Razzie Award Winners Include Madame Web, Joker 2, Francis Ford Coppola Responds

The winners for the 45th Golden Raspberry Awards have been announced which celebrate the worst that Hollywood has to offer and include Madame Web, and Joker 2. Francis Ford Coppola also responded to “winning” for Megalopolis.

Sony Marvel’s Madame Web won three awards – a first for the Razzies – for Worst Picture, Worst actress for Dakota Johnson, and Worst Screenplay. The official announcement teased “…went to a comic-book-based movie that spent most of 2024 being touted by movie-goers everywhere as ‘a serious Razzie contender.’”

DC and WB’s Joker 2 won for Worst Screen Combo for Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Gaga, and for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel: “… a much-anticipated sequel whose predecessor was a monster hit worldwide (and an Oscar winner). But this follow-up disappointed (i.e. pissed off!) audiences all over the world and thus wound up in the Razzie winners’ circle.”

Coppola’s Megalopolis won for Worst Director and responded on social media.

“I am thrilled to accept the Razzie award in so many important categories for @megalopolisfilm , and for the distinctive honor of being nominated as the worst director, worst screenplay, and worst picture at a time when so few have the courage to go against the prevailing trends of contemporary moviemaking!” he posted on Instagram.

Coppola continued, “In this wreck of a world today, where ART is given scores as if it were professional wrestling, I chose to NOT follow the gutless rules laid down by an industry so terrified of risk that despite the enormous pool of young talent at its disposal, may not create pictures that will be relevant and alive 50 years from now.”
