Grant Gustin Flash Not A Fit For Justice League Universe Says Zack Snyder

I’ve said it once, and it’s worth saying again: If ever DC was looking for their Spider-Man, they’ve found it in the Grant Gustin Flash.

I also think it’s a colossal mistake by WB not to use Grant Gustin (and Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow) in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Obviously, Zack Snyder disagrees as he cast Ezra Miller in the role of Barry Allen for the DCCU, which hasn’t been well received by fans.

Now we hear exactly why Zack Snyder chose to go a different route, and it’s because he feels the Grant Gustin Flash is too different in tone than the Justice League movie universe.

“I just don’t think it was a good fit,” Snyder told the New York Daily News of bringing Grant Gustin’s Flash into the Justice League universe. “I’m very strict with this universe, and I just don’t see a version where…that (tone is) not our world.”

Snyder continues in what seems an attempt – or an excuse- to calm the masses (sorry, Zack; not working) by stating Grant Gustin’s Flash is part of the overall DC multiverse.

“Even if Grant Gustin is my favorite guy in the world and he’s very good, we made a commitment to the multi-verse (idea), so it’s just not a thing that’s possible.”

From Snyder’s comments, I guess we are supposed to take from that, that the Grant Gustin Flash is too light and too happy. Now we know we can expect a dark and depressing Ezra Miller, right?

Ezra Miller, you have some mighty fast boots to fill. Good luck.

DC Stiffs Jim Starlin At Batman Vs. Superman Premiere

Comic book legend Jim Starlin was given an invite to the premiere of Batman Vs. Superman by DC, as one of his characters appears in the film: Callan Mulvey is playing Anatoli Knyazev (aka KG Beast). Jim Starlin created the character back in 1988’s Batman #417.

Well, Jim Starlin went to the Batman Vs. Superman premiere, but was turned away as his name wasn’t on the guest list for some reason, and now he’s not sure if he’ll see the movie.

Hopefully, this is just a simple mix up, and DC and Warner Bros. follow up on this.

Certainly Jim Starlin deserves to see Batman Vs. Superman.

Heading down to the city to attend the premiere of Batman vs Superman. This should be fun. I understand one of my characters (the KG Beast) makes a brief appearance in the film. This should be fun.

First Look At LEGO Batman Movie

WB has released high-res images from the upcoming LEGO Batman movie.

“The Batcave is even better than we remembered it, it’s awesome,” Arnett told USA Today. “But I also love getting into the ho-hum day-to-day of being Batman and what it’s like to fight crime each day. Like the idea of Batman oversleeping his alarm clock makes me laugh. It really does humanize him.”

“We thought if we can tell a well-rounded, funny story that’s action-packed, we can build a big movie around this character,” director Chris McKay said. “This is the movie we would want to see.”

LEGO Batman has a February 10, 2017 release directed by Chris McKay, written by Seth Grahame-Smith, starring the voice talents of Will Arnett as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Michael Cera as Robin/Dick Grayson, Zach Galifianakis as Joker and Mariah Carey as Mayor Marion Grange.

Two Batman Villains Almost Made It Into Batman Vs. Superman

It’s learned two Batman villains almost made it into Batman Vs. Superman.

Director Zack Snyder spoke with Collider and said he talked with Chris Terrio about adding in Joker and Riddler; however, they ended up deciding against it to focus on Batman and Superman, but it’s noted their presence is felt in the movie.

The Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie. We talked about the possibility of putting them in. [Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict.

We can see the Joker’s presence is felt through the Robin costume in the Batcave, and it’s thought the Riddler’s question mark is featured in the old Wayne Mansion.

The Joker will be seen this August in the Suicide Squad movie, played by Jared Leto; Ben Affleck’s Batman is scheduled to appear in Suicide Squad as well.

Jim Carrey played Riddler in 1995’s Batman Forever, with Cory Michael Smith currently playing Edward Nygma on the Gotham TV series.

Any ideas who could play Riddler in the Justice League universe? WB once wanted Leonardo DiCaprio for the role during the Nolan Trilogy, and it was also said Justin Timberlake was circling the role for Batman vs. Superman.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves.

Jeremy Renner Open To Netflix; Responds to Stephen Amell’s Arrow vs Hawkeye Claims (Video)

Jeremy Renner recently attended the Silicon Valley Comic-Con. Below you can check out the video from the Q&A.

Worth a mention is that Renner states he would be “definitely open” to doing a Netflix series as well as a Hawkeye standalone movie. Renner also responds to Stephen Amell’s claims from the 2014 Comic-Con, which saw Amell state, “I can beat Hawkeye in any contest,” and Renner says if he had to choose between Deadpool or Wolverine, it would be the latter because he’s a big Wolverine fan.

Here are some highlights:

Renner on Netflix:

If there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. I don’t know. Again these are things that are out of my control, so I don’t really kind of do anything about it… but I would be definitly open to it. I’ve really started to enjoy exploring the character more as of recently. The Netflix model is really a fantastic way to.. that’s where all the character drama goes to now. It’s either you are doing a superhero movie or you kind of go to a Netflix model or HBO… that’s where all the good television is, right? Always open to something like that. I don’t need to say yes or no to those things.

Renner on Stephen Amell’s Arrow claims:

“I’m happy that ficticious character can beat this other ficticious character in any random contest that he would like to challenge…I’m happy for that.”

Regarding the solo Hawkeye movie, fans brought up Aubrey Plaza as a co-star, which Renner was open to.

Miles Teller Never Watched Star Wars Prior To Han Solo Audition

Miles Teller is one of the thousands of actors who have auditioned for the role of the young Han Solo movie in the Star Wars Anthology film due out in 2018.

Teller, who seems to have not landed the role, tells the Happy Sad Confused Podcast that he didn’t even watch Star Wars prior to the audition.

“I had never even seen any of the original Star Wars movies until maybe a month or a couple weeks before my first audition because I was like, ‘I should check this out’ (laughs). It holds up. I just love Harrison Ford, I think that’s a great character. I love his brand, I mean so many guys would’ve played that part so wrong and he has humor at the right times.”

The same podcast sees Teller defending the recent Fantastic Four movie that bombed at the box office (for what it’s worth, I thought it wasn’t all that bad; they just needed to fix a few things: Thing, Doom and add more story elements).

“People think that when you make something like a Fantastic Four that doesn’t do well, people think ‘Oh you phoned it in’ and it couldn’t be more untrue. You work harder on the bad films, or the films that turn out maybe not the way you intended, because something’s not working. And I thought it was kind of unjustly critiqued that way; there are even bigger bombs if you’re looking at how much money went into the production and what they reaped back. But I think it’s unfortunate a movie like that becomes a scarlet letter on a resume when so many talented people worked really hard and maybe a handful of people took it in a negative direction. ”

Teller goes on to blame the Fantastic Four script for the movie’s failure, which according to reports, was always in a state of flux.

“I think it was Clooney who said you can make a bad movie out of a good script, you can’t make a good movie out of a bad script, and that’s very true. If they’re telling you maybe your part’s not as big and they say, ‘Oh you’re gonna be bigger in the sequel’ or ‘Oh we’re gonna rewrite’ and ‘Yeah we’re gonna take in all these notes,’ if you’re in a position where you can say hold off I’m not signing off on this dotted line until this script is exactly where you want it, then you’re in a very fortunate position.

The Han Solo Star Wars movie has a May 25, 2018 release directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It’s said Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor and Alden Ehrenreich are now being eyed for the role of the young Han Solo.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms Terminator 6

While Paramount recently yanked the next Terminator movie from its release schedule, according to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator 6 is still happening.

“I am looking forward to it, absolutely,” Schwarzenegger told Australia’s Channel 9 when asked about another Terminator film.

Arnold didn’t mention a release date or any other details, and Paramount hasn’t confirmed the next Terminator as well.

There were plans for a Terminator Universe at one point. Possibly with Terminator: Genisys not doing as well as hoped (a measly $90 million in the U.S.), Paramount and Arnold may be going back to the drawing board. There is still a big international audience for Terminator (Genisys scored over $350 million internationally), so hopefully they can get Terminator right.

The Terminator rights are scheduled to revert back to James Cameron in 2019 who hasn’t seemed too interested; however, that could always change, and maybe has.

How about Terminator vs Robocop?

Indiana Jones 5 Gets Jurassic Park & Spider-Man Writer

A couple of days ago Disney officially announced Indiana Jones 5 is in the works with Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford returning.

Now it’s learned the co-writer behind the previous Indiana Jones movie, Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, is also returning, with David Koepp.

THR reports the longtime Spielberg writer is back, but as of now, no plot details for Indiana Jones 5 are known.

While it may sounds like a red flag with the writer behind the disastrous Kingdom of The Crystal Skull being brought back, bear in mind David Koepp worked off of George Lucas’ original story idea as well as Jeff Nathanson’s several drafts (more than likely Koepp was brought on to try and salvage whatever he could from Lucas’ ideas).

The report also notes it’s unclear if Lucas will be involved with Indiana Jones 5. It’s possible, similar to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lucas may be on the sideline again.

The good news is that David Koepp also wrote Jurassic Park and the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man film as well as Mission Impossible, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Toy Soldiers, so we shouldn’t worry too much. Koepp is also behind Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and the adaptation of Dan Brown novel that stars Tom Hanks, Inferno.

The fifth untitled Indiana Jones movie has a July 19, 2019 release date.
