Neil Burger Reveals First Look At ‘Barracuda’ With Anthony Mackie And Dafne Keen

Director Neil Burger has offered a first look at Barracudathe new action thriller starring Anthony Mackie and Dafne Keen.

Burger posted to Instagram a week ago, confirming production had started and showing off the movie’s title car, an orange 1973 Plymouth Barracuda.

He wrote, “Day 1 of my new movie Barracuda. And here it is: a ‘73. ….Also starring Anthony Mackie and Dafne Keen. Shooting in New Mexico.”

First look at the Barracuda

The image shared by Burger puts the focus on the muscle car that appears set to play a big role in the movie.

That matches the previously released synopsis, which says Mackie’s character steals a prized 1973 Plymouth Barracuda after rescuing Keen’s kidnapped character.

Mackie plays Karl, a former smuggler with a haunted past, who sparks a violent chase after storming a nightclub in Mexico to save Jodie, played by Keen.

The two then tear across the desert toward the U.S. border while being hunted by ruthless criminals.

New set video teases the action

Burger followed up with another Instagram post one day ago, sharing a set video captioned, “From inside the arm car.”

The footage shows filming from inside a camera vehicle as the Barracuda speeds down dusty New Mexico roads.

It is a small tease, but it gives a better idea of the practical chase-heavy approach Burger seems to be taking with the film.

Barracuda is now filming

Barracuda is currently shooting in New Mexico.

Along with Mackie and Keen, the cast also includes Steven Bauer and Anthony Del Negro. Neil Burger (Motorheads, The Agency, Billions, DivergentLimitlessThe Illusionist) is directing from a screenplay by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes, with Robert Zemeckis executive producing.

Based on the early teases, Barracuda looks like it is leaning hard into the car-chase angle, with the ’73 Plymouth Barracuda front and center.
