Anson Mount has denied claims that Donald Trump is making Star Trek great again. It’s also being reported that Skydance is preparing to take legal action against the Trump administration over its anti-DEI policies, if the merger with Paramount falls through.
Skydance needs the Trump admin to approve Paramount deal
Three days ago, the Tachyon Pulse Podcast on YouTube claimed that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds underwent reshoots to remove woke content.
The YouTuber suggested the changes were a response to Trump’s anti-DEI policies. Trump-appointed FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr recently stated that companies would need to end “their invidious forms of DEI discrimination” to gain merger approval. Skydance, which is seeking approval to acquire Paramount, would need the green light from the Trump administration.

YouTuber Shares New Details
In an update, the YouTuber says Anson Mount is denying that the delay of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 is due to pressure from the Trump administration’s anti-DEI policies on Paramount.
The YouTuber claims he was contacted directly by Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike in the series.
The Youtuber also revealed that two separate sources reached out to him with the same claims and adds that if the Paramount-Skydance merger falls through, Skydance plans to take the Trump administration to court.
Worth a mention is that Skydance Media is run by David Ellison and, from what we understand, is backed by his father, Larry Ellison—co-founder of Oracle Corporation—who has a net worth close to $200 billion. Shortly after his inauguration, Larry Ellison joined Trump at the White House to announce Stargate, the $500 billion investment for infrastructure tied to artificial intelligence.

Anson Mount Responds to Claims
The YouTuber declined to read Mount’s statement directly, and so far, Anson Mount hasn’t addressed the situation on his social media. According to The Tachyon Pulse, Mount “has emphatically said that this story is not true, and he is convinced that whoever I’m talking to does not work for the studio and does not work for Paramount Studios.”
The YouTuber went on to say that Anson Mount didn’t offer a reason for the delay of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. According to the YouTuber, Mount claimed he doesn’t know why Season 3 is delayed and that Paramount doesn’t explain these things to him. However, Mount was certain the delay isn’t due to political reasons.
Sources are legit
The YouTuber went on to vouch for his two sources, saying they’re legitimate. One is connected to the business and legal side of the studio, while the other appears to be involved in production.
According to the YouTuber, both sources said the same thing: Paramount felt Season 3 was a bit too woke and requested changes.

What are the changes to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3?
As the YouTuber explains, it’s still unclear whether the updates to Strange New Worlds were actual “changes” or full-on reshoots. Paramount may have reviewed the scripts and ordered certain scenes to be reshot. Alternatively, since Season 3 was filmed last year, the studio could have removed the “woke” content during edits and post-production in response to Trump’s election win. The YouTuber claims that some of the content was “critical of Republican views.” He also notes that the changes to Season 3 coincided with the recent start of production on Season 4.
The YouTuber adds that he heard the reshoots for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 were “relatively minor” and intended to slightly shift the tone of certain scenes. He claims the changes targeted moments considered to be “a little bit politically motivated” and were made to “take the wind out of the sails of anybody that would point at this and scream woke.”

Skydance vs Trump on the horizon?
Regarding Skydance vs Trump, the YouTuber says:
“There is a concerted effort, really, to please sort of the government on that and to sort of hopefully show willing to move in their direction—to grease the wheels and get this actual merger through a little bit quicker on the FCC.
Their threats of actually blocking this are very real, and there is a very real threat that the regulator might refuse this, not just because of things like this and DEI, but actually other issues with Trump and CBS, etc.
So there is not good will from this government towards Paramount, CBS, and Skydance. I think they are desperately walking that tightrope to try and make sure that this deal does go through.
I am also told that they’ve already considered legal action—Skydance—and they are actually trying to figure out what their legal position would be if the FCC did refuse this deal on political grounds.”
