James Gunn’s Superman movie features the first appearance of the DCU’s Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock, who will go on to star in her own movie, which gets released June 26, 2026.

“Challenge to color correct Milly’s hair in one day
 the day before she worked
Accepted!” posted Lindsay McAllister on Instagram. “What a great sport she was, having jet lag from just flying into Atlanta the day before and then having to sit for a total of 8 HOURS in my chair.”

She continued, “I worked in salons for years and making clients blonde(r) was always one of my favorite tasks. Lots of foils and toning was necessary and I couldn’t begin to tell you what all I used since it was over a year ago. I don’t have formulas, I just eyeball it and mix things like a mad chemist! Thanks for trusting me Peter, when I said ‘I got this.’ Can’t wait to see more of Milly in ‘Supergirl,’ which I didn’t get to be a part of sadly —but I cannot WAIT to watch it knowing Peter Swords King and his UK makeup/hair team did a wonderful job!!!”

What happens with Supergirl in Superman?

Spoiler: Milly Alcock’s cameo comes in at the end of the movie. As Clark is healing in the Fortress of Solitude, Supergirl shows up, where it’s revealed that Krypto is her dog.

If you watched the flick close enough, Clark hinted that was the case when he said he was fostering Krypto.

So Supergirl shows up, and she’s drunk and her costume is stained. Superman tells the Fortress robots that Supergirl likes to go to planets with a red sun so she can get drunk, as they can’t get drunk on planets with a yellow sun because of their super metabolisms.

Supergirl reunites with Krypto. “Thanks for watching him, b-tch!” she tells Superman.

I’ll say the reaction from fans hasn’t been too favorable. I’ve already seen it twice, and Supergirl drew mixed reactions from the live audience. Also, the general sentiment to have the movie end on a note where Supergirl tells Superman he’s a b-tch, seems to be on the negative side.

Superman gets his a– kicked the entire movie, and it ends like that. A lot of fans aren’t happy.

We can also assume from her cameo that the tone of the Supergirl movie will be similar. Gunn’s already said Supergirl is a lot different than Superman. Also, what about the Jor-El message? How will that affect Supergirl, who was raised Kryptonian?

“We see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” said Gunn at the press event from January 2023. “She’s much more hardcore, she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
