven-minute episode jumps in with lightning-paced action and heroics. Whether defending the Earth, facing invaders from space, or battling the bizarre forces of magic, the always-rotating team of Justice League heroes, are up to any challenge.

Watch: Star Trek: TNG Riker Parody Episode 1

Check out fan-favorite character William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) getting the spotlight in the above parody series TNG Edit with “Riker” Episode 1 from the gazorra YouTube channel.

The video was edited and put together by Jan van den Hemel, who is known for ST: TNG fan-edits from the 2000s.

Footage is taken from various Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes to create the “effect,” but the episode is based on “Galaxy’s Child.”

It’s rather funny… And sort of freaky.

Star Trek’s Brent Spiner Joins Star Wars Rebels

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13836:]]

Seems J.J. Abrams isn’t the last person to crossover from Star Trek to Star Wars as the latest has Brent Spiner joining the cast of Star Wars Rebels.

Brent Spiner, of course known for playing Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation, let it be known that he will be voicing a character for Disney’s new animated series Star Wars Rebels while being a part of a panel at the Gallifrey One Convention in Los Angeles.

A Twitter user at the Young Justice panel  posted the news.

It’s unknown which role Brent Spiner will be voicing in Star Wars Rebels, but the actor is no stranger to voice acting as he has worked on Robot Chicken, Generator Rex, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Family Guy.

Star Wars Rebels premiers with an animated movie on Disney followed by the regular series.

In Star Wars Rebels, Darth Vader enlists The Inquisitor to hunt down the last of the Jedi Knights. The series takes place about 14 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, a time in which the Emperor’s rule is secure and the Empire is seeking to expand its power to Outer Rim territories. That leads Imperial forces to Lothal, a poor planet that initially welcomes the Empire on the promise of security and prosperity. It soon becomes obvious, however, that the Empire does not have Lothal’s best interests at heart, as the Imperials exploit its people and begin recruiting young citizens to join TIE fighter and Stormtrooper academies, or to work in the Sienar Fleet Systems factory — which builds TIE fighters — in the planet’s capital.

Jonathan Frakes Wants To Appear In J.J. Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4653:]]

J.J. Abrams rebooted Star Trek in 2009 quite successfully with a brand new universe, but at the same time also managed to tie-in to the previous Star Trek universe with an appearance by Leonard Nimoy.

We’ve heard countless times about the newest film, Star Trek Into Darkness, that none of the original characters will appear.

Well, what about the characters that came after?

Jonathan Frakes played William Riker, the popular “Number One” to Patrick Stewart’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard, for seven seasons — and Frakes is hopeful that a member of the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast will get a chance to appear in the new J.J. Abrams universe.

He tells NBC Philadelphia (Via TrekNews) the following:

I am very hopeful. I’m not sure where we would be – I happen to be a fan and a friend of J.J.’s and I think he’s rebooted the franchise in the most successful and wonderful way imaginable. And I’m really excited about the second movie. I think maybe some version of what they did with Leonard Nimoy in the first movie would be the way to go: they would pepper in one of us. I would imagine they’d start with Picard if they could. It would involve our usual time travel/quantum anomaly/black hole/some sci‑fi version of how we all get there.

Could one of TNG characters being appearing somehow along side Chris Pine this time around? If Benedict Cumberbatch is, indeed, the all-powerful Gary Mitchell, it’s quite possible.

Star Trek Into Darkness has a May 17th, 2013 release date in 3D, is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Benedict Cumberbatch as an unnamed villain.

Warp on over to the Cosmic Book News Star Trek Movie Hub for more news.

Synopsis:

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes “Star Trek Into Darkness.”

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Andy Diggle To Write New Doctor Who Comic; IDW’s Star Trek/Doctor Who Meets Picard

The London Super Comic Con was held this weekend and saw a couple Doctor Who announcements.

The first sees Andy Diggle come onboard in August for the first arc of a new Doctor Who series with Mark Buckingham.

And the second is a reveal for the IDW Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who crossover where the Doctor apparently meets Picard in the Holodek – or I suppose the Doctor travels back in time with Picard in the Tardis. Looking closely at the following image reveals both the Doctor and Picard to be wearing 1920s/30s style of clothing.

Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Next Generation Comic Book Cross-Over Coming In May

This is a match made in the Tardis!

Looks like in May, from comic book publisher IDW Publishing, we are getting a Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Next Generation cross-over.

Now this marks the first of its kind for Doctor Who, who hasn’t previously appeared outside of his own Universe, I believe, while Stark Trek has on more than one occasion.

Still, what’s gonna happen when the likes of the Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory the Roman meet up with Number One, Data, Warf, Geordie – and Jean Luc Picard!

Engage!

Or better yet – Geronimo!

And will the Enterprise be able to take down a bunch of Daleks?! Likewise, will the Borg try to assimilate the Doctor?! Who knows who is gonna show!

Should be fun.

A few more details have become known.

Bleeding Cool posted the following cover.
