Paramount+ has officially announced that the highly anticipated original movie Star Trek: Section 31 will premiere on Friday, January 24, 2025, exclusively on the streaming platform.
Fans can look forward to the return of Oscar® winner Michelle Yeoh, reprising her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a fan-favorite character from Star Trek: Discovery.
NYCC 2024 Panel Unveils Teaser Art and Cast
The announcement was made during the Star Trek universe panel at New York Comic Con 2024, where new teaser art was revealed. Hosted by CBS News national correspondent Vladimir Duthiers, the panel featured appearances by cast members Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, and Robert Kazinsky, along with executive producer and director Olatunde Osunsanmi. Michelle Yeoh also made a special video appearance during the event.
The Plot: A New Mission for Emperor Georgiou
In Star Trek: Section 31, Yeoh’s Emperor Georgiou is recruited to join a covert division of Starfleet tasked with defending the United Federation of Planets. Along the way, she must confront the dark secrets of her past while taking on a dangerous mission. Fans will recognize Section 31 as the shadowy intelligence division that operates in secrecy within the Star Trek universe.
Star-Studded Cast
Joining Yeoh in Section 31 are Omari Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Emmy® winner Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry). Miku Martineau (Kate) will portray a young Philippa Georgiou.
