Rumor: Mark Hamill Almost Killed During Star Wars Filming

Update: Mark Hamil has said the rumor is false news.

Earlier saw the news of Star Wars: Episode VIII filming in Ireland with set pics and possible details, and now a new rumor is stating Mark Hamill was almost killed last year while filming The Force Awakens at the same location.

According to the UK’s Mirror, an onlooker witnessed Mark Hamill slipping during a “dangerous climb in a treacherous spot” on Skellig Michael.

It’s claimed Mark Hamill took a tumble on the steps leading to the Christan Monastery, but his life was saved by a quick-acting guide from the Irish Office Of Public Works who caught the actor.

Various other UK gossip sites and the NY Daily News are reporting similar news.

This isn’t the first time a mishap has occurred on the set of the new Star Wars movie as Harrison Ford and JJ Abrams both sutained injuries when the door of the Millennium Falcon crashed down. Harrison’s ankle was injured and Abrams broke his back.

Hamill also was involved in a car accident the day before he was to shoot a final scene for Star Wars: A New Hope.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has a December 18, 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
