Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods Reportedly Canceled at Netflix

A new report says Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods anime won’t move forward with a second season at Netflix.

According to What’s On Netflix, early development work for Season 2 took place and plans were even drafted, but the continuation is no longer happening.

Director Jay Oliva confirmed in their previous interview that they had hoped for a second season, but in their new report, the site reports that those plans have now apparently stalled. Netflix hasn’t officially announced the cancellation as of yet.

Cancellation Comes as Snyder Is Tied Back to the SnyderVerse

Interestingly enough, the timing lines up with what we’ve been reporting: Snyder could be returning for the SnyderVerse.

Snyder has been releasing DCEU-themed character images, and the industry chatter is finally catching up to what our insiders have been saying for months.

Netflix’s WBD Bid Creates More Questions About Snyder’s Future

The news also follows reports that Netflix is bidding on WBD, although some reports doubt Netflix is seriously still in the mix.

If WBD is sold, Snyder could follow whichever studio wins — either Paramount or Comcast — as both bids are said to be backed by the Saudis.

Snyder is developing the Brawler UFC movie with the Saudis, who, as we’ve reported, want to bring back the SnyderVerse to rival Marvel.

Jay Oliva’s Connection to the SnyderVerse

What is also notable is Jay Oliva’s involvement, as he worked closely with Snyder as the storyboard artist for the SnyderVerse films.

Twilight of the Gods reportedly being canceled only intensifies speculation that Snyder’s focus is shifting to the return of the SnyderVerse.

With Snyder’s future looking increasingly tied to DC again, the cancellation may be less of an ending and more of a realignment.
