In surprising news, it’s learned that Disney and Lucasfilm are actually developing a Star Wars horror project, but it’s unclear if it’s a movie or a potential TV series for Disney+.
What are the details?
The details come about with Tony Gilroy promoting the upcoming release of Andor Season 2, arguably one of the better Star Wars series on Disney+. Gilroy also saved Rogue One with rewrites and reshoots.
While talking with Business Insider, the outlet brought up comments Gilroy made in March about how he joked there should be “a three-camera sitcom in Star Wars or a horror movie.”
Well, it turns out the horror idea apparently wasn’t a joke as it’s in development.
“They’re doing that. I think they’re doing that. I think that’s in the works, yeah,” Gilroy confirmed on the Red Carpet for the premiere of Andor Season 2 about the Star Wars horror project when asked about his previous comments. It’s noted that Gilroy didn’t say if it’s a movie or TV series.
Gilroy continued with mention his comment about a Star Wars sitcom was meant to be a joke, as apparently, it ruffled a few Star Wars fans’ feathers.
“I’m agnostic about what should be done. I was riffing on the thing where I said, ‘Oh, do a three-camera comedy,’ so I was riffing. Sometimes riffing doesn’t work with the Star Wars community,” he said.

Star Wars zombies?
Following Andor, Lucasfilm only has Ahsoka Season 2 in the works, so just maybe, a Star Wars horror series is on the way. It would actually be pretty cool if it was about the Sith.
The novels have delved into horror, including Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber, which is about a deadly virus that reanimates the dead. Yeah, Star Wars zombies. Red Harvest by Schreiber is set at a Sith academy and is about how the zombie virus originated.
There is also the young adult Galaxy of Fear series by John Whitman, which is basically Goosebumps meets Star Wars.
