Matt Reeves Gives The Batman Part II Update At The Emmys

Matt Reeves appeared at the Emmys on Sunday and revealed new details about The Batman Part II, including when filming will begin and how the script has come together.

Filming Timeline

Reeves confirmed cameras will roll in spring 2026.

“Yeah, we start shooting in spring. We’ll shoot probably like April, end of April, beginning of May, something like that,” Reeves told Variety.

He added that the script, co-written with Mattson Tomlin, is finished and has already been shared with Robert Pattinson. Reeves said Pattinson was “super excited” about the story and believes the sequel will go further than the first film.

Script and Characters

While praising Krista Milioti’s performance in The Penguin series, Reeves made clear her character will not appear in The Batman Part II.

“She’s not in this one… we were so far along in the story that it might upset the apple cart,” Reeves explained.

He hinted at wanting to revisit her down the line if the story allows.

Future of the Batman Universe

Asked about more spin-off projects like The Penguin, Reeves said the priority right now is The Batman Part II. But he remains open to further stories if they meet his standards.

“The answer is we’d love to do more things, but they have to be things that fit. Obviously, I’m not in control of all the business plans of DC, but I have things that I would love to do,” he told MTV.
