Universal Pictures is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Back To The Future with a nationwide theatrical re-release starting October 31.
For the first time, the 1985 classic will play in premium formats including Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and D-Box, giving fans the chance to experience the film’s time-travel adventure on the largest and most immersive screens.

New 40th Anniversary 4K Gift Set
Ahead of Back To The Future Day on October 21, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release a 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Trilogy Gift Set on October 14.
The set includes all three films in 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital, packaged with collectibles such as:
- Flux Capacitor SteelBook
- Exclusive Gibson Mini Guitar replica
- OUTATIME metal license plate
- Back To The Future: A Visual History booklet
- Replica items from the Universal archives
Fans can also pick up individual SteelBooks for each film or the standard 40th Anniversary Trilogy 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital edition.

Bonus Features
The collection features over 9 hours of bonus content, with more than 90 minutes of newly produced features, including:
- 40 Years Later: Reflecting on the Future – Bob Gale on the cultural impact.
- Back to Hill Valley – Revisiting filming locations with Gale and Donald Fullilove.
- Untold Stories of Back To The Future – Crew members share on-set memories.
- TCM Classic Film Festival Panel – Bob Gale, Dean Cundey, and Charlie Croughwell discuss the film.

The Film’s Legacy
Released on July 3, 1985, Back To The Future introduced audiences to Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). The film grossed over $385 million worldwide, making it the year’s highest-grossing release. It earned four Academy Award nominations and won for Best Sound Effects Editing.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg, the film has since become a defining piece of pop culture, launching one of the most successful trilogies in cinema history.
