As I went over yesterday, A Minecraft Movie sees a decent jump Tuesday at the box office thanks to discounts at theaters, so much so that it’s actually the fourth-biggest Tuesday in April.
A Minecraft Movie brought in $12.7 million on Tuesday, which follows Monday’s steep decline. That number is the fourth-best box office for a Tuesday in April, only trailing 2019’s Avengers: Endgame ($33.1M), 2023’s The Super Mario Bros Movie ($15.4M), and 2015’s F7 ($13.3M).
Along with trailing Super Mario, A Minecraft Movie also trails Barbie‘s massive $26M on its first Tuesday. Minecraft managed to topple both those pics in its opening weekend, but whether or not Minecraft has any legs is now being questioned.

Second weekend estimates
The trades are offering that in its second weekend, A Minecraft Movie will bring in around $65M for a 60% drop.
Update: Estimates are even higher, now at $80M+, as of Friday. A sequel is also in development.
Barbie only dropped 42.6% in its second weekend with a $93M gross. Super Mario only dropped 36.9%, bringing in $92.3M.
After 5 days, Minecraft is at $185.M; Barbie was at $214M, and Super Mario at $204.6M.
This weekend will be a big test for Minecraft. There’s no competition and kids start vacations. Latest box office numbers below.
