Back in July 2025, we reported an exclusive: Warner Bros. was expanding Jason Momoa’s Lobo role in Supergirl after the actor wowed executives.
Now a critic who saw an earlier cut of the film has confirmed it, a Lobo scene was, in fact, added to the theatrical version.

Chris Gore Confirms The Added Scene
Speaking on Nerdrotic’s show, Film Threat founder Chris Gore — who saw Supergirl alongside someone who had seen the earlier cuts — described a Lobo sequence that wasn’t in the previous version.
Asked how much Lobo is in the movie, Gore said it’s only about 10 minutes, but added: “They added a scene with Lobo. He suddenly turns up in a prison where Ruthye is, and for no reason that scene was added.”
Notably, Nerdrotic’s Gary Buechler also pointed out the disconnect between that limited screen time and the marketing, as Lobo is “all over” the Supergirl promotion despite appearing for only roughly 10 minutes in the actual film.

What We Reported Last Summer
That lines up directly with our July 2025 exclusive.
A source close to Warner Bros. told us at Comic-Con that Momoa had impressed execs so much with his Lobo performance that the studio decided to give him more screen time in Supergirl.
We reported the decision to expand the role; Gore, having seen both an early cut and the final film, now confirms the result, a Lobo scene that wasn’t there before made it into the theatrical release.
That fits with how Lobo comes across in the movie. Even in our own review, Momoa’s Lobo was a highlight, though we noted his actual entrance felt oddly underwhelming, with the Main Man simply turning up in a bar sequence as if he’d been there the whole time.
The added, somewhat disconnected prison scene would fit the picture of a role expanded in post rather than built into the original structure.

A Familiar Track Record
This isn’t the first time our insiders have reported something months ahead of outside confirmation.
The same sourcing told us that Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again was a disaster being retooled long before the trades confirmed the show’s overhaul.
It’s also the same sources behind our ongoing DC reporting, from the original SnyderVerse return story to our more recent exclusive on Zack Snyder’s planned Justice League finale, as well as our report that James Gunn is on his way out amid the WBD sale.
Now add the Lobo confirmation to the list.
