Gal Gadot Excited To Inspire People As New Wonder Woman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21436:]]

While Grant Morrison might not think much of the DCCU Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot is pretty darn excited.

Interview Magazine spoke with Gadot (in addition to putting up a really nice spread of pics) where Gadot offered the following:

Oh, my God, I’m so excited about this role. I feel like I’ve been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There’s a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It’s going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood.

In addition to Batman Vs. Superman, Gal Gadot will be featured in Justice League and the solo Wonder Woman film.

Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. Ant-Man #1 At Box Office, But Falls Short Of Estimates

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21431:]]

The official box office numbers for Marvel’s Ant-Man are in, which sees the film performing under expectations.

While Ant-Man came in as the #1 movie at the box office this weekend, it brought in only $55.4 million, which is less than the $56-65 million estimated.

Ant-Man currently has a $112.6 million worldwide cume, which is also below estimates of around $114.4 million.

It should probably be noted that all of the Marvel Studios sole-character films peformed similar numbers, except for Iron Man:

Incredible Hulk – $55.4 million

Captain America: The First Avenger – $65 million

Thor – $65.7 million

Iron Man – $98.6 million

Ant-Man is arguably the least known Marvel character on the big screen, and his powers are a bit odd, but I felt the movie was easily Marvel’s most accessible film for a non-comic audience.

Currently at WB’s Rotten Tomatoes movie aggregate review site, audience approval for Ant-Man is at 92%. Critic reviews stand at 80% positive, which seems to to be a good sign as the reviews were hovering around 70-ish.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Marvel’s upcoming slate of movies, which feature unknown characters as well, with Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and Inhumans. Black Panther might be okay as it spins out of Captain America: Civil War, which is essentially Avengers 3.

Bigger & Better Quicksilver Scene Coming For X-Men: Apocalypse

Evan Peters was the scene-stealer in X-Men: Days Of Future Past as his Quicksilver quickly won fans over; now it’s learned X-Men: Apocalypse will feature an even bigger and better Quicksilver scene as MTV caught up with Peters.

“Well, yeah, it’s always difficult to try to top something like that. The special effects guys, man, they absolutely nailed that and did a fantastic job on it. This year we’re working on something that’s bigger and better, keeping the same elements that worked, then adding a few new ones. I’m really excited to see it all cut together, and I’m excited for people to see it, too. I think it’s going to be a really fun sequence in what is going to be a massive X-Men movie. The scope of it — with the end of the world and Apocalypse coming — is going to be a very large, epic ’X-Men’ film.”

Watch: Martin Freeman Talks Captain America: Civil War

Check out Martin Freeman talking about his secret character in Captain America: Civil War.

Freeman offers:

“He works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes’ power, I suppose. So you’re not quite sure which side he’s on. It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another. It’s the kind of character I like because it’s ambiguous and because you don’t know whether he’s good or bad. I like that area that isn’t black or white, I like the grays, because there’s just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line. I like that.”

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Synopsis:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Mark Hamill Reacts To Amy Schumer Star Wars Images

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21419:]]

A couple of days ago saw GQ magazine publisher parody pictures of comedian/actress Amy Schumer in various sexual situations with Star Wars characters.

Typical of the internet, some fans exploded, which caused Disney Lucasfilm to officially respond.

Now Mark Hamill joins in, but the Luke Skywalker actor takes it a lot better than some of the wannabe Jedi Knights.

“Got excited when I saw [the] Amy Schumer GQ Magazine pics and thought she was just cast in [Star Wars: Episode] 8!” Hamill tweeted. “We should be so lucky.”

The reaction to the Amy Schumer images caused Disney to officially deny they approved the pics, but we see Hamill takes it rather lightly.

Guillermo Del Toro Updates Justice League Dark, Hellboy 3 & Pacific Rim 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21415:]]

Coming out of Comic-Con, we get an update regarding Guillermo del Toro’s involvement in Justice League Dark, Hellboy 3 and Pacific Rim 2.

Just prior to Comic-Con saw the news that Guillermo Del Toro had departed the Justice League Dark movie, which was (or is) to feature the supernatural characters of the DC Comics; now it’s learned the reason for Guillermo Del Toro leaving the film is because of Pacific Rim 2.

“Warners liked the script, they were very enthusiastic and wanted to green-light it but they wanted it to coincide with the shoot of Pacific Rim 2,” Del Toro told Daily Beast. “I was put in a very difficult place facing a difficult choice, and I chose to do Pacific Rim 2.”

There has also been talk of late about Hellboy 3, with Ron Perlman leading the charge. Del Toro says it is still a possibility, but there is a catch, as the article notes Guillermo del Toro said Pacific Rim 2 needs to be a success.

“The hard fact is that the movie’s going to need about $120 million and there’s nobody knocking down our doors to give it to us,” Del Toro offered. “It’s a little beyond Kickstarter,” he laughed. “But you know, Ron is no spring chicken, so we’d better get to it before Hellboy has to do everything from a Barcalounger.”

Regarding a new director for Justice League Dark or whether the movie is still moving forward is unknown, but with Guillermo del Toro stating it was to film at the same time as Pacific Rim 2, we can guess the two movies have similar release dates, so JLD may have originally had a Summer of 2017 release date (Pacific Rim 2 hits August 4, 2017 and starts filming in the Fall).

Jim Starlin May Have Teased Adam Warlock For Avengers: Infinity War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21412:]]

Jim Starlin previously let the cat out of the bag when he confirmed Thanos in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Now Jim Starlin has taken to his Facebook page to possibly provide a little more insight into the Marvel Cosmic Cinematic Universe — or maybe not.

A recent casting call for The Avengers: Infinity War – Part one mentioned a plot that would see Adam Warlock’s bad side – The Magus – brought into the picture, but the information made no specific mention that Adam Warlock would appear in the film.

Starlin, who brought Adam Warlock and The Magus to the forefront of Marvel Comics in the ’70s, acknowledged an article on the subject on Facebook with:

The Magus in the Infinity War Movie but no Adam Warlock? That would be weird.

It should be noted that Starlin didn’t state Adam Warlock is in The Avengers: Infinity War –– just that it would be “weird” without him.

Again, it’s just speculation, which comes with a lot of hope.

It could even be possible we’ll see Adam Warlock introduced in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 prior to The Avengers 3, which leads to The Magus.

Cross your fingers, guys.

You can pick up Jim Starlin’s latest Marvel OGN, which features Adam Warlock and Thanos, “Infinity Relativity,” at comic shops or on Amazon at a discount.

Amy Schumer Upsets Star Wars Fans Causing Disney To Respond

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21410:]]

The latest issue of GQ Magazine features comic actress Amy Schumer depicted in various sexual poses with Star Wars characters.

Schumer, who wrote and is currently starring in Trainwreck, is shown with C3PO’s finger in her mouth on the cover of the magazine as well as inside with a lightsaber in her mouth and naked in bed with R2-D2 and C3PO.

Fans have taken to Twitter to voice their dissent, which has caused Disney to officially respond.

“I can’t believe Disney and Star Wars are allowing GQ Magazine to do this DISTASTEFUL Star Wars spread. Shame on all of you,” one Star Wars fans tweeted.

It turns out, Disney LucasFilm didn’t approve of the photo shoot.

“Lucasfilm and Disney did not authorize, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner,” the official Star Wars Twitter account replied.

Apparently, GQ was able to do the Amy Schumer Star Wars photo shoot without permission because it’s considered a parody, which is allowed by copyright law.

Ant-Man Spoiler Is Going To Be A Big Part Of Upcoming Movie

Warning: Spoilers for Ant-Man follow.

The Ant-Man mid-credit scene showed Hank Pym giving Hope the Wasp costume.

Yahoo caught up with Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige and asked about the future of Wasp.

“It’s going to be certainly a part of our Phase 3,” Feige said. “It is going to be a very important moment, and — spoiler alert! — we see that suit for the first time, and her father now is finally giving it to her and realizes that he can’t hold her back from what is essentially her destiny. It’s going to be a very big part of one of our upcoming films.”

The video also sees Ant-Man director Peyton Reed talking about the Falcon scene.

“The kid in me loved it, because that’s what I loved in the Marvel comics,” Reed offeres. “It’s like, okay, this character has these powers, and this one has this, and what happens if they go up against each other? Scott is clearly not prepared for what he’s about to come up against, but he really, at the last minute, makes some very smart tactical decisions,” Reed said of the battle. “And that was really fun — sort of, who’s going to get what licks in this fight?”

Ant-Man” is now in theaters starring Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross/Yellowjacket.

Synopsis:

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Grant Morrison Not A Fan Of Batman Vs. Superman’s Wonder Woman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21408:]]

Grant Morrison, the prolific DC Comics writer behind the likes of All-Star Superman and Batman, is writing the Wonder Woman: Earth One original graphic novel in which he tells the Nerdist he doesn’t like the latest Batman Vs. Superman trailer that features Wonder Woman.

Morrison remarks, the creator of Wonder Woman William Marston’s “original concept for Wonder Woman was an answer to comics that he thought were filled with images of blood-curdling masculinity, and you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it’s all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera. Marston’s Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist.”

Morrison also insinuates that an advanced society shouldn’t be violent as he questions: “What would a society of immortal women that’s been around for 7,000 years have done?”

His answer: “They wouldn’t still be chopping men’s head’s off; they’ve got art and architecture and philosophy and poetry and it’s got nothing to do with men.”

I have to say, I don’t agree with what Morrison is insinuating as, for one, we actually haven’t seen the Batman Vs. Superman movie, so we don’t know why Wonder Woman is actually fighting. My question to Morrison would be: What would an advance society do that’s being attacked and/or forced to defend themselves? Sit around and paint? I would argue an advanced society would actually have evolved warfare to the point where it’s most efficient and lethal. So if the Amazons were hand-to-hand combatants, they would obviously be the best at it.

I also have to take issue with Morrison insinuating that men are violent and the cause of violence. That’s just not true. Women can be just as violent as men.

Here’s the blurb from the interview:

It’s finished now and it’ll be coming out soon. I sat down and I thought, “I don’t want to do this warrior woman thing.” I can understand why they’re doing it, I get all that, but that’s not what [Wonder Woman creator] William Marston wanted, that’s not what he wanted at all! His original concept for Wonder Woman was an answer to comics that he thought were filled with images of blood-curdling masculinity, and you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it’s all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera. Marston’s Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist. So I went back to those roots and just built it up again.

They wouldn’t still be chopping men’s head’s off; they’ve got art and architecture and philosophy and poetry and it’s got nothing to do with men. So Yanick Paquette did this amazing design job, where there are no phallic objects. The only phallic objects are like these Greek towers that are almost like this haunting echo of the culture they came from.

Wonder Woman’s Invisible Plane is now shaped like a vagina, it’s the most incredible thing. It opens up in the back and it has a little clitoris hood, everything is a female-based design. It’s all based on shells and natural stuff. He’s created this entire newly designed world for the Amazons. And for the first 48 pages, there are no men — it’s just women talking to each other. And then halfway through the book, we’re building up to this big fight, and then I thought, “No, I’m not.” This book isn’t about fights, there’s not going to be any fights. So we threw out the rules of traditional boy’s adventure fiction. It’s the most exciting book I’ve done in years, it changed everything I’m thinking about the future.
