Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone – and everybody – are said to be back for Spider-Man 3, which follows the news of Alfred Molina returning as Doc Ock.
Following the Doc Ock news, Collider is offering that Tobey Maguire will be back in Spider-Man 3 if the talks go through and that Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst will be back in addition to the possibility of Emma Stone (rumored as Spider-Gwen), pregnancy permitting.
The site says: “They’re all coming back. Everyone.”
Bear in mind this is still all unconfirmed by Marvel Studios and Sony (though Sony teased the “Spider-Verse” for the flick and is now taking down the video; watch it here!) and even Jamie Foxx back as Electro is unconfirmed, though the actor has teased involvement in Spider-Man 3 on more than one occasion.
It should also be mentioned that Sam Raimi is directing Doctor Strange 2, and Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in Spider-Man 3, so it’s all obviously not a coincidence and adds up to Spider-Man 3 being a “Spider-Verse” Multiverse movie.
Spider-Man 3: There’s No Place Like The Spider-Verse
The animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie was a big success, so it seems Marvel and Sony are going a similar route on the big screen. In addition, because of DC announcing Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck back as Batman in The Flash, it’s said that following Batman vs. Superman and Captain America: Civil War, Kevin Feige is again playing “follow the leader” and going with his own Multiverse movie for Spider-Man 3.
It’s also rumored that Spider-Man 3 will feature a Sinister Six made up of Multiverse characters, which Jamie Foxx back as Electro and Alfred Molina back as Doctor Octopus seems to hint at. It’s guessed the Sinister Six may be hunting down the Tom Holland Spider-Man, so the Holland Spidey teams with the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield versions of Spider-Man.
Who knows? With “everybody” returning, maybe we’ll see Topher Grace back as Venom, James Franco as Harry Osborn, and fan-favorite Willem Dafoe back as Green Goblin.
Let’s just hope the movie doesn’t get too big.
